I am able to get it to import the field properly if the field contains two single quotes enclosed in a set of double quotes. The test file at the url above is an example file that shows this behavior. Excel doesn't exhibit this behavior. >From what I read of RFC 4180, it looks like OpenOffice is not RFC compliant. That said, implementing CSV doesn't seem to straight forward either (there seem to be several interpretations of how a CSV file should be formatted). However, given that OpenOffice is an office suite and strives to be compatible with Excel, I think its behavior should be similar to Excel's. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. It is definetly still there. Try to have a look with small zoom factors (<100%). But maybe you experienced some other problem as well that got somehow fixed. Because at latest if the zoom factor goes up to about 180% there was no sign ever seen of the effect. Thus if it occured on your box up to 500% there must have been something else happening. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 40957] improved caption manageme nt
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=40957 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Jan 5 21:23:08 -0800 2006 --- Issue 60016 (which contained a related problem) is marked as duplicate of this issue and closed. Probably developers won't see Issue 60016 now; so I am repeating what was described there: *** "When frames are linked, their captions get stacked in the last frame." This is because- (a) The caption in each frame is supposed to be at the end of the text; and (b) In a chain of frames, the text is supposed to flow across the frames. If the captions are treated as property of a frame (not a simple text), then this problem too will get resolved. *** Note also the closely related Issue 60019, which requests for font+paragraph styles to be attached to the captions, so once assigned/edited, the new frames can inherit those properties. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. But on second thoughts, I think this would not be possible, as the location of these sentences is not the same as the captions. Another thing: In a chain of frames, each frame has a different set of sentences: > The top frame does not have the "Continued from page x" sentence at its top. > The last frame does not have the "To be continued on page y" sentence at its bottom. > The intermediate frames will have both sentences. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Just a little thought: To use the context menu, the user has to select the specific frame (or in general, any object--such as picture, etc). Then he is clear WHAT he is going to format. So the object's name in the command is redundant. In other words, just the "Format..." also is fine IMHO. BTW if this same comment is to be applied to all objects (and not just frames), then the summary should be changed to- In an object's context menu, rename the command as "Properties..." - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=60108 Issue #:|60108 Summary:|Allow duplication of range names (duplicated across |sheets that also copy with the sheet) Component:|Spreadsheet Version:|OOo 2.0 Platform:|All URL:| OS/Version:|All Status:|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard:| Keywords:| Resolution:| Issue type:|FEATURE Priority:|P3 Subcomponent:|editing Assigned to:|spreadsheet Reported by:|tonytarrant --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Jan 5 20:46:45 -0800 2006 --- The range naming feature where a name may only exist once in a spreadsheet file appears to be very limiting. Contrast this with MS Excel where the same name can exist for a workbook and for any number of the sheets in that same workbook (although admittedly this feature is not trivial to use because it is not always simple to set up). There are many times in spreadsheet modelling when it is desirable to set up part of a model on a sheet and then replicate that sheet to represent similar parts of the model. For example consider a report that is produced for each division in a company and also as a company total (a very common reporting task). This can be modelled with a company report and divisional reports each on their respective sheets, all of which are very similar. Adding a new division typically requires replicating an existing divisional sheet and changing some data which is very quick and easy. Calculations can refer to company wide (global) data from the company sheet and divisional data on the respective divisional sheet. When range names do not apply at the sheet level it is impossible to build the divisional model to take advantage of the range naming features. It can not use names in formulae that refer to divisional data. Automation that needs divisional data would appear to be similarly limited. In my experience, modelling situations like this occur all the time so it would be very desirable for Calc to be able to handle them. The howtos are easy, but you usually have to sacrifice a lot of papers to know this. 'Print only selected sheet' can be set as the default. Why not? May be it because it'll turn the problem around, when a user want to print the whole workbook and can't find how. Then why not put the 'Print only selected sheet' check-box in the main print dialog box? Debugging old snapshots is, most of the time, only of limited interest to the developer. Then I would start shortening the configure script until only the failing part remains. As you didn't post any output after the configure call I would assume that something at the beginning fails. Have a look at config.log. For making bash scripts more verbose look at "man bash" (sh == bash). But in this case this might not help you as configure is haevily redirecting its output. If you would have a bash/sh with debug information you could use addr2line to get the failing position in the code (but you don't). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The configure command coredumps now and then, > but can work just by rerunning the same command line a few times. I get the > impression that the bash window with the loop can disturb the tcsh window. Guess why I'm asking for small (Not needing an OOo environment) reproducible testcases. I'm 1000 miles away from my windows boxes therefore I cannot do any debugging on snapshot problems. But be assured, it works for me. No cores here. (With 20051224 snapshot, I had problems with a later one). Btw. they are called snapshots because they are not stable ;) The rest of your report is not specific to the topic of this issue, I will not comment much on it, but let me repeat: The VCTK is not functional, I didn't rip it out of configure because I hoped I could make it usable but it might have some rough edges. Re --with-extra-dotnet-files, the structure of configure allows to use each switch only once. If you use one twice, the second wins. So, what would really helpfull now is a small testcase (a shellscrip, programm) that hangs reproducible on your system. (One of a few hundred tries is enough, but it must show the problems somehow.) If configure hangs for you: great! It's a script, strip it down until you find the offending sequence. Btw., configure cannot core dump, it's a script. (I might be wrong here, but I never heard about a script that coredumped.) But it might be worth looking at the core files that you find. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Because of the creator code listed in the OpenOffice.org 2.0.app/Contents/PkgInfo file, (dplt), whenever a user launches any AppleScript droplet (Creator: APPL and Type: dplt), KeyServer thinks OpenOffice is being launched. Changing the PkgInfo file from: APPLdplt to: APPLOOo2 allows KeyServer to properly track the launching of Open Office. Perhaps the file should be APPLOOo2 by default? By running the command below, in a separate bash window, while running dmake I can build several projects: $ while true; do ls /proc/*/fd; sleep 2; done I've had problems coming this far. cygwin (?) does not seem stable. The configure command coredumps now and then, but can work just by rerunning the same command line a few times. I get the impression that the bash window with the loop can disturb the tcsh window. This is the command line I use currently: ./configure --with-cl-home="/cygdrive/c/Program/Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003/Vc7" --with-jdk-home="/cygdrive/c/Program/Java/jdk1.5.0_03" --with-use-shell=tcsh --with-midl-path="/cygdrive/c/Program/Microsoft Platform SDK/Bin" --with-csc-path="/cygdrive/c/WINDOWS/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v1.1.4322" --with-frame-home="/cygdrive/c/Program/Microsoft.NET/SDK/v1.1" --with-ant-home="/cygdrive/c/Program/apache-ant-1.6.5" --with-extra-dotnet-files="/cygdrive/c/Program/Microsoft Visual C++ Toolkit 2003/include" --with-extra-dotnet-files="/cygdrive/c/Program/Microsoft Visual C++ Toolkit 2003/lib" --enable-cl-standard The first --with-extra-dotnet-files is overridden by the second, therefore I patch winenv.set by: 1. Adding as second last to ILIB: c:\\Program\\MICROS~3\\include; 2. Appending to CC and CXX -I/cygdrive/c/Program/MICROS~3/include I did 2, to make guw.pl find yvals.h. I have very different versions of yvals.h and don't know whick one to use ("Microsoft Visual C++ Toolkit 2003" or "Microsoft Platform SDK"). I've finally reached the compilation of autodoc/source/display/html in 'build_instsetoo_native'. And there I get compilation errors (see end of attached dmake-log). I think I've mixed to many h-files and libraries. I'll attach the cygcheck -svr output below. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Every volunteer who tested the (Italian, in our case) 2.0.1-RCx versions had to perform a "network install" in order not to mess with an existing OOo 2.0.0, as the default install would have overwritten 2.0.0. The workload to implement this is negligible and this would reduce the Network Install instructions to: "Start the installation, extract files, then Cancel and double-click on netsetup.bat". - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
