Hi,

I'm still confirming, but it appears that feed items that are in the
'Pending review' state in the AdWords UI will have null *approvalStatus*.
I will post an update once I have more information.

Re: Daily operations counter reset time

2013-11-21 Thread Josh Radcliff (AdWords API Team)
Hi,

Could you provide more details as to why the timing of the operations
counter reset impacts your use case? Also, if you are hitting the daily
operations limit you might consider analyzing your API calls to see if you
can batch individual calls together. For example, the documentation on API
operations mentions
that retrieving 10 items in 10 separate requests counts as 10 operations,
but retrieving all 10 items in a single request would only count as 1
operation.

Thanks,
Josh, AdWords API Team

Re: AwReporting is very disappointing

2013-11-21 Thread Jason Stedman
A couple questions:

Have you tried upping the java heapsize?

Have you considered using the endpoint with Apache HttpClient directly to
download a csv which is supported using the downloadFormat xml element?

Have you considered limiting breaking your reports up into smaller more
reasonably scoped reports?

The tool seems to put the reports in memory and directly into the db from there
with performance in mind. Saving the report to disk then re-parsing it will
definitely take longer, but may be required for an agency scale report.

Re: My display text advt is appearing only in the first page of my GMAIL inbox top center ,pls guide me how to make my advt appear in the right hand side of my emails in gmail.

2013-11-21 Thread Jason Stedman
Disclaimer: I am purely speculating here and do not know if this works but you
may be able to achieve this by creating a second AdGroup with lower bids. Think
of the ads alongside an email displaying as if it were lower page rank than the
inbox.

Again: I have no clue if this actually will work. I am basing this on an
observed behavior that if your ad always displays on the first page, it won't
display in the second page. So by ranking lower in the bid auction, you stand a
chance at hitting the "second page".

Re: How to delete a negative criterion at campaign level, and how to select oly the non-deleted negative criterions at campaign level

2013-11-21 Thread Josh Radcliff (AdWords API Team)
Hi Charles,

You can delete a negative criterion at the campaign level using
CampaignCriterionService.mutateand
 a
CampaignCriterionOperationwith
 operator
*REMOVE*. The code for this would be a combination of the GetKeywords PHP
example
 (to
retrieve the criterion to delete) and the UpdateKeyword PHP
example
 (to
delete the criterion), with a few changes:

   1. Use CampaignCriterionService instead of AdGroupCriterionService (and
you'll get back CampaignCriterion objects instead of AdGroupCriterion
   objects).
   2. In the 'get' phase:
  - Include a predicate on 'IsNegative' EQUALS true to retrieve the
negative keyword criteria for the Campaign.
  - Change the selector fields to include 'CampaignId' and 'Id', since
these are required fields for the remove step.
   3. In the 'update' phase, create a CampaignCriterionOperation with
operator 'REMOVE' and use the CampaignCriterion object from the 'get' as
   the operand.

Regarding selecting only non-deleted criteria objects, are you finding that
the API returns these? In my tests I did not see this occurring.

Thanks,
Josh, AdWords API Team

Re: Using API with Storefronts

2013-11-21 Thread Josh Radcliff (AdWords API Team)
Hi,

For your use case you can set up an account hierarchy with one or more MCC
(My Client Center) accounts, and link those accounts to each client's
AdWords account. Our Signup
Guidegoes through
this in some detail, but you may find the following overview
of MCC accounts useful as well.

https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/1704399?hl=en&ref_topic=3121776

Note that you will not need a separate developer token for each customer
account you want to manage via the API. You can use a single developer
token in all of your API calls, regardless of the accounts the calls target.

Re: How do I get BiddingStrategyConfiguration object for Campaign via api?

2013-11-21 Thread Josh Radcliff (AdWords API Team)
Hi,

You can retrieve this object at the *Campaign* level by including
"BiddingStrategyType" in your *Selector*. If you are using shared bidding
strategies you can get and set the *Campaign*'s strategy via the
"BiddingStrategyId". To manage shared bidding strategies you can use the
BiddingStrategyService
.

Please see our Bidding
Guide for
more details and examples, or post a reply if you have any further
questions.

Thanks,
Josh, AdWords API Team

Re: Zero clicks with non-zero conversions

2013-11-21 Thread Josh Radcliff (AdWords API Team)
Hi,

I see that the *Dimensions* tab shows the same data for the *Search terms*
view,
but I agree that the combination of conversions with zero clicks looks odd.
I'm looking into whether this behavior is expected.

Do you see this combination for other dates as well, or is Aug 11 2013
special?

Thanks,

AwReporting is very disappointing

2013-11-21 Thread Daniel Altman
Hello, just wanted to point out how disappointing we are with AwReporting
and why.

We were told AwReporting would be the solution to our problems regarding
downloading large scale performance information for all our accounts.
We currently do nightly downloads using the API, calling it in parallel and
inserting the reports directly into external Hive tables.

We were facing a lot problems like ERROR_GETTING_RESPONSE_FROM_BACKEND due
to the fact that we have accounts with for example 7 million ads.
Of course we retry, but sometimes, we get the error 10 times or more and
the API es very slow also when downloading those accounts. It seems times
grow exponentially compared to account with half the size.

We were expecting AwReporting to solve that, but:

1) It uses the same API, so basically it is the same code we have already
written => same problems with large accounts
2) It does not allow us to save directly to CSV, or TSV files that could be
directly used in Hive tables, as many of the one managing large datasets
are probably doing. We cannot save the data to a DB just to transform it
later.
3) It creates all the objects in memory and uses Hibernate to save the
objects into the DB?!?! We are getting "Out of memory" exceptions for
almost all our accounts.

Simply put, I don´t think this will work for any large-scale API consumer.
Either you don´t care, or you didn´t make the proper effort into
understanding our real needs.

In any case, is very disappointing.
Let me know if we can help in any way to make this a real useful solution.

Re: Can't create user account

2013-11-21 Thread Josh Radcliff (AdWords API Team)
Hi Andrea,

I see that you have created a *test* MCC account and some child client
accounts. In order to use the API, however, you need to also create a
*non-test* ("real") MCC account and then submit a developer token account
for the *non-test* MCC. While that application is pending, you can use the
*non-test* MCC developer token for API calls against your *test* MCC
account's child accounts.

My most recent reply to this
post
contains
a grid of dev token and customer type combinations and the API calls
allowed for each.

In terms of the credit card information, you do need to supply this but the
card will not be charged. You will also need to specify a Monthly API
Budget, but you can just enter $1 for that value.

Thanks,
Josh, AdWords API Team

Did you find the reason for this? I'm also seeing the same kind of

Returns this:

URL_PERFORMANCE_REPORT impressions discrepancy with AdWords UI

2013-11-21 Thread MT
When fetching URL_PERFORMANCE_REPORT, clicks and cost per domain match the
Placements report in the UI. However, impressions do not, they are much
lower in the API report than in the UI (usually around 50 %, but in some
cases much less).

For example this query:

SELECT+Domain%2C+Impressions+FROM+URL_PERFORMANCE_REPORT+DURING+20130101%2C20131031

returns this:

"URL_PERFORMANCE_REPORT (Jan 1, 2013-Oct 31, 2013)"

In the UI, the total for all rows is 121,190. See for example
"mail.google.com",
which has 54971 impressions in the UI, but only 13 in the URL Performance
Report (summing the seven rows with that domain). If I include cost and
cliicks in the API report, those match with the UI.

(There's only one campaign & adgroup for display network on that account.
The results are the same if I include the campaign and adgroup columns in
the API report)

Hi,

Which type of ad extension are you trying to add to the AdGroup? If you're
looking for sitelink, call or app extensions, you can use the
AdGroupFeedServiceto
map a feed to your AdGroup. You may want to check out our Feed
Services
Guideif
you're new to feeds.

Re: QuotaCheckError.INCOMPLETE_SIGNUP @

2013-11-21 Thread Josh Radcliff (AdWords API Team)
Hi,

In your auth.ini file is the *clientCustomerId* the ID of your test MCC
account? With a pending developer token you can only issue requests
against a child account of your test MCC.

To create a child of your test MCC:

   1. Log in to the test MCC account and click *My
   Client Center*
   2. Click *Create account* and fill in the required information
   3. Update your *auth.ini* file's *clientCustomerId* with the
xxx-xxx- customer ID of your newly created child account

This should do the trick, but please post back if you're still having
trouble.

Re: Has Anyone Solved The QuotaCheckError.INCOMPLETE_SIGNUP Error?

2013-11-21 Thread Josh Radcliff (AdWords API Team)
Hi,

It sounds like you have everything set up properly but are attempting to
execute API calls against a *non-test* customer ID using the pending dev
token from your *non-test *MCC. As mentioned in one of the posts you
referenced ,
while your dev token is pending you can only issue API calls against *test*
customer
accounts (the child accounts of your test MCC). I'll see if we can make
this clearer in the test account documentation.

Re: "AuthorizationError.USER_PERMISSION_DENIED" - worked fine in v201302

2013-11-21 Thread Josh Radcliff (AdWords API Team)
Hi,

When you went through the steps to obtain a refresh token, were you logged
into an account that has access to the customer ID used in your API call?
That error suggests that you may have been logged in as a different user
when you clicked *Accept* during that process.

Although the Cloud Console does not include AdWords in the list of APIs,
the OAuth2 process includes a scope parameter that will limit the token's
access to only AdWords.

It seems to work properly when I
1. GET a ful copy of the template Ad
2. Clear the "templates" property of the Ad
3. set the originAdOd to the "id" of the original
4. clear the "id" property
5. set the "url" as appropriate
6. ADD this copy as a new Ad

looks like it creates a faithful copy of the original.

Thanks for your help.

Re: URL Performance Report

2013-11-21 Thread MT

Did you find the reason for this? I'm also seeing the same kind of
discrepancy in URL Performance Report impression figures (clicks and cost
match with the UI).

For example, this query:

SELECT+Domain%2C+Impressions+FROM+URL_PERFORMANCE_REPORT+DURING+20130101%2C20131121&__fmt=TSV

Returns the attached file URL Performance Report.txt (had to include this
as an attachment, otherwise Google Groups marks my post as spam due to the
URLs)

Whereas the Display Network: Placements tab in the UI shows this:

With total impressions at 121190. Of the individual rows, see for example
"mail.google.com", which has 54971 impressions in the UI, but just 13 in
the APi report (when you sum the 7 rows for that domain). If I include
clicks and cost in the API report, those match with the UI.

(There's only one campaign and adgroup in this account. If I include the
campaign and adgroup columns in the API report, the results stay the same).
