Re: Question regarding US geo-targets

2020-05-28 Thread Stephen Howe
Hi Mitchell,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I am still a bit unclear about the
implications of this.

If I pull a report by RegionCriteriaId, I am returned both Silicon Valley
and San Francisco Bay Area *as well as *California. All of these locations
have 'Region' status. Does the row for California *include *performance
from one or both of the Silicon Valley and San Francisco Bay Area regions?
In other words, if I want to see the performance of the United States by
state, should I
a) remove the rows with Silicon Valley and San Francisco Bay Area or
b) add those rows to the California total?
Which option will avoid double counting and align with the total United
States performance?

Regarding campaign targeting, your answer suggests that a campaign
targeting California will, by inclusion, target Silicon Valley. However,
any campaign currently targeting California will not be targeting the San
Francisco Bay Area region. Is that correct? Would you call this a bug?

Question regarding US geo-targets

2020-05-28 Thread Stephen Howe
Hi,

When pulling from the GEO_PERFORMANCE_REPORT by Region with constraints:
  IsTargetingLocation IN [true, false]
  AND LocationType = LOCATION_OF_PRESENCE
  AND CountryCriteriaId = 2840

I notice that two regions show up with longer RegionCriteriaIds than the
other US states. They are:
9073452 - Silicon Valley
9073451 - San Francisco Bay Area

All the other Regions are US states with 5 character RegionCriteriaIds.

This is slightly odd, but consistent with the geo-targets .csv file. My
concern is that both these Regions have the United States as their Parent
location (2840), not the state of California (21137).

*Questions:*
Does this mean that performance for Silicon Valley and San Francisco Bay
Area are not included if I pull a report WHERE RegionCriteriaId = 21137?

Furthermore, does this extend to targeting? If I set a campaign to target
only the state of California in Google Ads, will the campaign not target
the two separate regions: Silicon Valley and San Francisco Bay Area?

Low data using "Most Specific Location" even with "IsTargetingLocation IN [true, false]"

2019-06-18 Thread Stephen Howe
Hi all,

I am trying to report on users by county in the UK through the AdWords API,
using the following AWQL query:

SELECT
  Date,
  MostSpecificCriteriaId,
  CountryCriteriaId,
  Impressions,
  Clicks,
  Cost,
  Conversions,
  ConversionValue
FROM
  GEO_PERFORMANCE_REPORT
WHERE
  IsTargetingLocation IN [true, false]
  AND LocationType = LOCATION_OF_PRESENCE
  AND MostSpecificCriteriaId IN
[1007200,1007406,1007432,1007144,9041106,9041110,9041129,9041125,1007131,9041124,904,9041115,1007331,9041128,9041117,1007165,9041112,9041100,9041113,9041126,9041122,9041119,9041085,9041121,9041096,9041093,9041087,1006676,9041107,9041088,9041095,9041103,9041127,9041090,9041108,9041123,9041098,9041118,9041094,9041102,9041089,9041097,9041116,9041120,9041092,9041091,9041104,1007172,9041101,9041086,9041114,9041084,9041099,9041105,9041109]
DURING 20181217,20190617

The list of MostSpecificCriteriaId in the WHERE condition are all the
criteria IDs of the UK counties, according to the geotargets section of the
API.

These locations aren't targeted by my campaigns, so I added the condition

WHERE IsTargetingLocation IN [true, false]

hoping that I could get performance data for these locations.

I also enforced LOCATION_OF_PRESENCE in order to only report on people who
are really in these locations.

However, the traffic data I receive is extremely low when compared to the
total UK traffic. The resulting report only contains 1% of the clicks and
conversions throughout the whole country during this time period. Why is
this the case?

Bid Goal Performance Report TargetROAS not historically accurate

2019-05-16 Thread Stephen Howe
Hi,

I am attempting to analyze the performance of a target ROAS bid strategy
over time. The target ROAS value was changed several times over the last
few months, and I can see this in the Ads interface in the bid strategies
report (Tools > Bid strategies > my bid strategy).

However, when I query the BID_GOAL_PERFORMANCE_REPORT
,

with Date as a segment, the 'Target ROAS
'

column only shows the *current* target ROAS value across all dates. This
behavior is not documented, as far as I can see, so I found it quite
misleading.

My question is, is there any way to pull historical target ROAS values for
a bid strategy through the AdWords API? As far as I know, these entities
are not included in the change history, please correct me if I'm wrong.

If not, will this be possible using the new Ads API?

Thanks
Stephen

Re: Get report product goup all field using google adwords api

2018-06-13 Thread Stephen Howe
Hi Peter,

Is there any update on this? These columns are available in the equivalent
AdWords interface report for product groups, it seems odd that they aren't
available in the API. They would help a lot in my current project.

Thanks
Stephen
