UP has a bunch of different purpose radio links out here, for much more
than just PTC. We have a few towers of theirs near town. They watch
them like hawks for unauthorized visitors.. Some of them have great
siting that many would like access to for building towers... Don't
bother asking...

labor at $1.60/ft, material (hangers, strand, anchors, etc. but not
fiber) at $0.60/ft.    Those are contractor numbers, you can probably
do it cheaper on labor with your own crew. The $0.60/ft is probably
good anywhere for material.

This is purely speculation, but it may be that they successfully

I think I've ordered stuff from them once or twice when it was an odd item,
and I found it through Google... I have no idea who they are, but they seem
to sell a pretty wide range of products. My guess is that they probably
drop ship from when of your distributors, and they just list everything
that distributor carries.

7/16" is pretty stout.  Toneable is a must.  We have a 500' 1/4"
one, and we wish it was toneable all the time...we currently pull
back detectable (toneable) muletape when we get a call to mark
empty duct.

Generally when I have been rodding it has been for shorter
distances.

But sometime you have to go a long distance.  I personally
have never done a long distance with a rodder.

Oh and by the way, my short experience taught me a great deal about UPR.
What I learned is that they are a fantastic company in all respects.
Everyone I dealt with was knowledgeable, very competent, and just really
great to work with. I have no doubt if they have the will to succeed as a
WISP they would. They may have decided they don't have the will.

I have insight I cannot divulge due to an NDA. I think it is safe to say
they were using more than 3.65. Being UPR it wouldn't be a violation to
state that they have a deep corporate culture since they are an enormous
company.

This is purely speculation, but it may be that they successfully determined
what they wanted to know. So in that respect, if it is true they are
shutting down, they may have decided that the miniscule profit turned by
even a wildly successful WISP is a fraction of a drop in the bucket in
comparison to the kind of money they make in a month. If you have ever
looked at their SEC filings you know what I mean. In the end, it may have
served as more of a distraction than anything else. All of that is purely
speculation as I was only involved in the pre deployment stage.

if you didnt make the change then its hijacked
make sure your .\ logging in for the local admin account if thats what
youre trying for
you can also reset some sids with any of the boot managers but i hate using
those on domain machines, especially servers
If the server isnt critical in this state, may just be quicker to wipe and
reinstall

[AFMUG] request services of the hive mind - windows active directory ? group policy?

2018-09-28 Thread CBB - Jay Fuller

This is windows / active directory. Any advice is welcome -

New problem that showed up after a recent external IT audit OR a security
update (not sure which). This applies only to the built in administrator
account on the domain - and only to the server (no other computers on the
domain). The administrator account has been renamed (it is now acsad). The
error is : The system administrator has restricted the types of logon (network
or interactive) that you may use. For assistance, contact your sys admin or
tech support (thanks ms).

The inability to use this account is also causing us to not be able to use
other programs on the server that use this account - such as patchmanagerplus
and trend micro's security.

We have looked in group policy - made sure security policy - user rights
assignment that the administrators account and remote desktop users have been
added. We've also compared the settings on this server to another server we
manage at another location (where all works) - the settings are the same so i
don't think THIS is where our problem is.

I'm thinking it has to do with a setting on THIS server computer. Again, I can
use the admin credentials to login to computers elsewhere on the domain. The
account just seems to be throwing this error when trying to login to the
server. Getting this error on remote desktop.

2018-09-28 Thread chuck
Anyone have a rule of thumb for aerial construction costs?
I know underground costs pretty well but it has been years since I did an
aerial project. --

They sure did have grand plans, but I think their approach was a little too
corporate based on the RFQ I saw a year and a half ago.

7/16" is pretty stout. Toneable is a must. We have a 500' 1/4" one, and we
wish it was toneable all the time...we currently pull back detectable

Generally when I have been rodding it has been for shorter distances.

But sometime you have to go a long distance. I personally have never done
