I cannot check or prove this, but I have just checked some older manuscripts from autumn 2005 and January/February 2006 and these documents also contain EndNote fields and I have no recollection about having had any problems with this. So either this is a problem in the newer OO versions or EndNote has changed their field format and this caused the problem. I was simply opening the notes_2006 ODS file, and switching to Sheet 3, the first one with a chart. I did not have a chance to type anything into the file before it crashed. In fact, I realized later that something was wrong in may installation. OpenOffice (OO) was updated to version 2.0.2 by the core repository of Fedora http://fedora.redhat.com/download/mirrors/fedora-core-$releasever, and **concurrently** with the RPMS for version 2.0.3 found on the OO site. For some reason, the rpms of these two origins conflict one with each other, so that the Fedora rpm does not realize that version 2.0.3 is already installed, and it re-installs version 2.0.2 on top of version 2.0.3. The openoffice-core file is a single file on Fedora, while it is splitted into numbered pieces on the OO repository. Therefore, I cleaned-up everything and re-installed version 2.0.3 from the original OO RPMS files, and now it works fine.
