My dad fought the Third Reich in WWII, and this whole nationalist, populist, anti-immigrant, anti not same race/religion/ethnicity as me thing is sounding familiar to me. Not really a left/right thing, but I think it’s a mistake to just write it off as some crazies or a mental health issue. We may not have the equivalent of the Nazi SS, but we have self radicalizing vigilantes and online mobs. Also news reports say the gunman chose the day there is no sales tax so families can get school supplies, and he went to a Walmart, knowing there would be lots of families and kids. Which there were. And if the manifesto is really his, apparently he wanted to shoot lots of Hispanics for “invading” Texas. Easy to see why Jaime would be upset at this. How would you feel if some outsider came to your town to shoot a bunch of people like you, families and kids shopping for school supplies? Pretty heinous.
