Conversion Tracking (Reporting and Tools / Conversions)

2010-12-14 Thread Kemal
Hi,

Is there any way to get separate conversion count and value figures
per action via the API? A datatable with columns like, action name,
tracking purpose, conversions(m-p-c) and value.

It is available in the Adwords UI in the Reporting and Tools menu,
Conversions link. (https://adwords.google.com/o/ConversionTracking/
Manager is the url, plus __c and __u params)

Thanks.

AdWords API NON_MULTIPLE_OF_MINIMUM_CURRENCY_UNIT confusion

2010-04-02 Thread Kemal
Hello,

Some of my budget mutate requests get
NON_MULTIPLE_OF_MINIMUM_CURRENCY_UNIT, most don't, and all the values
are rounded with 2 digits after the decimal point (well, converted to
microUnits afterwards, obviously)

Setting budget to 241.38 works, but setting another campaign's budget
to 259.71 won't work. Two different campaigns. First reqid is
63ee80f03c3f81471f23a12c04861069, and the second one is
5dfcf48d3f485c1ec6d3c4ab29b44670.

I actually wrote some exception handling code that, if it encounters
BudgetError.NON_MULTIPLE_OF_MINIMUM_CURRENCY_UNIT the first time, it
will try again with a fully-rounded budget amount (260 instead of
259.71)

Again, the numbers are converted to microUnits (multiplied by 100)
before they are passed into the Money() constructor.

By the way I couldn't find any info about minimum money units in the
documentation. In fact, a clear documentation about microAmount/Money
and reference to it in the CampaignService.BudgetError page would be
really useful for new implementors.

Best,
Kemal

AdWords API Same AdParam for different Criteria in same AdGroup: AD_PARAM_CANNOT_BE_SPECIFIED_MULTIPLE_TIMES

2010-03-23 Thread Kemal
Hello,

I am trying to set the same AdParams (AdParamId's are the same, so are
the values) for different criteria in the same AdGroup, all in one
mutate call. But it throws me a
AD_PARAM_CANNOT_BE_SPECIFIED_MULTIPLE_TIMES error.

The documentation states that "The same ad param cannot be specified
in multiple operations". Isn't this quite a bit limiting? How are we
supposed to set a bunch of AdParams for an entire AdGroup in one go?
Multiple calls to mutate() for each and every keyword would just kill
the backend. Or do I have to use the BulkMutateJob service, even if I
don't want to?

Or maybe (well, hopefully) I triggered a bug in the API. Any comments?

The data goes like this:
An array of AdParamOperations with 14 elements. Operator is SET. Each
AdParam with the same AdGroupId.
First 7 AdParams set the same paramIndex (1) and the same
insertionText ("4") but each with different criterionIds.
Second 7 AdParams set the other paramIndex (2) and the same
insertionText ("8" in this case) each with different criterionIds as
well. (Actually the order of criterionIds match the first 7
operations)

The result is an array of AdParamErrors:
[AdParamError.AD_PARAM_CANNOT_BE_SPECIFIED_MULTIPLE_TIMES @
operations[2].operand; trigger:'AdParam already defined at index 1',
AdParamError.AD_PARAM_CANNOT_BE_SPECIFIED_MULTIPLE_TIMES @
operations[3].operand; trigger:'AdParam already defined at index 1',
AdParamError.AD_PARAM_CANNOT_BE_SPECIFIED_MULTIPLE_TIMES @
operations[4].operand; trigger:'AdParam already defined at index 1',
AdParamError.AD_PARAM_CANNOT_BE_SPECIFIED_MULTIPLE_TIMES @
operations[5].operand; trigger:'AdParam already defined at index 1',
AdParamError.AD_PARAM_CANNOT_BE_SPECIFIED_MULTIPLE_TIMES @
operations[6].operand; trigger:'AdParam already defined at index 1',
AdParamError.AD_PARAM_CANNOT_BE_SPECIFIED_MULTIPLE_TIMES @
operations[9].operand; trigger:'AdParam already defined at index 8',
AdParamError.AD_PARAM_CANNOT_BE_SPECIFIED_MULTIPLE_TIMES @
operations[10].operand; trigger:'AdParam already defined at index 8',
AdParamError.AD_PARAM_CANNOT_BE_SPECIFIED_MULTIPLE_TIMES @
operations[11].operand; trigger:'AdParam already defined at index 8',
AdParamError.AD_PARAM_CANNOT_BE_SPECIFIED_MULTIPLE_TIMES @
operations[12].operand; trigger:'AdParam already defined at index 8',

AdWords API Exemption reason in v2009 Exemption Requests?

2010-01-15 Thread Kemal
Hello,

Seems like the v2009 ExemptionRequests don't have a reason field to
fill in. The constructor just takes the PolicyViolationKey (which
includes policyName and violatingText) and that is passed in from the
ApiExceptionFault we get from the server/AdGroupAdService.

Is this an incompleteness on v2009's part, or is it planned behavior?
Should we expect a "reasonText" field to be added in the next API
revision? (Currently v13 api requires a reason in the exemption
request)

Cheers,
Kemal

Thanks for the update. We are addicted to our creative detail reports,
so I'm waiting for further details/solution on this.

On another note, ExternalCustomerId column is not available for
keyword and creative reports, but works for campaign reports.
Currently I match those using CustomerName since nothing else is
available, which is messy since accounts get renamed sometimes. I
can't think of any reason to not support ExternalCustomerId in all
report types. Could you ping the api team on this?

Yeah, Bid Simulator in the API would be great!

I'd also love to see the ability to accelerate campaigns via the API.

AdWords API Re: Reports API / Videos as "gadgetTemplate"s, videoPlaybacks field missing

2009-08-05 Thread Kemal

Thanks for the info. From what I understand, video ads are all
gadgetTemplates from now on. Actually I confirmed with a local Google
employee that, you can't add video ads without the use of the Display
ad builder. Currently it is the only way.

I checked an old campaign (generated a report) from 2008, and looks
like the old video ads are still of the type "video". Current
campaigns with old video ads are also OK. This is good news.

So, apparently the only problem is the videoPlaybacks column always
being 0. I ran a little query for "playbacks=0 and
otherPlaybackColumns>0" on my system, and noticed that it started
towards the end of last year, on a bunch of ads with the type "video".
This date could be wrong because there are only a few matches before
two weeks ago, on July 21st, some "gadgetTemplate" ads. These dates
are the last updated dates on my side, and reflects to the last
updated dates of daily report rows. We don't always do video ads, so
the bug should have emerged before July 21st. Hope this helps.

All the best,
Kemal

AdWords API Re: Reports API / Videos as "gadgetTemplate"s, videoPlaybacks field missing

2009-08-04 Thread Kemal

Hello,

Seems like the videoPlaybacks column is back, but it is always "0",
even though the videoPlaybacksThrough25Percent/50Percent/75Percent/
100Percent columns are greater than 0. creativeType is still
"gadgetTemplate" by the way, shouldn't it be "video"?

One of the job ids is 1046482951. Our reports are auto-generated on
the MCC level, more than a few times a day. So if the report expires
(and is not accessible) before you have a chance to look at it, just
let me know and I'll get back to you with a fresh jobId.

Thanks!

AdWords API Reports API / Videos as "gadgetTemplate"s, videoPlaybacks field missing

2009-07-27 Thread Kemal

Hello,

In the reports api, the videos in the creative reports are now the
creativeType "gadgetTemplate" instead of "video". Confirmed this on
two separate accounts.

The videoPlaybacks field is always 0, although the fields
videoPlaybacksThrough25Percent, videoPlaybacksThrough50Percent,
videoPlaybacksThrough75Percent and videoPlaybacksThrough100Percent are
greater than 0.

Here's a snippet I got from the Reports API's Creative Report (trimmed
some of the fields)

When I generate an Ad Performance report thru the Adwords Interface, I
get this:

videoPlaybacks field is gone, instead there are templateInteractions
and templateMouseovers fields.

Seems like something is broken and/or out of sync in the API. What to
do? Should I post this to the issue tracker?

Thanks.
