If you set a background color for all pages, it won't print the margin line on any pages. If you set no background color, it won't print a margin line on any pages. This is a particularly troublesome bug for those of us trying to create postcard mailers with a background color on one side and none on the other side. This is on WinXP Pro (all the latest updates), OpenOffice 2.0.3, with a Savin C3224 network printer with the latest printer drivers from the Savin website. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Many times users attempt to add the directionality buttons to the toolbar, and fail since that settings is off. See for example a post to the users mailing list made yesterday: http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=users&msgNo=125156 Many of these user problems would be solved if adding the directionality buttons to the toolbar would automaticly enable that option in the setting, since the user obviously wants to work with CTL if they add those buttons. Ideally OOo will detect the need for CTL support (from the locale settings & avilabele keyboard layouts), but that would be another issue. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 59740] Should fall back on differ ent fonts when a character can't be rendered
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=59740 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Aug 5 17:39:27 -0700 2006 --- Easiest way to see whether another font contains it is to use Gnome's character map. Then highlight the diamond operator. Then cycle through the font-list and watch for changes in the appearance (a right-click on the character will give you a bigger preview and will state the font the rendered glyph comes from). To solve your particular problem, you could try to add the font FreeSerif to the list of serif fonts known to fontconfig. To do so, edit/create /etc/fonts/local.conf (using /etc/fonts/fonts.conf as template) and add Free serif to the alias section defining "serif" fonts. You can also modify OOo's VCL.xcu (but that should be more problematic since you'd have to modify it after each update) I think I'm going to close this one as worksforme, since it is impossible for OOo to get a suitable font in this case. It would have to test every single font installed to get one that matches by chance. This would cause a major performance hit and thus is not doable. Replacements either need to be defined in OOo itself (in VCL.xcu - done for well-known fonts, it is impossible to add every font there) or on the system-level (aliases) It might as well be that OOo treats this (mathematical) character as symbol-character (so that the replacement list of symbol fonts is applied, not the one of the font-style (serif/san-serif) - but that doesn't really matter in this case since the same reasoning applies: It is impossible to account for every single font. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To the best of my knowledge, there are three ways to get evaluated but all three involve a manual process: 1) CTRL+SHIFT+F9 2) ALT+F L 3) Code the formula with something variable concatenated with the function call {(e.g. T(A1)&CELL("filename")} and change that variable item after the Save as. .. I believe this is caused by the fact that there is nothing variable in the format of the CELL("filename") function call i.e. "filename" is a constant string. Thus there is nothing to force a fresh evaluation of the formula. It appears to me that what is needed is a flag associated with the formulae that identifies that a formula contains this particular construct exists and when Save as... is invoked formulae should be checked for this flag. Here is how you can perform a test of this problem: 1) Create a new spreadsheet. 2) In cell A1 enter =CELL("filename") 3) Select Save as... from the file menu and give the file a name. 4) Look at A1 and you will see that its value is unchanged. 5) Either perform CTRL+SHIFT+F9 or select Reload from the file menu to see that this value should indeed have changed. For a designer of a spreadsheet application to have to tell the "great unwashed" user community that they need to perform one of these extra steps is not satisfactory. -- Jim - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. When one enters a random string in a box in calc, this is not a sentence. There is no sentence beginning or ending, yet autocorrect is activated!!! This is DISGUSTING. I try to enter the data again, manually, and autocorrect AGAIN mangles my entry. Autocorrect should do whatever, but if user for SECOND time enters something that autocorrect wants to change, it should leave it as-is. As far as calc behavior I do not believe it should capitalize anything unless sanity checks are done as to whether the entry is a sentence. If I write formulas with many lines, it is very time-consuming to write "newline". And it's crazy to write a word - only for a new line. Why making the usage so complicated? Just hitting enter would be so easy. I think many other users would like that, too. If you make it as an option, everyone can do it in the way he likes it. Prior to “Winders”, block/underscore cursors were common and I found them preferable to the I-Beam. Emacs offers a blinking block text cursor so I don't believe they're limited to old commmand line editors. You will get a blue part of about a quarter, but it should be a half. To see, how it should work, export the rectangle to 'Enhanced Metafile' and insert that graphic. Use Replace there and you get a blue part of half of the rectangle. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I personally would consider it really useful to open documents in tabs in stead of in a new window. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=68178 Issue #|68178 Summary|eyedropper doesn't work on some metafile types Component|Drawing Version|680m179 Platform|PC URL| OS/Version|Windows XP Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|editing Assigned to|wg Reported by|regina --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Aug 5 04:24:56 -0700 2006 --- I use OOo-dev m180 but the error is in previous versions too. Take a draw document and draw a rectangle. Set the background to a gradient from red to green. Copy the rectangle and insert it as "GDI Metafile". Copy the rectangle and convert it "To Metafile". Mark the rectangle and export it to "StarViewMetafile (.svm)". Insert the generated grafic. Open the eyedropper. Fetch red with the pipette and set 'recplace with' to blue with a 50% tolerance. Now click on either of the metafiles you generated above. The Replace button is enabled, but clicking it does nothing. To see, what should happen, export the rectangle to "Enhanced Metafile" and insert the grafic. Now clicking on Replace half of the rectangle will become blue as expected. Also grafics in OS/2 Metafile (.met) and Windows Metafile (.wmf) will work. (Export to wmf is buggy, but that is another issue.) Replacement should work or, if it is not intended to work on such metafiles, then the Replace button should be disabled. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
