Hi Tim, We've recently updated the help article linked off this page to clarify that the characters are double-width and not double-byte (since single-width characters can be multiple bytes): http://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/answer.py?hl=enanswer=152058 The determination is made based on the display width of the character, not the number of bytes. This mostly affects CJK languages. See the help page for more details. I've filed a bug to update the documentation on the limits appendix to correctly reflect this change. Thanks for pointing it out. Greetings, On the: http://code.google.com/apis/adwords/docs/appendix/limits.html page. There is no specification for most fields whether the length limit is in terms of unicode characters or bytes. Could you change this? Also, until the change goes through, could you specify this here? 1. Ad.Headline. Docs say length is by byte. True? 2. Ad.Description1/2. Docs say see above so assuming by byte. True? 3. Ad.DisplayURL. ? 4. Ad.DestinationURL. ? RFC says no unicode. But unicode could be converted to % by google. By Byte? 5. AdGroup.Name ? 6. Campaign.Name ? 7. Criterion.Keyword ? 8. Criterion.PlacementURL (see #4) 9.
