Hi,

I made some macro's to assign function keys (F1, F2...) for a specific file. In
version 1.1.3 they worked fine. In the new version they don't work at all. I
will attach a sample file. When you open it, it wil try to save itself in a
subdirectory (but you can close this window). For your idear it is a
psychological test. Cliënts can fill in the form (using the function keys) en
then (by changing maps) see the results. It in Dutch dow.

Hi,

ready mileastones are announced via mails to cws-announce. Can we also make RSS
feed for them and integrate it into OOoPlanet?

I do that manually right now, see e.g.
http://blog.janik.cz/archives/2005-09-06T23_11_45.html

but it would be nice if it is automated.

I already did the similar thing for issues in IssueZilla.

I repeat, speed is not a problem (at least not the main problem, if it worked at
least slowly it was fine. Also, I *can't* reproduce this on any *Windows*
version. But on Linux (I tested Ubuntu 5.10 and 5.04 and have reports that this
also affects Debain Sid) the attached .svm graphic crashes the app (any OOo
app), to the point where the official build shows the crash reporting tool.
Removing just this one graphic, the whole ppt (attachment 1) is usable.
And again: does the loading code for svm graphics depend on any system libraries
or is it fully implemented in the OOo source base?

Shall I submit a seperate bug for the Outline-numbering bug? According to the
second comment it seems that this bug is only considered to be about the
numbering not displaying.

However it is also about the use of Extras Outline Numbering setting all
Heading-styles to use instead of None as numbering style, making them
useless. This is far worse than the displaying problem!

ssa-ericb: far too complicated, i have a much simpler solution now :) in fact
it was in front of our eyes all the time...

The root cause of the problem is that X11 does not load the XKEYBOARD extension
per default. So all we have to do is to start X11 with a proper commandline
parameter, i.e. +kb
To achieve this without exchanging X11.app completely, as suggested earlier, you
just have to start X11 by providing the full path to the real binary:

/Application/Utilities/X11.app/Contents/MacOS/X11 +kb

I changed the launch script accordingly and will attach it to issue 42998.

BTW: have you tried out my patch that makes the Apple key (aka Meta key)
available ?

In order to fix issue 49752 I modified the launch script in the following way:
- start X11 with the keyboard extension
- wait until the window manager is started before proceeding to launch OOo, this
avoids the sleep call that is not very accurate and may wrong on slow machines

This all happens only for Apples X11 and not for XDarwin, which I do not have
installed and thus could not test it. Not sure if anybody is really using it...

Hi,

many source files contain:

Text [ x-comment ] =  ;

This is empty comment. There are *zillions* lines like this. Can we remove them
and save a lot of space? Or do they have any purpose?

2005 ---
This is still not fixed in Beta2 Linux.

How to reproduce:

1. Open Calc.

2. But a letter in F 20, K 40 and O 49.

3. Select View Page break. You will see that the sheet is split in three
pages.

4. Open Format Page Sheet. Look at the scaling factor, it is set to 100%.

First conclusion: When A1 to G49 is set as one page, this fits on a page at a
scaling-factor of 100%.

5. In page-preview, use the mouse to move the right border of page one to the
right, so that instead of three pages, you get one page, including columns A
to O.

6. Have a look at Format Page Sheet. The scaling factor was set
_automatically_ to 49%. Normally the user would not look at Format Page
Sheet everytime the page-breaks are changed. This is because the user sets the
page-breaks and not the scaling-factor. The user just wants the range to be
fitted on the page, as big as possible, as small as needed.

7. Use the mouse to change the right border back to column G. So that there is
one page from A1 to G49.

8. Remember 4. According to 4. the range A1 to G49 fits on one page at a
scaling-factor of 100%. OO changed the scaling-factor automatically to fit the
bigger range on the page, so now, when the range is made smaller, it should
also revert that change automatically to 100%. To the user there is no
difference between the two ranges set in 4. and 8, yet printing will give
different output.

9. Have a look at Format Page Sheet. The scaling-factor is still 49%.

Result: Although the selected range would fit on the page at a scaling factor
of 100%, it is scaled to 49% because OO does not re-calculate the
scaling-factor in cases where it should be increased.

To me it seems that OO just calculates, whether the selected area fits on a
page, if so it does not change the scaling factor. If not it does change it.

Expected behaviour would be to check whether the range fits on a page, if not,
change the scaling-factor. Yet, if it does fit on a page and the scaling
factor is not 100%, re-calculate whether it can be increased to 100% or
whatever is possible in order for the selected range to just fit on the page.
As big as possible, as small as needed to fit the page-breaks.

Yes, that sounds exactly like what happens with a very large avi. It sounds
like that there is a limit to the total number of avi's based on the total file
size, but that is just a guess.

Actually, this isn't a bug, just different opinions and different understanding
of native language (strange how this happens).
Rodinys will remain in OOo1.1.5, but will be changed to Rodymas starting
OOo2.0.
BTW, rodinys is NOT a new artificial word ;)

Maybe it is me being to stupid but using your main.scpt with Mac OS X 10.3.9 X11
and OOo M126 (my own build) the script only launches X11 but not OpenOffice.org
itsself.

In addition the script isn't executable after download. It opens in the script
Editor, complains that the path to script editor is wrong and I have to push the
RUN button in Script Editor in ordert to launch the script.

Where's my fault?

When I insert any special character from OpenSymbol font the line spacing is
increased about 50%. Other special characters from other fonts are more or less
good. It is undesirable for me because OpenSymbol font is very nice and contains
many useful characters which I need to use.

In WinXP this problem seems to be OK. I don't understand where the problem goes
on . My OS is Mandriva Linux LE 2005.

Many thanks.

For Windows XP you find at Control Panel - Mouse - Wheel the corresponding
operating system setting for the scrolling via mouse wheel.

The setting states something like: Scroll x lines...

It does not state: Scroll x pages...

So it is plain wrong to take a setting meant for lines and use it for
scrolling pages. Otherwise e.g. Acrobat Reader would also scroll a few pages
each time one uses the mousewheel, in case two pages are arranged next to each
other.

My specs are as follows:
- OO 2.0 Beta
- Dell Dimension XPS PC
- Windows XP Professional SP2
- Pentium 4 3.8 GHz Processor
- 2.0 GB DDR RAM

Based on the attached screenshot of the error it appears many tasks could be
potentially running in the background, based on several icons showing in the
system tray. Low system resource availability could be the reason.

I attempted to replicate by running multiple programs/processes simultaneously
and loading a large odp file, but still didn't experience a 'broken' view.

One of the example lines is
connectivity/source/drivers/mozab/bootstrap/MNSProfile.cxx:399 which
contains:
if (shutDownType == SHUTDOWN_PERSIST || shutDownType == SHUTDOWN_CLEANSE) {
where SHUTDOWN_PERSIST and SHUTDOWN_CLEANSE are elements of an unnamed enum type

If this code is compiled unchanged, gcc reports:
error: 'nsIProfile::anonymous enum' is/uses anonymous type
error: trying to instantiate 'templateclass C sal_Bool
com::sun::star::uno::operator==(const
com::sun::star::uno::Any, const C)'

However, if you change it to:
if (shutDownType == (PRUint32)SHUTDOWN_PERSIST || shutDownType == (PRUint32)
SHUTDOWN_CLEANSE) {
everything works fine.

I don't know if this is a bug in Apple's gcc4 or in the OOo codebase but I'll
provide a patch here anyway.
(The problem occurs also in different places).

No error here.

Even when your browser/editor displays another symbol  when saving with
charset as UTF-8, this is still the same unicode character U+F0CC (decimal
#61644, UTF-8 0xEF 0x83 0x8C) that is stored in the file.

It just happens that your browser uses a font that has this character at this
position. That's why it is not possible for OOo to save the correct character.

At least two fonts on your system have different characters at that position. It
is impossible to tell which one is the right one. (Even if this was possible,
it is still not possible to know what character it is)

I cannot tell whether you get the same character as I do. Here it displays as
the double-harpoon arrow ⇋, but I have other fonts where that codepoint is a
north-east arrow ↗ but none that would be the character you want (but many
without any character at that point)

The other part that regina mentioned is not a bug either.
The text uses the style preformatted text, this is reflected in the HTML using
the pre /pre tags.
If you think that this is not enough, please file a seperate issue as enhacement
request.

If the font-properties are not applied even when you choose a font explicitly,
then please file a seperate bug
One problem → one issue and no mutating issues please.

Since OOo doesn't save the wrong symbol and doesn't use wrong character
encodings, I close this one as invalid.

Solution: Don't use characters from the private use area of the font, but use
the standard codepoints instead. (for subset of this is U+2282 ⊂ (decimal
#8834) as regina already mentioned)

No bug, not fixable either thus closing.

[graphics-issues] [Issue 49674] Impress Crashes when I tr y to view the attached document

My specs are as follows:
- OO 2.0 Beta
- Dell Dimension XPS PC
- Windows XP Professional SP2
- Pentium 4 3.8 GHz Processor
- 2.0 GB DDR RAM

I imported the attached file into Impress but was unable to replicate this
bug. The slide transitions took 1-2 seconds and there was no delay. I then
opened the ppt file attached in MS PowerPoint, resaved and reopened in
Impress. Again, once I hit the “Slide Show” button Impress did not crash.

Considering many people need to open and run ppt files in Impress, I would
think this would be an important issue to resolve. Perhaps certain features
in Impress require too much overhead, just a gander.

My specs are as follows:
- OO 2.0 Beta
- Dell Dimension XPS PC
- Windows XP Professional SP2
- Pentium 4 3.8 GHz Processor
- 2.0 GB DDR RAM

I opened up the attached odb file and double-clicked to OLE Object, which in
turn accessed my Acrobat Reader (Version 7.0.1) and attempted to open the
associated pdf. That is where my attempted replication failed due to not
having the exact pdf in question (it is possible the pdf they used was
corrupt). However, I was able to create a NEW odb file and successfully
embedded a pdf OLE Object without hanging. I repeated this same test in an
EXISTING odb file much larger in size and still no issues. The pdf opened
right up.

I would place high importance on this issue considering Adobe pdf's are very
pervasive. It is expected that most consumer software applications these days
have the ability to deal with pdf documents.

Hi,

the file svx/source/dialog/optgdlg.src contains two language_user1 lines and the
file svx/source/options/optctl.src contains 244 old translations in the source,
e.g.:

svx/source/options/optctl.src:  Text[ cz ] = Komplexní rozvržení textu;
svx/source/options/optctl.src:  Text[ ru ] = Complex Text Layout;

not speaking about cz code. Only cs is correct!

Please remove them from the source code. They are the cause of unnecessary
problems.

- Windows XP Professional SP2
- Pentium 4 3.8 GHz Processor
- 2.0 GB DDR RAM

I was able to replicate the behavior based on the steps listed. The Add-on
toolbar did in fact appear on top of the presentation slideshow, which to me
seemed like normal default behavior. At this stage the add-on toolbar is in a
waiting state, waiting to be docked in the user's preferred location.

I would place a low level of importance on this issue.

thing-cj: OOo is now LGPL only. In issue 23755 it is stated that acceptance of
GPL license agreement is not required for each individual user.

Furthermore, contrary to what is stated in issue 23755 Mozilla products doesn't
require that each individual user accepts the license agreement. I suggest OOo
developers follows Mozilla's lead and lowers the barriers for mass deployments.

Reopening issue because of license change.

Hi,

while looking for other issue, I found this minor issue:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/.ooo/ooo_SRC680_m128_src/basic/source/app grep USER
basic.src
Text[ LANGUAGE_USER1 ] = Gemeint sind Objekte aus der
Objektorientierten Programmierung;
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/.ooo/ooo_SRC680_m128_src/basic/source/app

this looks like the only usage of LANGUAGE_USER1 in the source. Is it the
comment? Can you remove it or make it x-comment?

My specs are as follows:
- OO 2.0 Beta
- Dell Dimension XPS PC
- Windows XP Professional SP2
- Pentium 4 3.8 GHz Processor
- 2.0 GB DDR RAM

I was able to replicate the issue by clicking around in Impress and viewing
the confusing terms. Based on the example given, I'm not sure I agree with
the terms being confusing. A background template can be considered an element
of the overall slide design.

I then went over to PowerPoint and viewed the terminology over there, which
isn't much different.

I would place a low level of importance on this issue.

I agree that this should be added. The ASW may be a bit tricky depending on
the dictionaries available.

There are other reading indices available, perhaps one of them would be easier
to implement quickly

Hi,

binfilter contains *many* old translation lines, e.g.:

binfilter/bf_forms/source/resource/forms_strings.src: Text[ it ] = Inserisci
immagine;

We even generate bf_*.res resource files. But English GSI file doesn't contain
any line from binfilter module - community translations do not have the change
to change their resources there. Only Sun languages are merged.

Why?

We do not need res from bf_* at all? Or we do not need translations in the
source at all?

BTW: I propose to remove the whole binfilter module for next OOo 2.0.x.

My specs are as follows:
- OO 2.0 Beta
- Dell Dimension XPS PC
- Windows XP Professional SP2
- Pentium 4 3.8 GHz Processor
- 2.0 GB DDR RAM

Unfortunately I don't have any large AVI files to play. I did however run a
couple smaller ones and experienced abnormal behavior where the first would
start playing, then disappear, but I could still hear the sound while the
second one played.

The steps I followed:
- Create a new Impress presentation
- Load more than one AVI movie
- Start the slideshow from a blank slide
- Navigate to the slide containing multiple movies

Many users these days run embedded multimedia files from various applications,
all the time. I would consider this an important issue.

Here are the steps to make the right-to-left paragraph option visible in
OpenOffice 1.9.79.2 (actually, I think that the fact that these steps are
necessary at all is a bug on its own accord).

1. open Tools|Options
2. go to Language Settings|Languages
3. in Default languages for documents, there is a combo box labeled CTL.
Select Hebrew.
4. close the Options dialog
5. Now locate the Formatting toolbar.
6. Click the small triangle at the bottom-right corner of the toolbar - the
Right-to-Left and Left-to-Right buttons can be selected.

ssa-maveric: First you should download the OpenOffice.org.zip attachment
provided in this issue. Unpack it in a temporary folder and overwrite the
existing main.scpt with my recent attachment by copying it into:
tmpfolder/OpenOffice.org.app/Contents/Resources/Scripts/main.scpt

Now copy the OpenOffice.org.app from your temporary folder into
/Application/openoffice.org1.9.126 so that it appears on the same level as the
program, share, etc. folders of OOo.

Doubleclicking the new icon should launch X11 and OOo.

My specs are as follows:
- OO 2.0 Beta
- Dell Dimension XPS PC
- Windows XP Professional SP2
- Pentium 4 3.8 GHz Processor
- 2.0 GB DDR RAM

After importing the pps attached I was able to replicate the reported
behavior. If you run it in MS PowerPoint, then run the same presentation in
Impress, you will see the difference. The overall presentation is much
choppier in Impress, where in PowerPoint it's more seemless. Basically, the
effects in Impress have a noticable delay.

I would consider this issue rather important considering the high interest in
applying textual effects coupled with sound. I would recommend viewing the
slideshow with sound effects removed to verify that is the issue.

Hope this helps.

My specs are as follows:

- Windows XP Professional SP2
- Pentium 4 3.8 GHz Processor
- 2.0 GB DDR RAM

I was able to replicate, then compared the results to MS PowerPoint like the
reporter did. In my case, the results were somewhat different. The bullet
type did change, but not to a different type each time like PowerPoint. The
same type was reused every other level. Regarding the font size, it decreased
only up to the fourth level. After that the size remained static, and so did
the bullet type.

Specifically, what font was used when this report was filed? This would be
important because each font type displays differently.

Considering font displays are critical to almost any text based application, I
would rank this issue with a high level of importance.

My specs are as follows:
- OO 2.0 Beta
- Dell Dimension XPS PC
- Windows XP Professional SP2
- Pentium 4 3.8 GHz Processor
- 2.0 GB DDR RAM

I was not able to replicate. Once I got the Custom Animation dialogue, I
could not find dim with colour effect. Need more information.

Once identifying where the appear - dim effect was located, I would try
different colors and see if they are applied immediately without delay. I
would also play around with other effects on various colors and check those
results. Also, I would see how MS PowerPoint handles this effect and compare
against Impress.

Considering effects are popular I would place a significant level of
importance on this one.

As already mentioned in #i54452 some changes are also needed in module psprint
to make it compile
with gcc4/MacOSX.
Here it's again some casts and one change removing a const. I hope this last
change doesn't compromise
anything.

(Justin Kelley 9/11/2005)

My specs are as follows:
- OO 2.0 Beta
- Dell Dimension XPS PC
- Windows XP Professional SP2
- Pentium 4 3.8 GHz Processor
- 2.0 GB DDR RAM

Followed the steps mentioned but was unable to replicate. Not all items in
the Apply To Selected Slides were selected after executing step 3.

Steps followed:
1. Imported attached file into Impress
2. Opened the Slide Transition pane
3. Selected a sound item from the Sound drop-down
4. Selected On Mouse Click the first time, Automatically After a second
time
5. Then selected an item in the Apply to Selected Slides

However, not all items became selected in my particular case.

For follow up testing I recommend selecting every combination of options
available in the slide transition pane.

Considering many users enjoy impelementing slide transition effects I would
place a high level of importance on this issue.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

several source files contain $Log$. I think it is useless because we do have all
commit comments in CVS. Can we remove them? Comments are redundant, make source
code grow.

With gcc3 and MacOSX you need to link against libsupc++ in module store. This
lib, however, is not
present with gcc4/MacOSX and therefore linking against it is not possible and
not needed.

Hi,

you changed the line wrapping in LICENSE file. The original file had several
long lines (so the text is wrapped in the UI according to the width of the
window) and the new file wraps text at 75.

It could look weird in high resolutions.

The problem is different.

The function
svtools/source/misc/imagemgr.cxxSvFileInformationManager::GetDescription_Impl
has a bad logic to decide the file name.

In German, if you want to describe the type of the RTF file, you'll say
RTF-Datei. The string Datei is STR_DESCRIPTION_FILE. So the developer have
decided, that this is the good idea in general.

It is not good idea. In Czech, you have to say Soubor RTF where Soubor is
File in Czech.

Please change the logic.

Changing the component to framework.

1) Open a new document in Writer or Calc.
2) Select 10.5 points for font size from the toolbar combo box (drop down)
3) The combo box UI displays 10 which is incorrect.

Same thing also happens when typing in a font size (for example type 8.25).
It may only be a UI issue, if you then look at the font size in the
Format|Character| Font tab, the font size diplays more precisely (rounds to the
nearest tenth).

Hi guys,
I am working with OOo 1.1.4 including the security patch. I have a spreadsheet
with several tabs, each has only a small size of less than 100 lines and 10
coloums.

Issue:
As the display of BOLD-text in the cells is not so good, I wanted to do a
preview of the selected tab.
But I get always a preview of the first table, not one of the table I am
working on.

Going forwards to the next pages seem to work only on the first table.
So it seem to be impossible to do a preview of the other tables.
kind regards
Gerhard
