Hello Nadine,

Setting the value to 0 definitely seems to unset the override. Thanks!

Will changes for handling AdWords Express campaigns in CAMPAIGN_PERFORMANCE_REPORT also affect CampaignService

2017-11-13 Thread adivenuti
Hello,

On November 10,the Google Ads Developer Blog

 announced
some changes concerning AdWords Express campaigns that would affect the
CAMPAIGN_PERFORMANCE_REPORT. The changes indicate that
ReportDefinitionService requests for a CAMPAIGN_PERFORMANCE_REPORT can now
pass back a new "advertisingChannelType" value of "EXPRESS" and an
"advertisingChannelSubType" value of "UNKNOWN" when an AdWords Express
campaign has been migrated.

There are other services in the API - e.g. CampaignService - that define
"advertisingChannelType" and "advertisingChannelSubType" fields. So my
question is - will these other services also return
"advertisingChannelType" value of "EXPRESS" and an
"advertisingChannelSubType" value of "UNKNOWN" for migrated AdWords Express
Campaigns?

Thanks!

How to clear a targetRoasOverride value?

2017-11-03 Thread adivenuti
The "targetRoasOverride" field that has been available since v201705 of the
AdWords API is described in the API's Bidding Guide
 as:

However, the description of this field in the latest AdGroupService API
documentation

 does
not indicate how the "targetRoasOverride" can be cleared from an Ad Group
once it has been set.

Can you advise me how to do that?

Thank you

Re: Rules for usage of new-for-v201609 campaignCriterionStatus field?

2017-02-27 Thread adivenuti
Hello Nadine,

Thank you for the quick reply. Currently it does not appear possible to
create a positive Criterion User List via the AdWords UI at the Campaign
level. There *is* a Google Ads Developer Blog posting

 that
suggests Campaign-level positive criterion user lists will be rolled out
shortly. When these Campaign-level positive criterion user lists are
rolled out to accounts - will they be available via the v201609 AdWords
API, or will support for them be introduced only in the next AdWords API
version?

Thanks again!

Rules for usage of new-for-v201609 campaignCriterionStatus field?

2017-02-27 Thread adivenuti
Hello,

One of the changes introduced for v201609 of the AdWords API concerns the
addition of a campaignCriterionStatus

 field
to the CampaignCriterion

 type.

Related changes have been introduced concerning the addition of a couple
new values to the "CriterionCriterionError.Reason" enumeration used in the
"CampaignCriterionService" -
"CANNOT_SET_STATUS_FOR_CRITERIA_TYPE" and
"CANNOT_SET_STATUS_FOR_EXCLUDED_CRITERIA". These seem to indicate that
there are restrictions concerning how the "campaignCriterionStatus" field
based on the value of the criterion's
"CampaignCriterionService.Criterion.Type" and/or value of its
"CampaignCriterionService.CampaignCriterion.isNegative" field.

I would like to know:

1) How is the "campaignCriterionStatus" currently being used? A quick
examination of the behavior of Campaign Criteria in the AdWords UI suggests
that the "campaignCriterionStatus" field is not yet exposed in that UI.
That is, I can only "Remove" existing Campaign Criteria - it does not
appear that I can "ACTIVE" or "PAUSE" them.

2) What are rules regarding whether or not "campaignCriterionStatus" can be
SET for a Campaign Criteria instances based on the value of its value of
its "CampaignCriterionService.Criterion.Type" and/or
"CampaignCriterionService.CampaignCriterion.isNegative" fields?

3) What are the rules regarding which specific values of the
"campaignCriterionStatus" enum are allowed for a Campaign Criteria based on
the value of its "CampaignCriterionService.Criterion.Type" and/or
 "CampaignCriterionService.CampaignCriterion.isNegative" fields?

For #2 and #3, I reviewed the documentation at the following links - but
they did not provide the answers I am seeking.

https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/appendix/targetingtypes

https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/appendix/criteria-usage

Thanks!

Re: What sort of Status changes are permitted to TextAds effective January 31, 2017?

2017-01-04 Thread adivenuti
Hello Peter,

Thank you for such a prompt response. So the API would, for example, allow
us to perform a SET operation that updates an existing Text Ad's status
from PAUSED to ENABLED? I am citing that case, specifically, because it
would appear to conflict with the goal of the AdWords team to migrate
customers from Text Ads to Expanded Text Ads as expediently as possible.
Therefore, I want to make certain that it will still be allowed on or
after January 31, 2017.

What sort of Status changes are permitted to TextAds effective January 31, 2017?

2017-01-03 Thread adivenuti
Hello,

I've read in the following AdWords Developer Blog post that the only
changes to existing Text Ads that will be allowed in any supported AdWords
API version on or after January 31, 2017 - are changes to the TextAd's
Status

http://googleadsdeveloper.blogspot.com/2016/09/more-time-for-upgrading-your-standard.html

Are there be any special restrictions to the values that may be assigned to
the AdGroupAdService.AdGroupAd.status

 field
in the "set" operation? For example, will the "set" only be allowed by the
API if the value of the "status" is being updated to DISABLED?

Thank you

AdGroupAdService behavior for TextAd instances for 10/26/2016 and later

2016-09-06 Thread adivenuti
Hello,

There's an AdWords Developer Blog posting available at:
http://googleadsdeveloper.blogspot.com/2016/07/begin-upgrading-your-standard-text-ads.html

that states the following in its 2nd paragraph:

Starting October 26, 2016, expanded text ads will become the primary Search
> network ad type, and creation of standard TextAds will no longer be
> supported in AdWords.
>

Can you provide some clarification on how the behavior of the
AdGroupAdService will change on this date?

For example, which of the following operation types will produce a failure
when applied to TextAd operands in the supported versions of
AdGroupAdService.mutate calls?

- ADD
- UPDATE
- REMOVE

Thanks!

Hello Nadine,

Were you able to verify whether or not these changes will show up in calls

Thanks again,

Will "CustomerSynchService.get" operations report clearing of Target CPA and Conversion Optimizer bid mods?

2016-08-04 Thread adivenuti
Hello,

I've read the blog post concerning the impending clearing of platform bid
modifiers for Target CPA and Conversion Optimizer campaigns that is planned
to begin in late August available here:

http://googleadsdeveloper.blogspot.com/2016/08/clearing-platform-bid-modifiers-of.html

It's a very informative posting and my thanks to the AdWords API Team in
taking the time to document this in great detail!

One question that I have concerns whether or not these changes will be
reported by all-currently-supported API versions of the
CustomerSynchService.

If a customer within the AdWords UI were to make the same changes in his
account that are listed beneath the section in the blog posting with the
heading "Here are some changes that you’ll see in your account before the
new features launches", then I would expect those various changes to be
available via calls to the CustomerSynchService.get operation in the data
that is returne for:

CustomerSynchService.AdgroupChangeData.removedAdGroupBidModifier
CustomerSynchService.CampaignChangeData.removedCampaignCriterion
CustomerSynchService.CampaignChangeData.addedCampaignCriterion

So will the changes that AdWords makes to clear the bid modifiers be
reported back via CustommerSyncService.get calls in the same way that they
would if the customer had performed those same changes in the AdWords UI.

Many thanks!

-Al

Question regarding scope of reporting change in v201605

2016-06-30 Thread adivenuti
Hello API Support team,

Hello,

I have a question regarding one of the changes outlined in the "Reporting"
section of the v2010605 API Release Notes:

https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/#reporting

Specifically, my question concerns this change:

*Inclusion of additional criteria types in the Criteria Performance report*

*The CRITERIA_PERFORMANCE_REPORT now returns rows for criteria types that
are not supported in the AdWords API version of the report request (for
example, new criteria types that were introduced since the last AdWords API
release). Rows for these criteria appear in the report with CriteriaType
value unknown (or UNKNOWN if you set the new useRawEnumValues HTTP header
to true).*

Does this change impact earlier, supported versions of the AdWords API or
does it apply only to v201605? The reason I am asking is because there are
several changes that were announced with the release of the v2010605 API
that actually pertain to all currently-supported API Versions (e.g. the
addition of the SearchClickShare field to the PRODUCT_PARTITION_REPORT and
SHOPPING_PERFORMANCE_REPORT reports) - so it seems best to ask whether or
not this is one such change.

Thank you,
-Al

Re: Differences between similar fields in UserList and CriterionUserList entities

2016-06-23 Thread adivenuti
Hello Joyce,

Thank you so much for following up with your team to provide an answer to
my question.

I have a few related questions below.

1) Does a similar relationship exist between the value of a
*CampaignCriterionService.CriterionUserList.userListEligibleForSearch*
field and the value of a *UserList.isEligibleForSearch* field for an
instance of a *UserList* whose *id* field is referenced by the *userListId*
field of the *CampaignCriterionService.CriterionUserList* instance?

2) Does similar relationship exist between the value of an
*CampaignCriterionService.CriterionUserList.userListEligibleForDisplay*
field and the value of a *UserList.isEligibleForDisplay* field for an
instance of a *UserList* whose *id* field is referenced by the *userListId*
field of the *CampaignCriterionService.CriterionUserList* instance?

3) Does similar relationship exist between the value of an
*AdGroupCriterionService.CriterionUserList.userListEligibleForDisplay*
field and the value of a *UserList.isEligibleForDisplay* field for an
instance of a *UserList* whose *id* field is referenced by the *userListId*
field of the *AdGroupCriterionService.CriterionUserList* instance?

I suspect the answer to all of the above is "yes", but it never hurts to be
sure! :-)

Thanks again,
-Al

Re: Differences between similar fields in UserList and CriterionUserList entities

2016-06-20 Thread adivenuti
Hello Joyce,

Thank you for your detailed response. The explanations you provide are
very clear and make sense, but they do not quite fully answer my inquiry.

I probably did not phrase my inquiry in the most direct way in my initial
posting, so let me try another way of posing the question.

a) Let's say I have created an instance of an
*AdwordsUserListService.UserList* and it has an *id* field value of 1234
and an *isEligibleForSearch* field value of "true".
b) Let's say that I have an instance of an
*AdGroupCriterionService.AdGroupCriterion* entity whose *criterion* field
is an instance of *CriterionUserList*
c) Let's say that the particular *CriterionUserList* set for the
"criterion" has a *userListId* value of 1234 that references the
*AdwordsUserListService.UserList* instance from "a".

So now my question becomes...

Would the *userListEligibleForSearch* value for the *criterion* described
in "c" be determined by the value of the i*sEligibleForSearch* field for
the referenced *UserList*? If not, what factors would determine the value
of the *userListEligibleForSearch* value of this *criterion* - keeping in
mind that the value of the *userListEligibleForSearch* field is not,
itself, settable via the AdWords API?

Thanks again!
-Al

Differences between similar fields in UserList and CriterionUserList entities

2016-06-15 Thread adivenuti
Hello AdWords API Team,

I have a question regarding the function of a couple of fields that are
being introduced for the *CampaignCriterionService.CriterionUserList* and
*AdGroupCriterionUserList.CriterionUserList* types in v201603 of the
AdWords API.

The new fields are:

   - *CampaignCriterionService.CriterionUserList.userListEligibleForSearch*
   - *CampaignCriterionService.CriterionUserList.userListEligibleForDisplay*
   - *AdGroupCriterionService.CriterionUserList.userListEligibleForSearch*
   - *AdGroupCriterionService.CriterionUserList.userListEligibleForDisplay*

Each instance of a *CampaignCriterionService.CriterionUserLis*t and
*AdGroupCriterionService.CriterionUserList* specifies a *userListId* field
- which references a *AdwordsUserListService.UserList.id* value in the
account and, therefore, identifies the UserList entity that the
*CriterionUserList* that has been linked to the AdGroup or Campaign.

Now my question arises from the fact that the *UserList* entity, itself,
defines the following two fields:

   - *UserList.isEligibleForSearch*
   - *UserList.isEligibleForDisplay*

Those two *UserList* above and the four *CriterionUserList* fields
mentioned earlier look very similar. Can you explain what the difference
in purpose is between the *UserList* and *CriterionUserList* fields? I'm
unclear as tp why the four *CriterionUserList* fields exist separately from
the two *UserList* fields.

For example, under what circumstances would a value of
*CampaignCriterionService.CriterionUserList.userListEligibleForSearch* be
set to a different value than the value of the
*UserList.isEligibleForSearch* field on the corresponding *UserList* entity
whose *id* value matches the *CriterionUserList.userListId* value?

Many thanks!
-Al
