[framework-issues] [Issue 63637] New - Better font substitu tion algorithm for Chinese fonts
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=63637 Issue #:|63637 Summary:|Better font substitution algorithm for Chinese fonts Component:|framework Version:|OOo 2.0.2 Platform:|All URL:| OS/Version:|All Status:|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard:| Keywords:| Resolution:| Issue type:|ENHANCEMENT Priority:|P3 Subcomponent:|code Assigned to:|tm Reported by:|fundawang --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Mar 26 00:11:43 -0800 2006 --- There are a lot of font vendors in China, and they are providing same fonts in different names. For instance, Vender Foo named its Song as Foo Song, vender Bar named as Bar Song. But acturally, Foo Song and Bar Song renders 90% the same as each other. Considering the huge number of styles of Chinese fonts, I would suggest some smart substitution algorithm on this issue. Therefore, the only way to modify a formula in a writer document is to select it and use the menu, which still works. This bug is therefore invalid now, since there is no more Formula button accessible (I didn't found it either in the toolbar options). [installation-issues] [Issue 56985] Native install is too rig id
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=56985 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Mar 26 01:32:39 -0800 2006 --- I'm sorry, as I'm not a native english speeker, I didn't understand the meaning of being sking for something (and didn't find any good dictionnary on my desktop that could help me). Anyway, I believe you that the main rpms are relocatable, even if I cannot test it. As I've managed to install in a temporary directory other than tmp/opt/openoffice, I think OpenOffice files are indeed relative to each other. I would find it more simple not to add the opt/ prefix in the RPMs, but this is definitively not a show stopper. But, as far as the menu integration RPMs is concerned, I was not clear enough I think. To be able to install in another directory, or as a simple user, I simply suggests: - to have the desktop packages detect the location of OpenOffice, or accept an option to tell them; - to detect if they are run in root account or simply as a user; - if run as root: * set up the /etc/openoffice.org-2.0 symbolic link to the right directory (this is the first relocation problem); * detect the location of desktops to integrate with (KDE, Gnome), and copy desktop integration files in these directories (this is the second relocation problem, they **may** not be in /opt/kde or /opt/gnome !!). - if run as user (for non-root install): * add a ~/openoffice.org-2.0 symbolic link to the right directory (which would be in ~/whatever the user chose in this case); * add symbolic links for soffice and spadmin in ~/ * copy the desktop integration files in the user's desktop configuration directory (for instance, ~/.kde). I think detecting openoffice, kde and gnome target directory can be done with rpm and apt... This would make the installation process usable in non root account, and would make desktop integration fully relocatable, and more generic (ie : depending only on the package tool of the distro). Finally, simply add to the readme file in the tarball explanations of which packages are needed and must be installed. Not all users will look at the desktop integration directory, since nobody told them to do so. Reducing the package numbers would help a lot too (core, writer, calc, base, impress, draw, and desktop packages for instance, as I explained previously). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [graphics-issues] [Issue 63643] New - latest OO lets backg round hide content in full screen and some oth er views (1.1.5 better)
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=63643 Issue #:|63643 Summary:|latest OO lets background hide content in full screen |and some other views (1.1.5 better) Component:|Presentation Version:|OOo 2.0.2 Platform:|PC URL:|http://www.bcs.org/upload/ppt/schoolssurvey.ppt OS/Version:|All Status:|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard:| Keywords:| Resolution:| Issue type:|DEFECT Priority:|P3 Subcomponent:|viewing Assigned to:|wg Reported by:|axs --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Mar 26 03:41:42 -0800 2006 --- Tested on Linux and XP on PC, so it is probably a fault on all? See http://www.bcs.org/upload/ppt/schoolssurvey.ppt (described in http://www.bcs.org/server.php?show=ConWebDoc.3356) The above is a high-profile (British computer Society) presentation of recent research on attitudes to computer science in Schools. It was recently presented at a major conference of UK Computer Science academics. So many may be trying to look at it in OO, and if it fails that will harm the reputation of OO. In OOo 2.0.2 there are two problems, only the second of which (b) below shows up in OOo 1.1.5. (a) in full screen mode the graphical contents of slides 3 to 10 are not shown even though they are shown in other modes, and included in exported PDF. (This problem does not occur in OO 1.1.5). The cause seems to be an opaque white background panel being shown on top in full screen view, but not in other views. So it looks like a bug related to full screen view. (b) In slides 16,19,20,21 the text key indicating what colours mean does not show up. In this case the problem is that it is there but hidden by the black background. This one shows up in OO 1.1.5 and in the exported PDF. That suggests the bug is related to how the file is imported to OO from powerpoint format: the depth order of the graphical components is wrong. (I am not an expert user of either Powerpont or OO -- I use Latex for my own work. I use OO only to view stuff done by other people. So I may have misdiagnosed the cause -- found as a result of my accidentally discovering the 'break' menu option in OO. But I hope my description of the symptoms is clear enough to help OO experts find the problem.) All of the pertainent information to solve an issue should be in one and only one issue. The information provided here is essential to solve the .pkg issue vice using .dmg. Also, if there waa a PRIOR issue, then that issue should be updated and the new issue marked as a duplicate, not the other way round. Get Java installed (for instance JRE). 2. Get JMF (http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/2.1.1/download.html). 3. Make the JMF archive executable: chmod +x jmf-2_1_1e-linux-i586.bin 4. Make sure java is in your PATH. 5. Run the executable archive. This will unpack JMF in JMF-2.1.1e (adapt for your version), and try to detect you hardware configuration. This **does not** install JMF in the JRE directory, everything will be placed in JMF-2.1.1e. 6. Start OpenOffice. 7. Go to Tools|Options|OpenOffice.org|Java. 8. Check the check box to activates Java. 9. Wait for a few seconds. Available JVM will be presented. 10. Select one JVM. 11. Click on the Classes path... button. 12. With the dialog this buttons opens, add the path to JMF-2.1.1e. That's it! More codecs can be added afterwards, but this is the minimum to get the media player working with OpenOffice gallery media. May I suggest to provide more information in OpenOffice archive README file and in Help? And, while Java and JMF are not fully configured, to deactivate the Media player, or at least give a warning, as previous comment asked for? This is simply unusable for standard users under Linux (OO 1.1.5 is still far better for this, whatever OO folks may say). At least, this is not out of the box, depending on the distribution used. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [framework-issues] [Issue 56922] Unable to play sound from the gallery
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=56922 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Mar 26 06:45:24 -0800 2006 --- Reproducing added comment in 51654 for people trying to get sound working (and not looking for more general request of support of several multimedia format), which could as well find this issue first: For non-german speaking people, here is a summary of the actions in order to get MM work under Linux (summary of the tutorial): 1. The scripts have been modified in following ways: InstallationCheck -- check for Panther and X11 PostInstall -- install fondu ScriptTools.scpt -- helper functions moved to this file main.scpt -- the script for OOo.app... With the fondu removed and using helper functions. It works, but there are bugs. use the makepackage.sh to create the package. It occurs, when a python object is destructed, whicht itself keeps office objects. The fix is probably not so difficult, but it will take some time till I will add pyuno related fixes to the main trunk again. Would a pyuno patch in source helpful for you ( = do you build the office yourself ?) ? The bug is there since the first versions of pyuno. It probably occurs now because some implementation within the office has changed which provokes the error. - Details: guilty stack: A python object shall be destructed, which itself tries to destruct an uno object. The error here is, that the destructor keeps attached to the python runtime during these calls. If I load a Write document, or a Calc one with cell with hyphenator active, it does not hyphenate. I've some text, set as Italian regarding language (I've Italian also as default document language) To make it work as it should, I just have to: Tools - Options - Language settings - Writing aids then do NOT touch anything, just press OK button, then Writer (or Calc) re-parses the text and hyphenates as expected. In the Windows version, since there is the QuickStart, if you run Writer or Calc again, then hyphenation works, but if you close QuickStart it does no. For the GNU/Linux version (I've debian sid), in my second PC I've completely removed the previous version, hunted for config files and deleted, then reinstalled, but the bug persists. Previous versions (2.0.2, 2.0.1 for sure) did not had this defect. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
