To be utterly frank about it I really don't know why manufacturers bother with speakers in the tV given how awful they sound. -Original Message- From: all-audio@groups.io On Behalf Of Gary Schindler Sent: Friday, 1 March 2019 12:45 PM To: all-audio@groups.io Subject: Re: [all-audio] Another tv, OR add speakers or sound bar? Re: [all-audio] Speakers
Thank you Dane for your explanation. I think it's what I was looking for. I think I'll stick to my old "pair of speakers" type of system. Howard On 2/28/2019 9:41 AM, Dane Trethowan wrote: The one good thing about all the Amazon speakers now is that they have line-out so you can use them with some other powered speakers, stereo Amplifier etc. The newer generation of Amazon Echo speakers have something called Dolby 360 and I tend to think this is a marketing therm rather than actually meaning that the speaker is stereo. It seems that - if you’re talking Smack Speakers - then you’re better to stick to the Smart Speaker brands themselves such as Amazon and Google. I have a Google Home Mac smart speaker here which is supposed to be the best sounding speaker in the Google range and its not bad but it is not portable and certainly wouldn’t fit the requirements of the original author of this thread. What I really like about the Google Home Max is its auto room tuning function. In many cases multi room speakers system are back to where it all started - feeding both stereo channels into one speaker - so in order to get stereo you need “A Pair”. There are multi room speakers that come as a stereo speaker such as the Denon Heos 7 and Heos 5 speakers. The Denon Heos 3 and Heos 1 are speakers speakers which you can pair together and that actually has advantages. You might just want to use one Denon Heos 3 speaker as a centre speaker for example. Getting back to the Google Home Max speaker I mentioned earlier. I’m considering getting another to make a pair. When the Mac lays horizontally its a stereo speaker though separation isn’t all that good. When the Max stands vertically it is a mono speaker and can be part of a pair if there are 2 Max speakers. You can do similar things with amazon echo speakers. I would hate to think that all these multi-channel systems send their output to only one speaker.. I don't think my amazon echo dot plays stereo so when I use it for music, I hook it up to my stereo system. Hi, Recently I was making a recording with the Olympus ls-p4 and at about the hour and 20 minute mark the unit emitted two tones of varying pitches. Re: [all-audio] Another tv, OR add speakers or sound bar?
It seems anymore these days the primary connection of devices is via HDMI, but it is not isolated to HDMI. Just like most things, it entirely depends upon the amount of money one throws at whatever situation. $100 is what I would honestly expect to pay for a decent SoundBar, but try and keep in mind, this is entirely subjective as are most things. -Original Message- From: all-audio@groups.io [mailto:all-audio@groups.io] On Behalf Of Gerardo Corripio Sent: Thursday, February 28, 2019 11:28 AM To: all-audio@groups.io Subject: Re: [all-audio] Another tv, OR add speakers or sound bar? Re: [all-audio] Speakers
Well you do know with the good quality offerings. I know that my B&W T7 has 2 3.5 inch drivers and 2 passive radiators along with a full DSP circuit to enhance the sound. > On 1 Mar 2019, at 1:39 am, Howard Traxler > wrote: > > Thanks Brian, it seems then, that when someone is selling a bluetooth > speaker, you don't really know what's in it, huh? > > Howard > > On 2/28/2019 8:32 AM, Brian Olesen wrote: >> Yo Howard, >> Some speakers are those so called bars, where there are 2 or more speaker >> units in each bar. Re: [all-audio] Speakers
The one good thing about all the Amazon speakers now is that they have line-out so you can use them with some other powered speakers, stereo Amplifier etc. > On 1 Mar 2019, at 1:14 am, Howard Traxler > wrote: > > Hi all, > > I'm wondering about the speakers that folks are talking about these days: > the blue tooth and the smart, etc. Are they one speaker or a box with two or > more speakers in it? Thanks Brian, it seems then, that when someone is selling a bluetooth speaker, you don't really know what's in it, huh? Yo Howard, Some speakers are those so called bars, where there are 2 or more speaker units in each bar. Others has a speaker on each side of them, and then again there are round structures with speakers inside that creates this stereo feeling. Then you have monorral speakers that some times can be paired as a synchronous stereo pair, if you prefer that. [all-audio] Sound Cloud
Hi, I'm considering an account with Sound Cloud given the increasing amount of clips and samples that I'm capturing using various pieces of recording equipment. Up till now I've been using Dropbox though as the amount of clips increase so does the struggle to keep things organised. Has anyone used Sound Cloud before? Sound cloud seems to be the obvious solution to my problem though there may be other solutions out there. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group. Re: [all-audio] B&O play a1 portable bluetooth speaker
An interesting choice but perhaps a rather costly one. You're going to have to buy 2 of these speakers if you want stereo sound and that's probably fair enough from B&O's point of view as you'll get good separation. I'm still using my B&W T7 which I bought nearly 2 years ago. I'm looking at the B&O review now. The author complains that the B&O Bluetooth speker isn't watertight? Well I don't give a damn about such things, I'm only interested in the audio quality and not marketing gimmiks. The B&O supports APTX which is great but not so important if you're planning to use the device with a piece of Apple hardware and I truly wish this would change. The author of the review I'm reading makes a point of mentioning the looks of the B&O speaker? Again that's something that doesn't worry me so long as I get good sound and preferably good enough sound that makes my speaker stand out from the pack which this speaker does it seems. Before you rush out to buy one I do suggest that you look at some other speakers such as the B&W T7 or the Keef Muo I think its called. The B&W T7 is a stereo Bluetooth speaker with surprisingly good separation and sound given the size of the device and as you already have a B&W system you will pretty much have some idea of what the T7 sounds like. The Muo has to be paired to get stereo sound. Anyway just my thoughts. -Original Message- From: all-audio@groups.io On Behalf Of André van Deventer Sent: Thursday, 28 February 2019 9:38 PM To: all-audio@groups.io Subject: [all-audio] B&O play a1 portable bluetooth speaker Hi folks I am in the market for a small portable Bluetooth speaker During my research I came across the B&O play a1 which had good reviews.
