Placement targeting and reporting for mail.google.com

2018-06-17 Thread Mike-Indiana
Valuetrack parameter {placement} for managed campaigns as well as reporting
seems consistent. The exception is for mobile app clicks when targeting
mail.google.com

These are the steps I am using and getting.

1. Add a managed placement mail.google.com
2. The {placement} variable returns mail.google.com, even if it from a
mobile app click.
3. However, PLACEMENT_PERFORMANCE_REPORT is only reporting stats from
mail.google.com and does not include stats
from mobileapp::2-com.google.android.gm
4. URL_PERFORMANCE_REPORT includes the mobile stats

The problem that I am seeing with this, is that mail.google.com seems to be
the exception. All other placements seem to return the total stats for the
placement being targeted with PLACEMENT_PERFORMANCE_REPORT. When adding a
managed placement, a URL_PERFORMANCE_REPORT is not needed to get stats back
from the managed placement. In addition, live tracking always points to
mail.google.com since that is the valuetrack value.

If you wouldn't mind, please confirm that what I am seeing is correct, and
if so, a best solution for live tracking in this situation.

Re: Report from API different than {placement}

2017-02-17 Thread Mike-Indiana
Hi Josh,

I certainly appreciate you looking into this. Your response is great to
clarify what we should expect to receive in both valuetrack and reports.

I'm not sure if it's on the plate, but it would be helpful to pass the full
URL in ValueTrack and report data (if no-one asks, then no-one may know).

Thank you,

Mike

Hi Josh,

One more thing. I noticed that subdomains do not exist in the reports
either. For example, news.domain.com will come in from {placement} in
ValueTrack, but only domain.com in the reports.

Thank you,

Report from API different than {placement}

2017-01-03 Thread Mike-Indiana
Hello, this discrepancy seems to have existed for several years, I thought
that I would post.

Pulling AUTOMATIC_PLACEMENTS_PERFORMANCE_REPORT will yield non-www. domains
in the report for 'Domain'. For example, google.com

However when using valuetrack {placement} in ads, a click may yield either
google.com or www.google.com. However in the reports, it will not return
the www. version and assign the click data to the other.

*In short*, it would be kind if the API placements report would reflect the
same variable as valuetrack. Has anyone else noticed this, or is it an
issue on my setup?

googlebot_keyword in Reports

2014-08-11 Thread Mike-Indiana
I am noticing that googlebot_keyword is showing with a cost value from
the KEYWORDS_PERFORMANCE_REPORT. It has been in the reports before, but the
cost was always $0. $1.62 was there in this case. Furthermore, this is a
search network only campaign, and it is being returned as display /
placement.

However after subtracting this amount from the report, the total for an
adgroup in this case is correct, as the cost value for googlebot_keyword
seems bogus.

There are simple ways to ignore this in processing, however I wanted to
point it out to the team.

Thanks.

Re: googlebot_keyword in Reports

2014-08-11 Thread Mike-Indiana
Hi Ray, after more investigation this search adgroup triggered an automatic
placement, and ended up returning it in the automatic placements
performance report. This is a very closely related URL that shown the ad,
so I am pretty sure it's legit. However it does not show up in Adwords,
even after changing the campaign type to Search Network with Display
Select. Please ignore the info regarding googlebot_keyword. This was an
empty container in my database that was overwritten with the placement info.

I suppose that this is an issue I can ask my account rep, why this random
placement is not viewable.

Many thanks!

AdWords API Re: Ad Stats

2010-02-24 Thread Mike-Indiana
Hi Eric, thanks for the info.

How can you call 2 objects under selector? I am unable to get a
corresponding AdStatsSelector to AdGroupAdSelector. When I create a
new AdStatsSelector, it pulls all ads from my account, not the ones
from my adgroup.

Sorry, but I couldn't find any examples for stats in PHP.

This is what I am using currently, and it makes a mess by downloading
all adgroups as I stated above:

// Create selector.

$selector = new AdGroupAdSelector();
$selector-adGroupIds = array($adGroupId);

$selector = new AdStatsSelector();
$selector-startDate = '20090101';
$selector-endDate = '20100201';

$result = $adGroupAdService-get($selector);

 Hi Mike,

 In order to retrieve stats you need to add an AdStatsSelector object
 in your selector, with the date range specified.  This will cause the
 API server to return the Stats object with your results automatically.
