SmGetActiveView should not be called wherever possible since it uses
SfxViewShell::Current() got more unreliable and may return 0 pointer even if a
view is available.
Also all dialogs requiring access to the view should be created in SmView and
get the view pointer as an argument. Currently some of those dialogs are created
in SmDoc::Execute where the view still has to be guessed with SmGetActiveView.

OpenOffice improperly imports a field in a CSV file that contains only a single
quote. I am able to get it to import the field properly if the field contains
two single quotes enclosed in a set of double quotes. The test file at the url
above is an example file that shows this behavior.

Excel doesn't exhibit this behavior.

>From what I read of RFC 4180, it looks like OpenOffice is not RFC compliant.
That said, implementing CSV doesn't seem to straight forward either (there seem
to be several interpretations of how a CSV file should be formatted). However,
given that OpenOffice is an office suite and strives to be compatible with
Excel, I think its behavior should be similar to Excel's.

No it isn't fixed. It is definetly still there.
Try to have a look with small zoom factors (<100%).

But maybe you experienced some other problem as well that got somehow fixed.
Because at latest if the zoom factor goes up to about 180% there was no sign
ever seen of the effect. Thus if it occured on your box up to 500% there must
have been something else happening.

Issue 60016 (which contained a related problem) is marked as duplicate of this
issue and closed. Probably developers won't see Issue 60016 now; so I am
repeating what was described there:

***
"When frames are linked, their captions get stacked in the last frame."

This is because-
(a) The caption in each frame is supposed to be at the end of the text; and
(b) In a chain of frames, the text is supposed to flow across the frames.

If the captions are treated as property of a frame (not a simple text), then
this problem too will get resolved.
***
Note also the closely related Issue 60019, which requests for font+paragraph
styles to be attached to the captions, so once assigned/edited, the new frames
can inherit those properties.

I recommended linking of the sentences to captions. But on second thoughts, I
think this would not be possible, as the location of these sentences is not the
same as the captions.

Another thing:
In a chain of frames, each frame has a different set of sentences:
> The top frame does not have the "Continued from page x" sentence at its top.
> The last frame does not have the "To be continued on page y" sentence at its
bottom.
> The intermediate frames will have both sentences.

[sw-issues] [Issue 60056] Rename the "Frame..." com mand in frame context menu

"Format Frame..." is accurate, and so is "Properties...".

Just a little thought: To use the context menu, the user has to select the
specific frame (or in general, any object--such as picture, etc). Then he is
clear WHAT he is going to format. So the object's name in the command is
redundant.

In other words, just the "Format..." also is fine IMHO.

BTW if this same comment is to be applied to all objects (and not just frames),
then the summary should be changed to-

In an object's context menu, rename the command as "Properties..."

The range naming feature where a name may only exist once in a spreadsheet file
appears to be very limiting.

Contrast this with MS Excel where the same name can exist for a workbook and for
any number of the sheets in that same workbook (although admittedly this feature
is not trivial to use because it is not always simple to set up).

There are many times in spreadsheet modelling when it is desirable to set up
part of a model on a sheet and then replicate that sheet to represent similar
parts of the model. For example consider a report that is produced for each
division in a company and also as a company total (a very common reporting
task). This can be modelled with a company report and divisional reports each on
their respective sheets, all of which are very similar. Adding a new division
typically requires replicating an existing divisional sheet and changing some
data which is very quick and easy. Calculations can refer to company wide
(global) data from the company sheet and divisional data on the respective
divisional sheet.

When range names do not apply at the sheet level it is impossible to build the
divisional model to take advantage of the range naming features. It can not use
names in formulae that refer to divisional data. Automation that needs
divisional data would appear to be similarly limited.

In my experience, modelling situations like this occur all the time so it would
be very desirable for Calc to be able to handle them.

TT.

I found several users complain about printing the entire workbook while they
only intended to print only the current sheet. The howtos are easy, but you
usually have to sacrifice a lot of papers to know this.
'Print only selected sheet' can be set as the default.
Why not?

May be it because it'll turn the problem around, when a user want to print the
whole workbook and can't find how.
Then why not put the 'Print only selected sheet' check-box in the main print
dialog box? This should solve this recurring problem.

Attached is a database file that I have been working for someone. OpenOffice has
crashed, with no imediate return to recovery (I had to restart OO to get
recovery started) twice while I was doing the exact thing.

The database was sent to me, and I have made extensive changes to the data
model. It included a form named caseDetails which contains a number of sub
forms. I was in process of updating this form to work with new datbase schema.

Specific step I had taken that lead to the crash:

Open the form CaseDetails for edit.

Open the form navigator and select the sub form MainForm>OpposingCounsel
Open the toolbar 'More Controls'
Add a table grid to the form, just below the label 'Opposing Counsel' - about
half way down the form.
Open the property editor for the grid control
Change the setting for show navifator from Yes to No (Twice this step caused the
crash)

I am running WinXP HE SP2, JRE 1.5.0_05 and 2.0.1 release.

I am also attaching the second crash report.

St,

I am unable to replicate this issue, I tried to follow the same steps as
provided by you. Both the links shows the vote help page and not a blank page.

Please correct me if i am wrong in following these steps:

1. After logging out of the site, clicked on the "votes for issue #" - takes you
to http://qa.openoffice.org/scdocs/votehelp.html 'vote help page' with no blank
page.

2. After logging in the site, tried to click on "votes for issue #" - takes you
to http://www.openoffice.org/scdocs/votehelp.html, showing the 'vote help page'
with no blank page.

Please verify

Looked a little more at the load.
It is explorer.exe that consumes a lot of cpu after a failing configure (the
prompt is displayed in the bash window) and during a hanging "man bash".

It takes a minute or two for the load to get normal again.

I'll switch back to the latest snapshot later.

>As you didn't post any output after the configure call I would assume that
something at the beginning fails. Have a look at config.log.

I didn't even get a new config.log.

$ man bash
given as the first command after tha failing configure, seemed to hang. It took
a long time to start a new shell, 100% CPU load.
ctrl-c gave this:
$ man bash
8 [unknown (0xC58)] sh 2608 child_copy: stack write copy failed,
0x22D950..0x23, done 0, windows pid 2283652, Win32 error 5

Error executing formatting or display command.
System command (cd "/usr/share/man" && (echo ".ll 13.5i"; echo ".nr LL 13.5i";
echo ".pl 1100i"; /usr/bin/cat '/usr/share/man/man1/bash.1'; echo ".\\\
""; echo ".pl \n(nlu+10") | /usr/bin/tbl | /usr/bin/nroff -c -mandoc 2>/dev/null
| /usr/bin/less -isrR) exited with status 32768.
No manual entry for bash

(later man bash worked properly)
I've seen "child_copy: stack write copy failed" many times, is it due to
ctrl-c?

Yes, I forgot to tell you that the cores are called *.stackdump :)

First I would go to the latest snapshot. Debugging old snapshots is, most of the
time, only of limited interest to the developer.

Then I would start shortening the configure script until only the failing part
remains. As you didn't post any output after the configure call I would assume
that something at the beginning fails. Have a look at config.log.

For making bash scripts more verbose look at "man bash" (sh == bash). But in
this case this might not help you as configure is haevily redirecting its
output.

If you would have a bash/sh with debug information you could use addr2line to
get the failing position in the code (but you don't).

I have tons of Excel spreadsheet here in my work and all them opens in Calc.
So I need to find out a file that could reproduce your behavior.

Seems you cast a light here: the file was exported by phpmyadmin.
I do not have phpmyadmin installed here (but can install).

Can you export other file (anyone) and send us?

Thank you.

Hwoarang

Summary says it all... Unfortunately, I'll have to use an attachment option
here.
Translation is aligned with m148, no help content translated, about 80-90
strings left out from UI.

>>This<< is not very specific ;)

Guess why I'm asking for small (Not needing an OOo environment) reproducible
testcases. I'm 1000 miles away from my windows boxes therefore I cannot do
any debugging on snapshot problems. But be assured, it works for me. No cores
here. (With 20051224 snapshot, I had problems with a later one).

Btw. they are called snapshots because they are not stable ;)

The rest of your report is not specific to the topic of this issue, I will not
comment much on it, but let me repeat: The VCTK is not functional, I didn't rip
it out of configure because I hoped I could make it usable but it might have
some rough edges.

Re --with-extra-dotnet-files, the structure of configure allows to use each
switch only once. If you use one twice, the second wins.

So, what would really helpfull now is a small testcase (a shellscrip, programm)
that hangs reproducible on your system. (One of a few hundred tries is enough,
but it must show the problems somehow.) If configure hangs for you: great! It's
a script, strip it down until you find the offending sequence.

Btw., configure cannot core dump, it's a script. (I might be wrong here, but
I never heard about a script that coredumped.) But it might be worth looking
at the core files that you find.

We use KeyServer to monitor application usage of all programs, even free ones
like OpenOffice.

Because of the creator code listed in the OpenOffice.org
2.0.app/Contents/PkgInfo file, (dplt), whenever
a user launches any AppleScript droplet (Creator: APPL and Type: dplt),
KeyServer thinks OpenOffice is
being launched.

Changing the PkgInfo file

from: APPLdplt
to: APPLOOo2

allows KeyServer to properly track the launching of Open Office.

Perhaps the file should be APPLOOo2 by default?

Thanks,

OpenOffice.org 2.0 Calc

Enter series of 0.01 into cells B2:M2 and type
=SUM(B2;C2;D2;E2;F2;G2;H2;I2;J2;K2;L2;M2) or =SUM(B2:M2) into cell N2.

The result should be 0.12 but is displayed as 0.00

Typing =0.01*12 into a different cell shows the correct result.

. The options/view has the display zero values box checked.
. The display (Number Format: Add Decimal Place) has been set to show 10 decimal
places.
. The column width has been set to "optimal column width" sufficient to show 10
decimal places.

The file scalc.exe is dated 10/5/2005 1:18 PM

It contains only few lines, sal_Int32 -> long so it doesn't affect 32bit

I might add that if you use the internal date representation number instead of
the date, then the function appears to work. It's still a bug though, as it
means you have to enter the date first in another cell, format that cell to show
the internal representation and then copy it into the dialog box :-( I don't
honestly think it was designed to work like that ;-)

I've changed to use the 24.12.2005 snapshot. It does not work better.

By running the command below, in a separate bash window, while running dmake I
can build several projects:
$ while true; do ls /proc/*/fd; sleep 2; done

I've had problems coming this far.
cygwin (?) does not seem stable. The configure command coredumps now and then,
but can work just by rerunning the same command line a few times. I get the
impression that the bash window with the loop can disturb the tcsh window.

This is the command line I use currently:

./configure --with-cl-home="/cygdrive/c/Program/Microsoft Visual Studio .NET
2003/Vc7" --with-jdk-home="/cygdrive/c/Program/Java/jdk1.5.0_03"
--with-use-shell=tcsh --with-midl-path="/cygdrive/c/Program/Microsoft Platform
SDK/Bin" --with-csc-path="/cygdrive/c/WINDOWS/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v1.1.4322"
--with-frame-home="/cygdrive/c/Program/Microsoft.NET/SDK/v1.1"
--with-ant-home="/cygdrive/c/Program/apache-ant-1.6.5"
--with-extra-dotnet-files="/cygdrive/c/Program/Microsoft Visual C++ Toolkit
2003/include" --with-extra-dotnet-files="/cygdrive/c/Program/Microsoft Visual
C++ Toolkit 2003/lib" --enable-cl-standard

The first --with-extra-dotnet-files is overridden by the second, therefore I
patch winenv.set by:
1. Adding as second last to ILIB: c:\\Program\\MICROS~3\\include;
2. Appending to CC and CXX -I/cygdrive/c/Program/MICROS~3/include

I did 2, to make guw.pl find yvals.h. I have very different versions of yvals.h
and don't know whick one to use ("Microsoft Visual C++ Toolkit 2003" or
"Microsoft Platform SDK").

I've finally reached the compilation of autodoc/source/display/html in
'build_instsetoo_native'. And there I get compilation errors (see end of
attached dmake-log). I think I've mixed to many h-files and libraries.

I'll attach the cygcheck -svr output below.

Modify pyuno/python for Mac OS X.

Mac OS X always have system python. System python is using .so for shared
objects. OOo's internal python contains several patches that hack internal
python to use .dylib instead.

Clean that so internal python is using .so too, deliver pyuno as pyuno.so.

I don't believe this is obsolete and I suggest reopening.

Every volunteer who tested the (Italian, in our case) 2.0.1-RCx versions had to
perform a "network install" in order not to mess with an existing OOo 2.0.0, as
the default install would have overwritten 2.0.0.

The workload to implement this is negligible and this would reduce the Network
Install instructions to: "Start the installation, extract files, then Cancel and
double-click on netsetup.bat".

Pressing F9 has no effect. The left ordinate of the X-axis remains at 12/30/99
which is totally worthless and defeating to what I am trying to do.

Only the right ordinate changes. this results in the valuable part of the graph
schrunched into a skinny slice.

--- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Jan 5 11:25:46 -0800

*Confirmed - This behaviour occurs for me under Windows XP, SP2 w/ OOo 2.0.1

*Changing priority to P4. For more information on priority, please see:
http://www.openoffice.org/scdocs/ddIssues_EnterModify.html#priority

*Modified description to include the phrase "produces slow window repaint"

Additional Notes:

-For me, the problem is intermittent. Sometimes I get the "smearing" effect
described, sometimes the repaint rate is fast enough that I don't notice it.
-The screenshot included above is accurate as to the visual effect produced
-As previously observed, the effect goes away shortly after you have released
the mouse to finish resizing.
-I can't reproduce the status bar problem mentioned. @brianread98 -> If you
still have the status bar problem, please post a seperate issue with step by
step instructions for how to reproduce.

Thank you, with the number of people we have on our network, this is a big
