I always thought something like that too til sitepro sent that to us. that
was like winning the lottery finding that out. could be that sitepro buys
bulk water pipe, cuts to length then coats the whole thing inside and out.

I don't want it sticking out of the back and it came with the short HDMI

Re: [AFMUG] Pipe

2019-01-23 Thread chuck
I am running a field trial right now on cold galv spray paint, plasma arc
spray, regular paint and galv stick for repair of hot dipped galv parts.
So far the cold galv spray paint is actually seeming to be OK. I know chain
link fence people use it for the welds on the gates they make. I have never
trusted it. But I think I may be changing my opinion.

I could be wrong, but I think one of the differences when you buy antenna
mounting pipes from a microwave equipment distributor, is that the pipe is hot
dip galvanized after being cut to length, so that the ends don’t have exposed
steel.

Honestly, I’ve never seen a problem with pipe or conduit that was field cut to
length. If you obsess about such things, I guess you could spray some cold

Re: [AFMUG] Pipe

2019-01-22 Thread Craig Schmaderer
My go to pipe is 2.5” IMC, it has a 2.875 OD. I get it usually from my
electrical wholesaler, but if you have a Menards, they will ship to store for
free.

If you have an electrical supply store nearby, they should carry 3" (trade
size) IMC or rigid conduit. IMC will be considerably lighter and actually
stiffer than rigid.

enough for mounting larger dishes, etc? Anything at big chains to save

Re: [AFMUG] Pipe

2019-01-22 Thread Jesse DuPont

A local fencing supply place here has galvanized up to 8" in lengths
up to 20'. It's probably not quite as heavy as what you'd buy from
some place like site solutions, but it's still pretty heavy stuff. I
used their 4" for ice bridge posts and it's been solid.
About a year ago, I had ordered some 4" from a tower company and it
ended up taking a long time so I bought the 4" from the fencing
supply place and it was fine. Price wise, it was comparable after
shipping the other stuff.
