You can't do a lot of things on this "new" version right now, hence why
I'd wait.

Looks like they posted early this AM the list of bugs and fixes they
*plan* to implement.

2015-12-09 Thread Joshua Stump
Yeah, they've been talking about it on the forums for a week or so. Pretty
happy about that myself as well. They no longer support windows directly
though. You'll need to install the package on a CCR or x86 router or run a
virtualbox with CHR...

This version is just a bug fix for the last beta. Can't wait to see what
new features are in the works.

Yes. Happy they finaly decided do s.th. to the DUDE. I am still a fan of.

For the moment it is a RouterOS Package which needs some time to exit beta
state.

So you need a Routerboard or a virtual Router to run this package in.

I'm certainly not holding my breath! I can't complain as the old 4.3

me a general "finger on the pulse" of my critical infrastructure and
wasn't hard to set up.

The reason I switched to the Windows server install was because RouterOS

You always could. It just installed as another package similar to SNTP
or CALEA, etc. I can't recall exactly how it presented itself in Winbox,
but you would install it and connect using the regular Windows client.

You're mistaken. It could be run as an agent for remote networks or as a
standalone server on ROS. They've removed the ability to use Windows
server for the backend (which on the older builds provided much better
performance).

That was part of the draw to Dude - you didn't have to have a windows
installation to throw it on to do its thing - you could install it on an
already on-premise RB.

2015-12-09 Thread Adam Moffett
Noit was a "dude agent" that you could install on RouterOS. You
would then add it to the Windows server as an agent. When you assign
services to a device you can optionally select an agent. The default
agent is the dude server, but you could select the router with the dude
package installed as an agent. That way you could set up probes on the
LAN side of a NAT router. I've used it several times.

When I first installed that "Dude" package, I assumed I'd be able to
