I use windows XP When I apply for jobs I cut and paste the essential criteria from the ad usually downloaded from the web, and use each criteria downloaded as a heading for my CV. I find that the spellchecker works for a while then ignores some obviously missspelt words. This would appear to confirm that the problem is with the fonts. Of course there is nothing obvious in the document to alert a person of the problem. I went round in circles trying to change settings then cutting and pasting bits into another document which mostly also did not work. As a quick fix I need to know quickly which fonts will work and which ones will not. I cannot see an easy way to do that so I highlighted the text and tried the obvious Ariel, Times Roman and a few more. No success. In despiration (I needed to get the application done) I highlighted the whole text and used the default style. It meant I needed to play with the document a little but the spell checker worked. This advice may save some other uses some frustration. If there is a way of identifying the fonts that the spellchecker will work on it would be better. The notification I read seemed to blame the person notifying for not providing enough information. I can send you documents that the spellchecker will not work on but I think the problem is easy to reproduce. It is frustrating and a key part of the system and not obvious to the user why the thing has stopped working. I hate to say this but plan B is always to save the doc and load it into microsoft word.
