Re: How to get Ad group name and Ad name for video campaigns from AdWords?

2016-02-11 Thread Ketaki
Thank you Anthony for the quick reply.

Now we can fetch AdGroupName from the video report itself. That's a good
news for us. Is there any specific reason of not adding Ad name in the
Video Performance report?

We know the hierarchy for normal campaigns but we didn't understand the
hierarchy of ads, videos for video campaigns. Can you please provide
information or its documentation link?

Re: What is the ClickType display value in the Ad Performance Report for "Purchase on Google"?

2016-02-11 Thread 'Nadine Sundquist (AdWords API Team)' via AdWords API Forum
Hello Hans,

Purchases on Google is a fairly new feature. I've noticed that sometimes
reporting can lag a bit behind; that's also the case with the API. I
haven't heard of any plans for adding this. There are a few items in
ValueTrack that are not available in the reports. There are some people who
just link their accounts with Google Analytics
, use Google
Analytics to do analysis on their ValueTrack parameters, and use the Google
Analytics API to pull that data.

Cheers,
Nadine, AdWords API Team

Re: Google Adwords API java -> Exception in thread "main" AxisFault

2016-02-11 Thread saravanan . thoppan
Hi,

I am getting the same error and I infact downloaded the certificate for
"adwords.google.com" and things worked fine afterwards. However, the very
next day it started coming again and so had to download the certificate
again. May I know why do I need to download it daily OR is there any
resolution available?

Below is the code snippet to get AdwordsSession:

 HttpTransport httpTransport = new
NetHttpTransport.Builder().doNotValidateCertificate().build();
JsonFactory jsonFactory = JacksonFactory.getDefaultInstance();
InputStreamReader propStream = new
InputStreamReader(AdwordsSessionFactory.class.getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream("conf/credentials.json"),

"UTF-8");
GoogleClientSecrets clientSecrets =
GoogleClientSecrets.load(jsonFactory, propStream);
GoogleCredential credential = new
GoogleCredential.Builder().setTransport(httpTransport).setJsonFactory(jsonFactory).setClientSecrets(clientSecrets).build();

AdWordsSession adWordsSession = new
AdWordsSession.Builder().from(this.adwordsPropConfiguration).withOAuth2Credential(credential).build();
return adWordsSession;

Thanks,
Saravanan

BatchJobService downloadUrl null

2016-02-11 Thread AdWords API User
Hi,

We are looking at migrating from the MutateJobService to the
BatchJobService, using the .NET client library. However, when we run the
C# example "AddCompleteCampaignsUsingBatchJob", the job completes, but the
downloadUrl property is null and there are no processing errors. We are
seeing the same results with v201509 and v201601 of the API (versions
18_17_0 and 18_22_0 of the client library).

I appreciate that the batch job service provides no guarantees in terms of
response times, but a trivial job that takes fifteen minutes to process
with the proposed "exponential backoff" model, is simply not usable with
the current architecture of our application. We did not experience any
performance issues with the MutateJobService, and are concerned about
migrating to a service with these initial results.

The output from the example is shown below, but if you require response and
request details please let me know.

John

Membership duration bound to user list or to ad?

2016-02-11 Thread alexander.daniel via AdWords API Forum

Dear AdWords API Team and fellow devs,

what I got from the docs so far:

Membership duration is the number of days a user's cookie stays on your
remarketing list.

How it works: When you create a remarketing list, you decide how long a
visitor's cookie stays on your list if that person doesn't visit your site
again.

Can you please comment on my educated guesses:

   1. Membership duration for a visitor depends on the site of the ad. If he
visits the site within the membership duration he stays on the list. This is
tracked via Google search or a Google pixel added to the site.
   2. The members in the user lists stay the same because whether somebody is
in/out is tracked via the ad associated with a site. Therefore when creating a
new campaign with ad group and ad the whole user list is used.
   3. When a user is added to the user list via the API after ad creation the
membership duration starts at that very moment.

Best,
Alex

How to get Ad group name and Ad name for video campaigns from AdWords?

2016-02-11 Thread Ketaki

I am downloading the video performance report data from AdWords api. I want
to get Ad Group name and Ad name in the output data. But these fields are
not available in the report fields.Instead the report has Ad group Id and
Ad Id (CreativeId).

I need to get Ad Group Name and Ad name for video campaigns. But Adwords
team has stated, we cannot retrieve campaigns, adgroups by SOAP services for
video campaigns

Can i get these values from Ad Performance report for the required account
ids and then merge these values with output data of Video Performance
report? But i am not sure about whether Ad Performance report can return
data for Ad Group name and Ad name every time for token related to video
data.

Is there any other approach to get these names?

Re: UI reports error for successfully uploaded CrmBasedUserList using APIv201509

2016-02-11 Thread Hunter
Hi Anthony,

I don't have the SOAP request/response for this particular upload, but I
could re-generate the same request again and upload it under a different
name. My main concern was that the API response originally returned
success, otherwise our process would have returned the error from the API.
So this seems like an issue in processing *after* the upload. I wasn't sure
where to voice such questions and/or reports.

Happy to re-generate this request if you think it would be useful.

Thanks.
Hunter.

Greetings!

I'm happy to hear that's working for you so far.

Yes, neighborhoods and boroughs are subdivisions of cities. For example,
the city of New York (NYC) is split into 5 boroughs of which Manhattan is
one of the 5 boroughs. The LocationCriterionService

 has
a field called parentLocations

in Location

 that
will tell you if the location you passed in is a subset of another location.

Add ads with text that includes phrases like weapon names or brand names

2016-02-11 Thread abc def
Hi,

to add campaigns, adgroups, ads and keywords for Google AdWords I am using
the Google Adwords API.

But sometimes I want to add ads with text that includes words like "blau",
"Pfeife", "Aurora" or "Karabiner".
This german words means the color blue, a pipe, a fancy word and a hook.
But the ads will be rejected because
the programm detected a brand problem, and forbidden themes like tobacco,
drugs and weapons.

Is there a possibility to add these ads to Google AdWords?

Kind Regards,
Christian Fuchs, Germany

Hi Saravanan,

I would talk to your system administrator to see why your cert store is
missing the certificate for adwords.google.com. My guess is that you had to
download it again the next day because there's some automated process (from
your sys admin) that refreshes your cert store each night.

Thanks,

Re: trying to get report but always just get "ReportDownloadError.MISSING_PARAMETER" "Missing report definition"

2016-02-11 Thread Wesley Ide
Hi Yin,

Yes, Im using Java client library. I saw the examples, and with one of them
I had a better error message. The problem was the dateRangeType ALL_TIME
which I was using, but the response message says it is invalid (but had in
documentation).
It is strange, because the same parameter works with a rest application
(which I mentioned before). But now I using with another form the
dateRangeType.

Thanks Yin!!

Custom report timing out

2016-02-11 Thread Adrian Pell
I have a strange case where one report that we request through the API
never returns a response. That is, no matter how long we leave it, there
is never a response to the HTTP POST containing the report spec.

Looking at some earlier discussion, there was talk about timeouts - which
indicated that these should not be necessary since we should either get the
requested data, or an Adwords error to which we can respond in some
appropriate way (reduce scope, segments, etc.) I get neither.

The report in question is a Geo Performance Report, segmented by Campaign,
Month, City ... which is probably quite large, but I would still expect a
response. We have some other pretty large reports with similar specs
(although for different accounts) which succeed.

Any ideas what might be going on? I'm quite happy to split the report up
further ... but I don't want to do that unless necessary, since every other
similar report succeeds.

BTW - setting a Timeout in the .NET API (the default is indefinite) causes
a different problem which I've logged an issue for in Github.

Thanks

Adrian

BTW - I'm using the latest 18.22.0 version of the .NET API although still
with the v201509 version of the protocol.

Re: Membership duration bound to user list or to ad?

2016-02-11 Thread 'Yin Niu' via AdWords API Forum
Hi Alex,

Let me try my best to answer your questions.
List membership is managed by cookies. The member duration is how long
you’d like to store a cookie in someone’s computer and target him or her.

   - Membership duration decides how long before the cookie expires. If you
set duration to 30 days, the cookie will expire in 30 days. The
visitor's cookie is deleted from the list at the end of the duration if
there's no new activity. If the person visits your site again, the clock is
reset for another 30 days or for the duration you've set.
   - The members in the remarketing list will vary when cookie expires or
if the users deleted the cookies by themselves by clearing up the browser
or when new cookie is collected.
   - Membership duration starts when the user visits the site and the
   cookie is collected.

If you have more questions regarding remarketing list membership, please
post them on AdWords forum

.

Thanks,
Yin, AdWords API Team.

 Hi,

AdWords account can be used by both users who use the API and other
 users who dont.

As an example, I now have to manually edit/delete about 100 rules in an
 account.
In the interface I cant sort by execution date, and I cant even
copypaste the relevant ad groups... I need to hover the mouse over the
 information bubble and manually - m a n u a l l y - write down each ad
 group name.

Just fetching a list of automated rules with all relevant data would be
a revolutionary improvement... a simple CSV would do.

Access to automated rules via the API would be useful to
 - Edit rules created by users without API access.
 - Create rules that can later be edited by users without API access.

Of course, nothing beats the information bubble in terms of speed and
 ease of use.

Re: UNAUTHORIZED_USER error is showing while uploading offline conversion

2016-02-11 Thread 'Umesh Dengale' via AdWords API Forum
Hi Vijaysinh,

The UNAUTHORIZED_USER

  - this customer is trying to upload conversions for a different customer
that it does not manage.

This suggests that the credentials you are using for the request are for a
user who does not have the access to the customer from which the clicks
originated. I recommend confirming which account those clicks belong to,
making sure that account is in the clientCustomerId header, and confirming
that the OAuth credentials you are using are for a user with access to that
account.

Regards,
Umesh, AdWords API Team.
