If you've just opened a large document (60+ pages in my case) and are just checking through it when autosave saves the doc you will be sent to where the cursor is which is often right at the start, at which point you have to trawl through you document trying to find where you were. I think the program should really remember what you're viewing not just where the cursor is. This is very annoying in very large documents. I wasn't sure which sub-component to put this in, I've dropped it in UI for now. Chris. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To activate it, you have to set the appropriate environment variables SAL_ENABLE_FILE_LOCKING=1 and export SAL_ENABLE_FILE_LOCKING. These entries are already in disabled in the soffice script file. Change the following text: Warning: The activated file locking feature can cause problems with Solaris 2.5.1 and 2.7 when used in conjunction with Linux NFS 2.0. If your system environment has these parameters, we strongly recommend that you avoid using the file locking feature. Otherwise, OpenOffice.org will hang when you try to open a file from a NFS mounted directory from a Linux computer. change to -- Contrary to OpenOffice.Org Version 1.1.4[5] the file locking feature is now enabled by default. This may cause problems problems .. [as old text to end of paragraph] add: To achieve best NFS interoperability on Linux systems we recommend using kernels on clients and hosts from a recent kernel line such as the 2.6.x series. Some Type 2 links have a special formatting (example Bold, Black and *not* underlined). FIRST EXPORT: Save this test.sxw file as RTF format file test_from_OOo_to_RTF.rtf Open this new rtf file with Microsoft Word 2003 Results: Type 1 links are OK Type 2 links are OK == GOOD SECOND EXPORT: Save the test.sxw file as Microsoft Word XP doc format file test_from_OOo_to_doc_XP.doc Open this new doc file with Microsoft Word 2003 Results: Type 1 links are OK Type 2 links have become like Type 1 links == PROBLEM THIRD EXPORT: Open the test_from_OOo_to_RTF.rtf file with Microsoft Word 2003 Save as test_from_OOo_to_RTF_from_Word2003_to_doc.doc Results: Type 1 links are OK Type 2 links are OK == GOOD but need 2 exports for get doc file with preserved hyperlinks formatting ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION: Convince Recruiters to accept resumes in other format than Microsoft Word doc - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Out of the 318 OOO DLLs and 18 OOO EXEs checked, Dependency Walker only found two missing dependencies (MSCOREE.DLL and JAWT.DLL), but restoring those didn't fix StarBasic. It would be nice to know what StarBasic needs for calling DLLs, so I could investigate it further. I don't understand C++ well enough to learn from the OOO source code. I don't know what problem this system could have that would cause it to give the Not implemented error. I'm not sure how to send such a document because it crashes when I try to make one. Here are the steps I do when making a new document; Open OpenOffice using the command openoffice-1.9. In the File Menu, New subcategory, click on text document. In the Format Menu, click Page Click to the Page tab. Change all four Margins to 1.00 (I use Letter paper format which is default on my machine) Click on Header tab. Click header on. Change Spacing field to 0.10 Click on More button, this brings up the borders/background Add a bottom border, I usually make it 0.50 pt but sometimes I use 0.05 pt (I change nothing else so it is a black color) Click OK to close Border/Background Click OK to close Page Style: Default Click into the heading part of the document Type the tab keyboard key twice Type Page: then the spacebar In the Insert Menu, Fields submenu, click Page Number Type ':' In the Insert Menu, Fields submenu, click Page Count (I sometimes add a space afterwards just to move it away from the edge) Click down to the main body of the document In the Format Menu, click Paragraph (Indents Spacing comes up by default) Change First Line field to 0.30. (This probably can be any value because I have had the crash happen with a 0.50 and a 0.23 value) Click the choice box under Line spacing and select Double. Click OK button to close the Paragraph Type one page of text with a few paragraphs. (The first few crashes I used actual writing but since then I make a few lines of words then copy and paste it down to a little past the one page mark.) (I have noticed that sometimes the information in the header disappears) In the File menu, click save OR click the disk icon on the toolbar. Give the file a name then click the save button. (I usually save to /home/Docs/project name but it also crashes when trying to save to /home/user name ) I am not on my computer right now. I will test to see if it crashes when I do a [save as] with an existing document taken through the above steps. If that is the case then I will attach such a file. I hope I have clarified the steps I take that lead to this crash. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Certain cells display text that is smaller than the surrounding text, even though i have appled the same format to all of the cells (I have tried removing all conditional formatting, applying the default format, updating the default format, etc). I thought perhaps there was an issue with the actual sheet, so I copied the text to the clipboard and pasted it into nedit (a plain text editor). I then re-copied the text and pasted it into the new sheet. All of the text appeared the same size, but then suddenly Calc started to work and I watched in horror as one by one certain cells were resized to the smaller version. When I make the size of the text larger, all of the text increases in size but the same problem cells text size stay smaller than the rest. I finally fixed this problem by doing a reload from the file menu. Side note: The original document was an XLS worksheet - I saved it as an .ods file first before going through the steps listed above. The problem comes when I want to use the Forms wizard, or try to create a form in the Designer; in both cases OOo reacts with the message 'The field names of database.table could not be retrieved' Funny thing is, when I go to the 'Table' type of tasks, and doubleclick the table concerned, I get the contents of the table -including- their field names. I couldn't find the issue in the database, though I can hardly imagine no one stumbled across it... So I may have overlooked it, in which case my apologies. I run a Suse 9.2 box, on an Acer Aspire 1710 laptop kind greetings, jehojakim - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=48498 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun May 1 11:45:34 -0700 2005 --- I just installed my version of OOo 1.1.4 (built in Mac OS X 10.2.x) on a system running Mac OS X 10.4 (a clean install), and got the following behavior : 1) Running setup - it failed because of a missing /usr/lib/libdl.0.dylib I fixed this by making a symlink : /usr/lib/libdl.0.dylib - /usr/lib/libdl.dylib 2) Running setup - during installation, selected the default Java 1.3.1 VM, got errors about missing libl.1.dylib, and some dylib related to Java 1.4.2 - both errors I ignored, and installation completed successfully. 3) Launched my copy of Start OpenOffice.org, selected X11.app as the preferred X Window server, and OOo 1.1.4 launched successfully. 4) Opened an existing OOo document successfully. So I can not reproduce your problem. But since the crash appears in the Mac OS X locale stuff, are you running Mac OS X 10.4 with your preferred System language as being anything other than US-English? If your build is one by Eric Hoch or Eric Barchard, I will CC them on this issue, as they will be doing some Tiger testing of their (OOo 1.9m9x) builds soon. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. A traditional spell checker can just ignore these strings. I know that this is a compromise and not a replacement for a full grammar checker API, but it's better then nothing (e.g. it would be powerful enough to find the then/than error in this sentence :-) XSpellAlternatives could be extended to know of a grammar type error and it could contain a small human-readable explanation of the error. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [installation-issues] [Issue 45477] Uninstall does not remove files and Registry keys
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=45477 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun May 1 16:15:08 -0700 2005 --- I'd like to weight in on this one as well. There are a number of ways that paths to OOo binaries can get into the registry. The installer is just one of them. Users can right-click on a file, and say Open With ... and choose the path to an OOo binary. There are most likely others. The problem is that with the path changing with each version, a lot of stale references to uninstalled versions of OOo are left around the place. Clicking on a file will then result in a dialog saying something along the lines that the destination file doesn't exist. When I do an OOo upgrade, after I uninstall OOo, I open regedit, and manually search for all soffice, swriter, and scalc references and delete them. This is the only way to get a fully functioning system. So ... not only should the installer have the option of removing registry entries that a previous installer may have set, but also of removing *ALL* registry settings that have anything to do with OOo - whether the installer put them there or not. Without this, users must be adept at registry hacking to make OOo work properly, especially when clicking on documents from Windows Explorer. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 48523] New - Numbers entered in a table with a : separating them get formatted into PM/AM time
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=48523 Issue #:|48523 Summary:|Numbers entered in a table with a : separating them |get formatted into PM/AM time Component:|Word processor Version:|OOo 1.1.4 Platform:|PC URL:| OS/Version:|Linux Status:|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard:| Keywords:| Resolution:| Issue type:|DEFECT Priority:|P3 Subcomponent:|formatting Assigned to:|mru Reported by:|hiffy --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun May 1 16:51:56 -0700 2005 --- I make a table. 10 columns, two rows. In the 2nd column, 2nd row I enter 21:18, meaning for me 21 minutes and 18 seconds. I press tab to move to the next column [3,2]. OO.o writer replaces it with 09:18:00 PM. I fidget and press ctrl+z, which brings me back to 21:18 in [2,2]. Through a combination of pressing delete, clicking and getting pissed off I realise there isn't an obvious way of telling it to fuck off. I fidget around in the AutoCorrect thinger 'till I realise it has no option to change it. I look in the help files. There isn't a mention about it being able to automatically do that, let alone a way to turn it off. I experiment. Outside of the table field it doesn't assume I can't understand 24 hour notation. It still thinks I want to write 09:18:00 PM if I write 021:18 or 21 : 18. Furthermore, it assumes I wanted 51:00:00 when I actually typed 21:1800. Adding insult to injury, when I type 035:18 it assumes I wanted 11:18:00 AM instead, which exposes the thinking of the bonehead who wrote that function. I can't find a fucking way to turn it off, so here we are. I now realise that 21m18s works just as well but the point here is that I wanted to enter 21:18 iand OO.o won't let me/i! - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
