Re: [AFMUG] Everyone.Net
We ran our own email server with 12,000 email accounts. It took up about 2 hours per week for a sysadmin person. Not really that hard. Everyone.Net is STILL having issues with their email systems. Going on 24 hours now. Amazing how they can still be in business. Travis On 2/2/2015 9:06 PM, Seth Mattinen wrote: On 2/2/15 6:40 PM, Josh Luthman wrote: Email is hard It's not technically hard. We ran our own email server with 12,000 email accounts. It took up about 2 hours per week for a sysadmin person. Not really that hard. No, it's not technically hard, but it's most certainly a pain in the ass. Well they charge $5.00 per email for their customers who cancel. That's good money! They should be able to afford something better. You would think with nearly 250K customers that it would make sense to run your own mail system. That is a ton of revenue going to everyone.net. When you go cheap, it'll bite you in the ass. - Mike Hammett Intelligent Computing Solutions http://www.ics-il.com - Original Message - From: "Travis Johnson" To: af@afmug.com Sent: Monday, February 2, 2015 7:48:47 PM Subject: [AFMUG] Everyone.Net Hi, When Digis purchased my company 20 months ago, they moved all of our email accounts (over 10,000 of them) to Everyone.Net. I'm not sure if we were one of their larger domains, but during the last 20 months, they have had more outages and problems than we had during the previous 10 years. Their SMTP service has been unresponsive for the last 8 hours... and their response is "we are working on it". Amazing. All they do is email and they can't even keep an SMTP service running. Travis
