It was related to the economic impact of broadband via Travis's comment. This report is also skewed if you really consider the source and peaks. Many 1Gbps connections are shadowing the hordes of DSL out there. This has been discussed on several sites in depth now, and the more accurate data set based on Akamai's state of the internet report that shows 0 states with an average broadband speed of greater than 25Mbps. Everyone want's gig this and gig that. Once HE is in our facility people can have their $390 GigE and do whatever it is they need a gig for. For the majority they end up with idle looking graphs. I forget which mailing list it was on but someone was bitching about GigE since it's so slow and useless with today's hardware that can easily saturate GigE why would anyone bother selling it? ~Seth

Reminds me of my grandma when she was diagnosed with lung cancer. She refused to wait for anything. She habitually cut in lines and bitched about being on hold. "I don't have much time left, I can't be bothered to wait in lines". What really made her mad was when her Apple password had to be changed and needed to have a capital letter and number. Those extra keystrokes were a real drag. We have a few 1 Gbps customers. Most are on 30 or 50 Mbps. People do upgrade
so they must believe they need more for some reason.
