It would make sense to support dots as this is a common way of naming objects.

Installing the german openoffice.org 2.0.1 build from 2005-12-15 on a SuSE 10.0
linux system (PC) with the text-mode of yast, yast freezes after some minutes of
installation. After killing yast, only parts of the program files are installed,
for instance the executables (.bin-files) are not found.
This is reproducible using downloads from different mirrors.
2.0.0 reinstallation succeeds in the same way on the same system.

Hi azaz09,

thank you for this excellent bug report. I can confirm the issue but
unfortunately the macro recorder has no priority at this time. If it were a
regression there would be a chance that this could be fixed within a reasonable
timeframe, but it is not. This never worked (checked back to StarOffice 5.1a).

So i set this issue to Office later, make it a duplicate to issue #20046 and
close it.

I'm not sure that this issue is duplicate of 25072. In current OOo version
headings can be XREF-fed via Navigator (+ D'n'D), while numbered lists cannot.

There is *NO* easy workaround of this issue. Manual making simple XREFs to
numbered list is painful.

Also, current XREF implementation has very limited formatting capabilities.

Steps to replicate:

1) Start writer.
2) Input some words. Save new version with "File"->"Versions.". And repeat some
times, you can get some versions.
3) Open "File"->"Versions." dialog, and delete selected version by "Delete"
button. You can find, when deleted last version, you will get all versions in
"Existing versions". So you can not delete all versions. And the title of dialog
is not good, the title will be "Versions of filename filename filename ...".

Attachment file is my test file, there are three versions in the file.

OpenOffice.org cannot export images as links to PowerPoint format. Instead, the
images become embedded. Consequently, the files of presentations with many
images can become very large resulting in performance problems.

[sc-issues] [Issue 59863] New - better keyboard cut paste navigation

 Priority:|P3
 Subcomponent:|editing
  Assigned to:|spreadsheet
  Reported by:|brucehohl

--- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Dec 28 18:17:45 -0800
2005 ---
Note this is a keyboard editing enhancement/feature request. Here's how I
cut and paste in a spreadsheet using only the keyboard:

1 - I select a range of cells by holding down the shift key and using the
arrow keys to highlight or specify the range.
2 - I press Control+X to cut.
3 - I move to the desired insertion point. **Please see below**
4 - I then press Control+V.

With regards to step 3:
- In OpenOffice.org and KSpread the starting point for moving from a
selected range is the **end** of the selected cut range.
- In Gnumeric and Excel the starting point from moving from a selected
range is the **beginning** of the selected cut range.

I find that in most cases my insertion point for a cut range is closer to the
*beginning* of the cut range than the *end* of the cut range, therefore, the
default navigation offered by Gnumeric and Excel is more efficient for me. This
is especially true when the cut range is large or very large.

Request: Include an option for this behavior or change the behavior to
be the same as used by Gnumeric and Excel.

I tried a few more settings and the result is, that when using postscript
fonts within the documents, the created PDF files can't be opened by any PDF
reader.
The fonts are usual fonts bought from Adobe and other PS font creators (e.g.
Agfa Rotis Sans Serif, Helvetica Condensed, TradeGothic, ...).
Perhaps its inportant to mention that this happens with the German version of
OOo 2.0.1. I didn't check other language versions, but I believe its not
language dependant.

Background:

Date fields (not fixed date fields) currently update to the current date as soon
as you open the document. In my experience, these fields are typically used to
record the date of the document, meaning the date it was last updated, and are
used so the author doesn't have to remember to manually change the date.

Issues:

-1- you can't open a document to find out when it was last edited (and, if it is
the version you want) because the date changes as soon as you open it, and

-2- if you open the document to print it, the printout has the date the doc was
printed instead of the date it was written.

Possible solutions:

-1- do not update date field values until the "dirty" flag is set indicating the
document has been modified, i.e. change the date value when you ungrey the Save
button.

-2- push the date value change onto the undo stack so that if you undo your
changes back to the point where the save button is grey again, the date is
restored.

-3- if enough people like the current behaviour, a new field type can be added
with the proposed behavior, perhaps called "date modified". personally, I think
the change should be made directly to the date field.

The Open Office 1.1.4 is an Open Office coming from the repository of
Mandrake. It is not the Open Office from the Open Office website.

The PC used in the procedure, is a PC with Mandrake 10.2, all updates from
mandrake installed.

Although the PC might not be standard with regards to desktop settings, icons,

colors, etc, it is, with regards to OO, a standard Mandrake 10.2 PC, noting
that the OO 1.1.4 comes from Mandrake and not from the OO website. I have done

nothing specific to install OO 1.1.4; it is already installed when installing
Mandrake 10.2, using the 3 Mandrake 10.2 CD's, community edition. It is
automaticly updated to OO 1.1.4 when updating Mandrake.

A mirror website containing those 3 CD's:
ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/Mandrake/official/iso/10.2/i586

A mirror containing the current 10.2 updates can be found here:
ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/Mandrake/official/updates/10.2/RPMS

You will find the OpenOffice.org-1.1.4-7.1.102mdk.i586.rpm's in de
updates-repository.

user cloph notes that
>> /usr/lib/openoffice/ is not one of the standard-paths OOo uses.
although this might be quite right from the perspective of OO, Mandrake does
never install OO in /opt/OpenOffice.x.y.x, as far as I know.

[graphics-issues] [Issue 59859] text toolbar not visible when editing text

fixed again,

found the real problem, this is clearly a regression to cws impressfunctions.

In DrawViewShell::FuPermanent() there once was this code

pFuActual = new FuText(this, GetActiveWindow(), pDrView, GetDoc(),
rReq);
( (FuText*) pFuActual)->DoExecute();

that was replaced in impressfunctions with

SetCurrentFunction( FuText::Create(this, GetActiveWindow(), pDrView,
GetDoc(),
rReq) );

This was done because I moved all implementations from the c'tor to the general
FoPoor::DoExecute() derivations. FuText was the only FuPoor derivate that
already used that schema. And in the new version the current function was not
set at the draw view shell while FuText::DoExecute was called. This caused
DrawViewShell::SelectionHasChanged() to behave different in this code statement

if( HasCurrentFunction() )
{
GetCurrentFunction()->SelectionHasChanged();
}
else
{
GetObjectBarManager().SelectionHasChanged (pDrView);
}

So instead of calling FuText::SelectionHasChanged(),
GetObjectBarManager().SelectionHasChanged() was called which caused the
activation of the drawing object toolbar.

I fixed this be moving the DoExecute call from FuText::Create() to
DrawViewShell::FuPermanent()

Using MySQL driver JDBC: mysql-connector-java-3.1.12-bin.jar.

Connection setup works just fine. The data source works as expected.

The database, tasks and tables show up on screen as expected.

But it is impossible to insert into and INTEGER column and then view or edit the
row. MySQL console allows all normal operations to insert, edit the rows,
columns in the table.

Any attempt to edit or view the table results in the following error:

Unknown type '246 in column 7 of 14 in binary-encoded result set.

How to fix??

Thanks,

Ken Wagner

fixed,

problem was that in FuText::DoExecute() we called

pViewShell->GetObjectBarManager().SwitchObjectBar (RID_DRAW_TEXT_TOOLBOX);

at the start of the method, a later call to

pView->MarkObj(aVEvt.pRootObj, pPV);

changed the current selection wich caused another SwitchObjectBar call for the
shape toolbar.

I moved the SwitchObjectBar(RID_DRAW_TEXT_TOOLBOX); call further down in the
method

I would like to see both the opening splash screen and the Help About screen
prominently show the full version number and the build.

When I installed OpenOffice.org the package name was openoffice.org2, the
splash
screen showed "OpenOffice.org 2.0", and Help About showed "OpenOffice.org 2.0".
Only in the very small print on the very last line of the about screen was I
able to tell that I was actually running version 1.9.something.

In other words, I was being mislead about which version of OpenOffice.org was
actually installed and running. This is not acceptable.

I don't have permission to change the priority of bugs :(

As a workaround, you can write a macro to change the language of a document to
English ( USA ) on opening each document. It's pretty dodgy, but at least you
can spell check documents.

These RPMs were built by Sun, and have been QA tested and approved by the
nl.openoffice.org, which among other things means that they were observed to
install without problem on a linux system.
So there must be something different with your system. The fact that the error
message occurred at the moment of migrating the OOo 1.1.4 settings suggest it
has something to do with that previous installation. Had OOo 1.1.4 been
installed separately or as part of the Mandrake installation?

I opened a .doc file in OO Writer, and I've got these odd horizontal lines
showing up roughly every page-and-a-little. They appear to be a sort of page
break, but I can't get rid of them. I can't select them, and placing the cursor
right after them and hitting 'backspace' just moves them back a line.

Line widths of cells with borders are non-uniform when exported to PDF. This
does not happen in Openoffice 1.1.5 and previous versions. This problem started

The animation I like most is "verschijnen" (that is how it is called in
Dutch). The text will simply appear when pressing the space, line by line.
Pressing space for each line.

This animation does not work as one should expect (based on MS-PowerPoint
user-experience).
Thirst, one makes a sheet with a couple of lines. Each line should appear
separately.

The default animation is, however, not for each line but for the whole object.
Using the mouse and a couple of clicks, all lines can have their own
animation. However, the whole object / frame still has it's own animation. I'm
not sure whether or not it makes sense to have an animation on the whole
object / frame in case the object / frame contains only a couple of lines.
If I'm correct, this "problem" is also described in
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=56883

With a couple of clicks (already to much clicks compared to MS
PowerPoint..) one can remove the animation from the whole object / frame.
The result is good; that is, the lines appear each after each other. I have to
press space while presenting. Everything is OK.

However, it is kind of strange that line 2, 3, and 4 are somehow represented
as a child of line 1. Again, I am not sure if this make any sense.
This is not described in issue 56883.

The desired behaviour could also accomplished by letting the frame / whole
object appear with the 'previous', and having the lines of text appear with a
'click'.

Two different approached, both needs several clicks before accomplished, both
are two complicated for the desired animation.

The real problem starts when adding lines of text.

When entering a new line of text within the object, this line does not get the
same animation as the other lines. It should.
When entering a new line of text within the object in between the current
lines, the order of animation get messed up. For instance, entering a line
between 2 and 3, line 4 becomes line 5 ==> line 5 does not have an animation
any more, but appears directly when presenting.

I have to conclude that this animation is to complicated. More important, it
is not possible to add new lines when the current lines already have an
animation, without messing up the animation.
After adding a line of text, I have to completely remove all animations on the
object and re-applying them (with lots of mouse-clicks).

> As I mentioned: with the package that I sent GNOME is partially supported
> i.e. menu entries are visible but icons may not be displayed.

No - with your package there won't be menu entries in recent versions of gnome
since it doesn't update the desktop-database. And you won't have integration in
the filemanager (mimetypes, what app can handle writer files, etc) - but that's
not critical for me since you wrote that Gnome is not officially supported.

> In step 6 and 8 I do NOT modify desktop files themselves.

Yes. I meant the symlinks. There are no desktop files in the menu-packages, only
links. The desktop-files themselves reside in the individual
application-packages.

>>regarding point 2) it is not enough to only place the files in the
>>directories,
>>you have to update the cache for the mime and menu files.
>Apparently KDE is doing it itself as new entries in KDE menu were visible right
>after package installation (no need to updated anything manually or to re-login
>into KDE)

No - it doesn't. You're providing the files in the legacy location/in legacy
format, so KDE doesn't use the freedesktop-ones but the "old" ones, but again
this is not critical.

> for the steps 6-8 everything can be solved with one bash script where a
> variable defining installation path can be declared. So from one release to

Not sure whether I got this right. You want to include a script in the package
that the admin has to lauch after modifying it?
Well - I still like the idea of simply changing one single link much better than
to use a script that modifies multiple locations.

> So makepkg is not necessary.

Great.

I didn't do the build, so I don't know what exactly happened here. But I found
some build comments from obo and kz which indicated a serious tooling
malfunction last Friday, followed by a missing update of the workspace. They are
both in vacation now, so I can't ask them. I've retagged the four mentioned
files in binfilter for SRC680 m147, that should fix the problem. I'll have a
good look at binfilter with SRC680 m148.

Its purpose is to provide a wider range of characters (see Current status page
for more information) while maintaining the original look and feel through the
process of collaborative development (see Authors). The family is available as
TrueType fonts and also as third-party packages for various operating systems
including handhelds (Download).

So it based on Bitstream Vera Fonts (look&feel) but provide a wider range of
characters... For example the original font does not contain Hungarian őű and
there are problems with cs&sk languages too...

I have created patches to integrate into build system!
Let's talk about!

Sorry, I missed the question about the source of the RPM's I use.

I start with:
http://nl.openoffice.org/downloaden.html

Choose the first downloadlink:
http://ftp.snt.utwente.nl/pub/software/openoffice/localized/nl/2.0.1/OOo_2.0.1_LinuxIntel_install_nl.tar.gz

The file OOo_2.0.1_LinuxIntel_install_nl.tar.gz contains RPM's. These are the
RPM's I installed.

It might have been a wrong assumption by me, but I thought that these RPM's
are build by Open Office, and not by Mandrake.
As far as I know, Mandrake / Mandriva does not have OO 2.01-mdk-rpm's, nor in
their official-2006.0 repository, nor in their devel/cooker-repository.

0.564u 0.066s 3:04.61 0.3% 0+0k 0+0io 737pf+0w

As with issue #59724# it's very unlikely that the perl interface is guilty here,
so the issue title might be misleading.

Hi,

every Mac OS X system have Python installed, so it makes sense to use system
Python by default on Mac OS X so people do not have to specify it manually every
time.

For reference on other Python related changes, see

1. Open Writer 2.0.1-RC5 Italian
2. File -> Procedure Guidate -> Agenda (Wizards -> Agenda)
3. In the second screen, "Location" is incorrectly translated as "Posizione".

While the word is not wrong in itself, it should be better to replace
"Posizione" by "Luogo", that is more proper and more consistent with the rest of
the UI.

After doing a fresh install of OOo 2.0.1 in CentOS 4.2, OOo (any component)
takes about 2 minutes to load. After I define a Java runtime, it loads in
seconds. The dialog to define the Java runtime is extremely slow as well. My PC
is a Compaq Evo D500 desktop, 512MB SDRAM, 1.6 GHz clock speed and a Maxtor
160GB harddrive; OS is CentOS 4.2 (Red Hat Enterprise Linux rebuild). If I
delete my personal OOo settings directory, and do a fresh install of OOo 2.0.0,
the problem does not exist. V2.0.1 performs fine after a JRE is defined.

Just because so far an issue is only publicly confirmed on one system does not
imply it only affects the one system. Issue 57530 deals with non-anti-aliased
"aliased" fonts on X11 systems. In fact, I use Fedora Core 4 and have the same
problem with antialiasing.

Sharp words can cut both ways. Shift + Refresh and check again. It's there.

Just discovered, after all those years, that OO 1.1.x has the same problem.

So, because I was able to use OO for all those years without being bugged form
this issue, P5 might even be to high.

However, these kind of errors tends to be security-errors. It looks like there
are "unchecked vars" with regard to the content of the var, in the openfile
dialog. Maybe it is possible to crash OO with a special crafted filename, date
and size, and run all kind of unpriveliged code

[installation-issues] [Issue 59803] WebWizard folder is missi ng in dutch OO 2.01 rpm's

It is indeed not a writer problem; calc and impress suffer from the same
problem.

To me the solution seems obvious:
- include the Webwizard folder in the rpm's.
- fix the rpm's with regard to the target folder location. Or do a ln.

Please, follow with the included example test2.odb

1) Create a new db (internal db engine)
2) Create two tables (book, writer) as in the included example test2.odb
3) Create the 1:n relation: writerId -> bookWriter
4) Create a form and its subform with the wizard (fWriter)
The connected fields are writer.writerId (master), book.bookWriter (slave)
5) Enter a new book record in the subform for the record writerId=1 (Giovanni
Pascoli)

The foreign key "book.bookWriter" does not default to writer.writerId=1,
it defaults to 0. So the subform creates a new record that is not connected
with the record displayed in the form.

In MSAccess the foreign key defaults to the connected value from the form.
I humbly think this would be the right choice.

Or, did I lose something? (Thanks for OO.o 2, it's my daily tool!)

I checked the list of contributors via Crtl-SDT on 2.0.1 and found my name still
missing. If this is standard practice then we have a problem.

Openoffice.org Spreadsheets lacks statistical analysis that Microsoft Excel and
Gnumeric have. In organizations I worked the statistical analysis tool was used
widely, because it gives the basic statistical information that an organization
needs and helps forecasting. The Data Pilot feature is really good, but has to
be added Statistical analysis too, so to Openoffice.org Spreadsheet be
integrated. These 2 tools are used in many organizations.
