Re: AdGroupAdService Selector XML

2012-03-06 Thread HughAJWood
That's the alternate solution, however we do thousands of price checks and
changes per hour in our business, this task was done manually up until this
point, the problem is the existing site is so big now it would take us
months to rewrite.

I wanted the ASP solution purely because it would purely be for updating
prices on adverts, everything else would still be micromanaged.

Once the ASP solution is in place as a bridge we will look forward.

Thank you Anash, you are a great help.

Hi Hugh,

I understand, I think we had this discussion about ASP and AdWords API a
couple of years back. I'd probably start by building a webservice that can
make the API calls (written in in PHP or .NET) and then modify the site to
call the intermediate web service. That way you can use a client library
without investing to rewrite the whole site in another language. Of course,
it will be slightly slower than the existing solution due to the additional
hop, that's something you can weigh against the effort to rewrite the whole
site.

Cheers,
Anash P. Oommen,

Cheers Anash, that is exactly what the doctor ordered.

We can't currently use any of the client library's as the entire system is
build in classic ASP, I am trying to get the software and hardware upgraded
to move to .net or php but we just don't have the resource for moving such
a large website over.

Regards Hugh.

Hi Hugh,

I've given a sample request xml for retrieving all the adgroups under a
campaign. Hope it helps:

POST https://adwords.google.com/api/adwords/cm/v201109/AdGroupService
HTTP/1.1
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; MS Web Services Client
Protocol 2.0.50727.5448)

Content-Length: 1378
Accept-Encoding: gzip

Also, is there a reason why you are not using a client library?
