[AFMUG] global radome shortage

2020-08-08 Thread Ken Hohhof
Anybody know why there seem to be no Cambium N000900L021A Radomes? The ones
that go on ePMP and 450b dishes?

Is it because of overwhelming demand? Or was I the only one buying them?
Or a shortage of a critical component? (it's just plastic, right?)

How were you able to put up two 18ghz links on that tower before you
were able to get an ASR number from the FCC?

It only took them 4 months.

Not sure what I would have done if they had denied it. We
already put up two 18 GHz links off the tower (replacing 5 GHz).

The productivity of the land will really cause that number to vary. It could be
as little as 1.5 acres per cow-calf up to over 5 acres per cow-calf if your

Here, 5 acres might handle 3 or 4 cattle, and that might be pushing it;

Re: [AFMUG] Sports Streaming

2020-08-08 Thread Ken Hohhof
McD hamburgers seem tasteless to me, actually I’m not fond of fast food
burgers, even the the $7 ones. Have never understood the popularity of Five
Guys. I used to occasionally go to Smashburger, and would occasionally get a
Whopper at BK. Making burgers at home, the best thing I’ve found is “slider
buns”. If the meat sticks out beyond the bun, that’s a good thing. They are
also good for fish sandwiches and BBQ beef sandwiches.

Best fast food bargain IMHO is Wendys crispy chicken sandwich. I guess they
have Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers and Doublestacks if you really want a burger.
Menus have been slimmed down during Covid. Drive thru salads are hard to find.

Well the jokes on them because now it has spread there too. I really
think that the uptick in real estate is due to summer normal and people
realizing they don't make enough money to live in what they have after
loosing an income in there household for some extended period of time.
In my household it has turned in to I can't buy a $7 hamburger now
because I need to be saving money to buy the next bigger house because
she isn't making as much any longer.  I try to explain that a $7
hamburger a day only amounts to $2,500 a year so it doesn't
significantly amount to anything. That doesn't go over well though

Gee, move even farther out from the city and you will have to drill your own
well and put in a septic tank.
Even farther and you will be doing off grid solar and generators.
Even farther you will have to commute with a helicopter.

Never understood folks that move out into the country but expect city type

The Houston/Arizona game had an odd audio artifact.
Sounded like they were broadcasting from inside a culvert.

I've seen a big uptick in traffic over the last 2 or 3 weeks. Aren't
major sports starting up again? I'm guessing all the people who
switched to streaming only over the summer are now streaming the sports.

I've been dealing with one guy, he is on our lowest plan, and keeps
complaining that his sports are pixelated. And he's just gotta have
sports and just doesn't understand why it's not working perfect on his
4k TV. I can see he's maxed the connection 'My speed test is only
0.25mb and nothing in the house is running now, `still maxed traffic`,

I'm
guessing that the Variable bitrate codecs takes more for sports than
normal TV. I told him to upgrade his package, he said he didn't want
to spend any more money on Internet. He's on Hulu + live TV + Sports,
so that's already costing him more than what he's paying us, probably
close to what satellite costs. Then He wanted to know what TV to buy
to make it stream better, I told him that wouldn't help. Then he
wanted to know what WIFI extender to buy to make it stream better, I
told him that wouldn't help. But he's claims he is on a tight budget
and can't afford any more for internet. I told him to put up an
Antenna 'But then I can't get the sportsnet channel'
I told him to go find a new provider and stop calling me then. 'But
I don't like Comcast...' Tough, but I'm not talking to you anymore if
you're complaining about streaming. Priorities people have

How were you able to put up two 18ghz links on that tower before you were able

It only took them 4 months.

Not sure what I would have done if they had denied it. We already put up two
18 GHz links off the tower (replacing 5 GHz).
