[sw-issues] [Issue 32141] manual page break with sty le change in masterdocument ignored
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=32141 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Sep 10 01:13:23 -0700 2006 --- Hi, Form issue 60326 (a duplicate) there is an important point what I have to add to this issue, because ES have written: If a manual page break is done with a page style change, not only the style (correct) but also the break itself is ignored (bug). I think, the correct style-handling of the subdocument is the folowing: If a manual page break is done with a page style change, the style has to be ignored if not exist in the Master Docuemnt, but should have applied if the style is exists (with the same name) in the MD. (Because the style exist in MD and SD and can use different settings, the style of MD should be used.) Without this refinement, the subdocument cannot use different (eg. portrait _and_ landscape) page styles (because otherwise it is not affected in the MD). Larger (sub)documents can contains some landscape pages, and not a good solution to split a subdocument as many parts as many style change in it. So we have to handle better the style changes in SD. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [gsl-issues] [Issue 62174] VCL.xcu still needs correc tion of misspellings on real font names.
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=62174 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Sep 10 02:20:43 -0700 2006 --- Problem: There are some misspellings in the file VCL.xcu regarding a set of 4 Japanese primary MS fonts whose name begins with a sequence of fullwidth letter M and S. Impact: Leaving the misspellings untouched results in failure of choosing a default font name of the applications - Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw - on Windows. Each application mistakenly chooses the first one - default font name for Solaris - from the list of possible default font names defined in the file VCL.xcu since the application on Windows cannot find an appropriate font name due to the misspellings. Consequently, the interoperability with other applications on Windows is broken. Creating a document from the scratch with OpenOffice.org on Windows and saving it in Microsoft Office file format, and opening it with Microsoft Office results in different text layout. Microsoft Office cannot find the font name for Solaris specified in the original document and then uses its own default font, instead. Patch: Here is a procedure to correct misspellings regarding a set of 4 Japanese MS fonts in the file VCL.xcu revision 1.54. To correct them, substitute a sequence of fullwidth letter M, S, and ideograph space with a sequence of fullwidth letter M, S, and normal space by the following command: perl -i.bak -pe 's/(\xef\xbc\xad)(\xef\xbc\xb3)(\xe3\x80\x80)/$1$2 /g' VCL.xcu Information 1: For the previous release, 2.0.3, Japanese community has provided Japanese users with a corrected file VCL,xcu and an installer that easily installs the file into user's installation set of OpenOffice.org 2.0.3. Information 2: Microsoft Windows variants Japanese comes with a font MS UI Gothic as a UI font, which is one of the three fonts collected in the font file MSGOTHIC.TTC. Our file VCL.xcu, however, currently does not use the font for UI. It is not a big deal, but the font MS UI Gothic is used by other Windows applications as a default UI font and is slightly thiner than MS PGothic, our current one, and saves room for smaller resolution of display device. That could be taken of in the near future. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I have also see that, avaiable OOo dictionaries, are missing in that list for some languages. I understand that some dictionaries are not included into OOo build for the licenses that they use; but I think that the OOo site must have the last available or/and better have also a link to the official site of each resources. It is better to have a wiki page where all people can add link to official sites. In official sites you can found latest versions, additional dictionaries and features (these can be very useful for people in OOo usage), localized help and lot more ... I make an examples on Italian dictionaries (they are issue with GPL license). 1) in http://lingucomponent.openoffice.org/spell_dic.html there is a very old dictionary and the last one can be found here: http://linguistico.sourceforge.net/wiki/doku.php?id=dizionario_italiano 2) for Italian user there is also an addictional dictionary with Italian surname that can be found here: http://linguistico.sourceforge.net/wiki/doku.php?id=dizionario_cognomi_italiani probably next time we will add also some specialistic dictionaries 3) in http://lingucomponent.openoffice.org/thes_dic.html there is a very old and incomplete thesaurus (probably working only with OOo 1.1.x) . Latest version can be found here: http://linguistico.sourceforge.net/wiki/doku.php?id=thesaurus_italiano Note that all italian project are very active so new version are generated more time during one year. As I have write it is better to have a wiki page (http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Main_Page) so link can be updated from users. Give better dictionaries to users can be a very good OOo improvment. Ciao Davide - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. When I use a SQL query with named parameters (something like: position = :position) to link a subform to a main form there is only a popup window to ask me to supply the parameter but the subform stays empty. In OOo 1.1.X the same query and form works without any problems. In extended properties of the database connection replace named parameters with '?' is activated. I tried different Versions of MySQL (4.0 and 4.1), different computers, a jdbc and a ODBC connection to the database and the latest jdbc driver from MySQL. I think the problem is in the connection OOo to MySQL because someone reported to me the use of named parameters works well with OOo and PostgreSQL. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I tried to install 2.0.4-RC1-de from oootranslation-services over a OOo-2.0.3-4. In the shell it didn't work with rpm -uvh. Then I did it with Yast2. But the install-process stoped (idle) at package core01. I had to kill Yast2 and start the install-process again. I was now able to update the packages, that had not been installed in the install-process, I had to kill. After this second process OOo was updated to 2.0.4-RC1. I tried again to update core01 with Yast2 and I saw also an idle of Yast. I think there must be a problem with one of the RPMs (may be core01). All elements on the line will end up underlined. It also seems to happen if I increase the bullet depth after a single element, such as 1. test 1. _test_ line The above will cause both the first and the second lines to be completely underlined. If this is assigned to wrong issue, please assign forward to right issue I happened to run into this when doing another test with RTF format. This is from my test log. = SEPARATE , ISOLATE LATER, GO TO BACK 20, REPEAT 20A. NOT SO NICE: - the picture added in OpenOffice 2.0.3 can be dragged into the middle of text - when saved in OpenOffice 2.0.3 and opened again in Word 2002, somehow the picture added in OpenOffice 2.0.3 seems to be disappeared - after thorough lookup, the picture added and dragged can be found - it is minimised to miniatyre size, but it is hardly visible in Word 2002 - position of the dragged and dropped picture added in OpenOffice 2.0.3 is seems to be totally different when watched in Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 = Saved test.rtf == when whatched with Word 2002 the miniatyrised picture is lurking just before number 6. = CONTINUE 20A, step by step, try to repeat - is this also unrepeatable?? Simple picture in Word 2002 and in OpenOffice 2.0.3 1. create picture in other program, copy to clipboard 2. open Microsoft Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 3. New text document 4. add enough enters 5. Add sample text to the document 6. move cursor to a line where there is no text 7. adding picture: EDIT = Paste special = Picture 8. save document as RTF 9. close Microsoft Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 10. Open OpenOffice 2.0.3 11. Open RTF-file 12. drag and drop the picture into the sample text 13. save document as RTF 14. Close OpenOffice 2.0.3 15. open Microsoft Word 2002 (10.6802.6735) SP 3 16. Open RTF-file 17. NOT SO NICE: this is very hard to repeat - UNREPEATABLE. I repeated phases 1-16 many times - I swear - but I could not repeat as it was in phase 20A in the main test tree. It seems that it is somehow related to the position of the picture. Normally the picture added to RTF file in OpenOffice is only in wrong place in Microsoft Word 2002. This shrinking seems to be a randomised feature. Well. You cannot win always. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. If you want I'll raise this as a Gentoo bug and get someone more familiar with the innards of OOo on Gentoo to have a look at it? @rainerbielefeld - they're coloured because Calc is matching the highlights, just like it does when you enter something like =A3*B7. At least, it would be if I could get around this limit. This behavior is identical in 2.0.2 and 2.0.3: - Create a brand new, empty spreadsheet. - Select all rows (Ctrl-A), set Row Height = 5pi. (5 pica) - From the Drawing tool, create a graphic element. A rectangle works fine. - RightClick the new rectangle - Position and Size dialog box. - Set Y position = 51000pi. - Scroll down to row 10188 (approx). Scroll up or down to find the rectangle, it should be pretty close by. - Right click the rectangle again - Position and Size dialog box again. - What is the value of Y position? For me it is 50727.95pi. - Try again to set Y position = 51000pi. - For me, nothing happens. The rectangle stays exactly where it was, 50727.95pi. - Right click the rectangle again - Position and Size dialog box again. - Click the down arrow on the Y position field, the Y position value counts down. Click the up arrow on the Y position field, the Y position value counts up. But it will not count past 50727.95pi. For me, it just stops counting at this value. - Drag the rectangle downward with the mouse. - Right click the rectangle again - Position and Size dialog box again. - What is the value of Y position? For me it is 0.00pi. So: Using the Position and Size dialog box, it is impossible to move a graphic object to any Y position greater than 50727.95pi, either by entering a numeric value or using the up arrow. Using the mouse to manually drag a graphic object to any Y position greater than 50727.95pi results in a Y position value of 0.00pi in the Position and Size box. I desparately need a fix or a workaround. PS: Don't know if this is related at all: If every row height is 5pi, then Y position 50727.95pi ought to be near the middle of row 10145, *NOT* row 10188. This discrepancy was previously reported as Issue 38113. Graphic coordinates and cell coordinates just don't line up. But my main point with this issue is *not* the misalignment; this issue is about the limit for the position value of a graphic element. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. A line of explanation about what to do with that stuff at the bottom of the window might be nice. A broader question is, What are those double quotes in my data good for, anyway? Double quotes or single quotes may be chosen as text delimiters. If I have chosen a text delimiter, and put it around my data, shouldn't that data then be treated as TEXT ?? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I should have clarified my last message as saying: it does not like all that text with br instead of p! If you could extend it's tolerence for br, then I think it would work. In the mean time, could you tell me why OpenOffice does not load html files, with the css instructions, which are in the file, applied? You have to go and change everything with --search --styles. You can't even use that styles box, because it changes the font etc. If there is some predefined way to do this right, could you, please, let me know?
