Virtual Hosts …. The web server looks at the request header to figure out which 
domain you are looking for… common on Apache and other webservers….

Oh! then *.domain.com needs to point to http://*.domain.com

Yeah. Virtual Hosting should do that for you as well. Generally you just 
put in a CNAME to www.domain.com for that to work properly.


I am doing this with Go-Daddy in the next few hours for a client. I'll 
make up some step-by-step instructions for you.

OK, so it may be possible then.  Just have to study up on it a bit.  
The server is a Godaddy linux server.  And they hide all the management behind 
their app.  
I thought I had it working once then got a redirect loop going.  

I have a call into a local guy that may help me get it sorted out.

I think I figured it out.  Went into the primary domain management and did the 
addon domain.  It appears to be working.  Made two different directories in the 
public html folder with the names of the domains as the folder names.

Name based hosting uses the HTTP “host” header to decide which site should be 
served.  If you just type the IP address in the browser you get the main site 
if one is defined, otherwise you get a 404 error.

We have that through Powweb.  We have about six web sites on one IP 
address.  They are all in subdirectories, and you put a special file in 
the root directory to redirect everything.
