I'm already running the latest catalyst drivers on my home and work machines
(5.4). Tried the fix mentioned in that forums link and also tried turning
opengl on/off.

Still no joy. Consistently get BSOD when doing a small 4 slide show using the
troublesome transitions (wipes, etc.)

I installed 1.1.4 and the exact same transitions work smoothly, perfectly
without BSOD. I also run many of the videogames that the gentleman was having
problems with in that forums thread and have no issues with them at all.

The fact that 1.1.4 works great under the same exact conditions on the same
exact machines makes me feel this is an issue with 2.0 beta (m100) and not an
ati driver issue. I use tons of 3d stuff (games, 3d design using opengl, etc.)
and so far only openoffice 2.0 (m100) has caused this issue.

When opening with Write 1.9.100 documents generated with Write 1.1.x, the last
line of the paragraphs that ended in line breaks appeared justified and could
not be aligned to the left (the dialog shows that the last line is aligned to
the left, but in the document it appears justified).

This problem does not appear in documents that were originally generated with
Writer 1.9.100.

Hi!
We are a group of teachers in France in charge of instructing other teachers on
how to use computer presentation in class.
We are all in favor of Open Office, however we have to promote Powerpoint (sorry
:-) ) because of one feature which is absolutely essential to us and that
Impress does not offer.
Very often, we have to have the text inside an object appear and disappear
several times in order to have the students repeat.
We do that by creating a text zone. Then we select the text only (not the zone),
add an appear effect, and with start the animation by a click on we choose
the object text zone. We do the same thing with the animation disappear.
With Powerpoint (sorry again), we can make the text appear and disappear as
often as we want by clicking on the same object.
With Impress, it works just once.
It may be a bug of PPT, but it's indispensable for us. Is it possible for you to
 program that possibility?
It would allow us to promote Open Office to hundreds of teachers and through hem
to thousands of students.
Thanks.

Thanks for an answer.
P.S.
I would like to attach a one slide demo presentation, but I don't see any
attachment link on this page. If it comes after clicking on sublit, I will.

[graphics-issues] [Issue 49075] animation produced in 1.1.4 works improperly in 1.9

2005-05-14 Thread fbermejo

I can reproduce the bug. In my opinion, this is an important issue, because the
problems also happen if the animations are in a PPT file. I exported the
attachment startrail_eng.sxi to ppt format using OOo 1.1.4, and the resulting
file is shown very differently in PPoint and OOo 1.9.100. I include the ppt
attachment.
This issue seems related to issue 48167.
I think these animation problems could make people decide not to move from MS
Office to OOo.
Hope this helps.

solenv/bin/modules/installer/download.pm, line 600+:

+   elsif ( $language eq et ) { $nsislanguage = Estonian; }

This allows NSIS to use Estonian translations. Patch works, confirmed by Ain
Vagula.

I have heard that Ingo is on vacation this week. So I'll commit this myself.

I've created a text box and I have written *-1. I highlited the * character
and changed it to subscript with manual settings. The results are in attached
file. When I highlight * again and go the Possition tab the authomatic checbox
is disabled. It will become enabled when I change the setting to normal and back
to subscript.

You are right it is something more subtle. I will attached a file where I wanted
to write * to -1 factorial and set the subscripts/superscripts. When I highlight
-1 go to the Possition tab and change the setting to authomatic (to do this you
have to change form superscript to normal and back - to make the checbox
enabled, I've already reported this as another bug) visually the * will move
down (but it's setting do not change). You can easilly observe this using
undo/redo. I think that changing the settings for -1 should not effect *
possition. Maybe this is connected to the bug 49032?

I want to use some diagrams created in Draw in my latex documents. I highlight
the desired objects and export them to eps file. When I use my latex editor
(Kile) it's unable to check my diagrams resolutions (it doesn't add border box
dimensions). When I load the eps file into Gimp 2.0 and save it again the border
box can be determined.

I'm using Draw 1.9.98 (polish version) on Windows XP (polish version).

I open one of my saved documents from which I just exported something to eps. I
want to export something again. In the dialog that apears there are my old
values (file name and file type). The file name field should allows me to check
the list of all file names I've previously used. The list is empty since I have
done the exporting only once. But event though there are no values on the list
the list box is long (as if prepared for many items). This list is long even, if
I didn't do any exporting yet.

I'm using Draw 1.9.98 (polish version) on Windows XP (polish version).

[graphics-issues] [Issue 48167] ppt file shown wrongly in OO1.1.4 and OO1.9.95 -- but differently

fbermejo wrote about partially verifying the problems on XP (thanks):

I have no problems with the 'pi' simbol

Presumably because OO on XP uses windows fonts where available -- in this case
MS 'comic sans'?

I have just installed the Fedora Core 3 version of OO (adapted by
redhat from OO 1.1.3). To my surprise it handles the pi symbol better than
either 1.1.4 or 1.9.100.

I also found that in 1.1.3 if I select the 'pi' symbol and change the font size
from the original (48) the symbol grows or shrinks according to the font size
selected, whereas in 1.1.4 and in 1.9.100 the 'pi' symbol shrinks if I go to a
very small size but does not increase with each font size step, and seems to
reach a maximum displayed size at 32 in 1.9.100 and 26 in 1.1.4, although the
black 'highlighted' area around the character grows after that.

This suggests to me that RedHat have fixed a bug in the display of symbol fonts
in OO1.1.3, but their fix has not been included in more recent versions.

nor with the animation of slide 41.

It's actually quite subtle and easy to miss (I missed it when the owner of the
ppt file asked to see how OpenOffice would display it, but he saw it and drew it
to my attention).

If you start up slide 41, then on click 5 (i.e. the click immediately after the
horizontal red line appears), a vertical red line appears on left.

In OO 1.1.3(fedore core)it appears in the right place but a small light coloured
line spoils the box labelled 'gen'.
In OO 1.1.4 the vertical red line appears in the right place.
In OO 1.9.100 (on my linux machines) it appears with top part overlapping the
box labelled 'gen' and then quickly moves down.

In itself it is not significant: the presentation is not impeded and most people
seeing it will not notice. But it may be a symptom of a problem that could be
much worse in other presentations?

Sorry I don't know enough to do any debugging.

When I open a file saved on Windows Draw on Linux it displays correctly, but
Draw looses some toolbars, I have to switch them on manually and I'm not
entirerly sure if everything works. I will attach two files: my_file.odg (saved
on windows) and my_file2.odg (saved on linux). Both files work correctly on the
opperating system they were created. I've not tried to open the Linux file on
Windows.

I'm using Draw 1.9.98 (polish version) on Windows XP (polish version) and Fedora
Core 3.

In Calc, I select a database (say 4 rows, 4 columns). If I click the symbol for
sorting AZ it sorts using the first column as key. That's right. The Help on
line says that if I press TAB to select another cell (say in second column) it
should sort using that column as key, but it doesn't work.

I can confirm that problem with 1.1.4 (German) WIN XP: [645m52(Build8824)] and
with 2.0 (1.9.m79) English version WIN XP: [680m79(Build8876)]
You can reproduce that very simply:

1. Open new text document
2. make visible Drawing-Toolbar with 'Menu: View - Toolbar - Drawing'
3. Click Text
4. Mark some text field on the sheet and enter some Text like This is a
horizontal Text
5. Mouseclick on the sheet somewhere outside the text
6. Click on the textfile with rightclick
7. Click Context menu Position and Size, Card Rotation
9. Click Angle 90 / OK
10. Save document as OOo Document
11. Save Document as WORD2000 Document
12. Close
13. Open WORD2000 Document with OOo
Expected: looks normal with 90 turned text
Actual: as expected
14. Open WORD2000 Document with WORD2000
Expected: looks normal with 90 turned text
Actual: Text field is in correct position and size, but text in it is not
turned 90, but still horizonatal, and so, it is destroyed.

This is not really an OOo problem, but OOo has a feature which is not supported
by WORD. If you try to save the file as WORD- .doc!, there is a warning This
document might contain ... not supported by ..., and that is enough.

So I think this is not a defekt, but a feature-issue Convert turned text in
writer documents to bitmap when export to doc or something similar.

Changed summary for feature: might be helpful to convert drawing mode text
fields to image or something else when saving as WORD file to avoid problems
with non horizontal texts (see my comments Sat May 14 07:06:57 -0700 2005)

I can only see very low priority for that issue.

(Note: found in 1.9.100 but this choice is currently unavailable...)

I apologise for the issue title/summary, but English is not my first language
and, try as I might, I could not do better.

Copying sheets in a spreadsheet document wreak havoc with frozen cells. The
frozen cell settings seems to jump from sheet to sheet or just disappear.
Part I
1.With a new Calc document (Untitled1):
2.Select freeze some cells in sheet1 move selection to (eg) C3 and select
Window Freeze.
3.Select Sheet2 and copy it in front of Sheet1 using Edit Sheet Move/Copy...
dialog (no bug if you copy using drag'n'drop nor if you simply move the sheet).
4.Bug: the newly created sheet (Sheet2_2) now has the same frozen cells as
Sheet1.
5.Undo.
6.Redo. Incoherence: Sheet2_2 has now no frozen cells.

Part II
7.Undo (or restart with a fresh document: redo steps 1 and 2).
8.Create a new Calc document: Untitled2.
9.Copy Sheet1 from this Untitled2 in front of Sheet1 in Untitled1 either by
ctrl+drag'n'drop or by Edit Sheet Move/Copy... dialog.
10.No (visible) bug: Sheet1_2 in first document appears correctly (no frozen
cells) and Sheet1 is intact everything seems correct
11.Undo. Bug: cells are no longer frozen in Sheet1, they are now in Sheet2.

Part III
For clarity's sake, I'll restart from fresh files. Close all.
1.Create a new Calc document: Untitled1.
2.Select Sheet2 and freeze some cells (move selection away from A1 and select
Window Freeze).
3.Copy Sheet2 in front of Sheet1 either by ctrl+drag'n'drop or by Edit Sheet
Move/Copy... dialog.
4.Bug: no frozen cells in the newly created Sheet2_2
5.Undo. No visible bug.
6.Redo. Bug and incoherence: no more frozen cells in Sheet2 but now Sheet2_2 has
them.
7.Restart with a fresh document: redo steps 1 and 2.
8.Copy Sheet2 after Sheet3 (in end position) either by ctrl+drag'n'drop
or by
Edit Sheet Move/Copy... dialog.
9.No visible bug: frozen cells are correct in Sheet2 and in Sheet2_2.
10.Undo. No visible bug.
11.Redo. Bug: no more frozen cell in Sheet2. (Sheet2_2 is still correct.)

I had in mind to post such a RFE for a looong time. Pity this one was closed.
Could it be re-opened. I also think that colored non-printing character are much
clearer and less eye tiring. For the record, MSO had such a feature on MacOS.

Sincerely,

Hello!
What about to create InnoSetup based preinstaller intead of NSIS installer? I
had used NSIS the changed to InnoSetup. I think it's have better language
support, more compact format, better and easier configure options. If you need
it I can contribute some InnoSetup code based on NSIS code...

When document is saved current view is moved to cursor (so that he appears in
visible part of the document).

User normally wants to keep his view on the part of the document he watches, not
on the part of the document where the cursor is.

An MS Office document of mine, an abbreviated version of which can be found at

http://www.ambler.me.uk/letter.doc

does not import properly. All of the alignment is messed up. Sorry if this is
a duplicate, I tried to look but couldn't find one! Alignment should be
roughly:

Admissions office box CrestHall Address

Date

My address
   Conditional Offer
Dear...

Instead, OpenOffice.org puts the crest on top of the admissions box and puts
Date and My address roughly where the crest should be. I am using version
680-m100 whatever that means.

Concerns importing sxw created in 1.1.x to 1.9.100

This is somewhat special document that I created long time ago. I don't
remember why
exactly, but I've used something called index entry in all level 2 headings.
It had
something to do with having them to show up in table of context, or the
numbering. The
original doc was imported from another program and I couldn't get the numbering
or
something to work and this made it work as supposed and I was able to print it
etc.

Now when this document is opened in 1.1.4 everything is OK. But when opened in
1.9.100
a strange totally
unnecessary numbering list item 1. appears at the very beginning of the
document, i.e.
at the first page, at the beginnign of the very first line. With 1.1.4 it
doesn't appear and
everything seems to be supposed to.

The document in question is available at given URL.

The presentation plays with no sound.
The same presentation plays with sound in MS PowerPoint.
I tried with OpenOffice 1.9.79 and 1.9.100.

Doing a Format-Page-Footnote (tab) gives me options to change or remove the
footnote seprator line. Unfortunately, I use both endnotes and footnotes in my
documents. I generally don't want separator lines over my endnotes, since they
are at the end of my chapters, but I do want a separator line over the
footnotes. Is there any way to have different options for footnotes and
endnotes? Cuz, right now, when I whack the separator soas not to have them on
each endnote page, it kills my footnote separator line, too.

I have the same problem in m100 however I didn't have the problem in m95.

I set the numbering slightly differently:
- create some paragraphs with Heading styles (visible in navigator)
- via the Bullets and Numbering dialog box (from right click menu on one of
the headings) select an outline style and apply it
- All of the headings are no longer visible in Navigator

This issue still exists as of OOo 1.9.79 (viz. 2.0 Beta).

Steps to reproduce:
 1. Type in a URL, for instance http://google.com/
 2. Hit space or enter.
 3. Highlight the URL.
 4. Open the hyperlink dialogue.
 5. Note lack of clear button or the like.

Additionally, the strategy of resetting to default no longer can be easily found
in the documentation. Search for hyperlink.

ok. I eat my words. It doesn't work in m95, at least it doesn't anymore. :( I
could've sworn it worked yesterday.

However, despite the seeming problem, there is one way to apply numbering and
bullets without the headings disappearing from the navigator. By using the
Numbering on/off and Bullets on/off it seems to work.
