I am not able at the moment to reproduce the issue. I was able to reproduce it on several PCs of users some days ago but no more at the moment. I did some testing with the file posted and here are my discoveries; -I copied and pasted the whole posted file to a new word file (and saved the file). The first thing I noticed was that the new document I created was 47 pages long as apposed to the original document which was 44 pages long. I then attempted to open the original document with OOo, the file seem to have loaded 1/4 before OOo crashed. I attempted to open the new word file in OOo and it started loading but crashed near the end of the loading cycle. -I then created a new word file only copying and pasting the 1st two pages of the original posted file and saved the document. I then opened the new in OOo and the document loaded fine. After some more testing I found that if one were to copy and paste the 1st 13 pages of the original document into a new word document, save the document, and open the document in OOo, OOo will load the document without crashing. I also found that if I were to copy and paste pages 13-14 into a new word file, save the file, and open that file with OOo, OOo would crash. I also noticed that copying those two pages from the original document and pasting then in a new word file provided me with 3 full pages as apposed to two pages, where the second page of the new document was a full blank page. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Here's why. A common use for OO (and CSV) has got to be accounting-type calculations, where everything is rounded to 2 decimal places. In this case, the default of Save cell contents as shown makes sense. Another (possibly less common, but nonetheless important) use is scientific, or otherwise high-precision calculations. In this case CSV export is also far more important, because that's often the easiest way to transfer data to/from custom applications. The current setup fails miserably in this regard: a) Excel, last I checked, preserves all decimal places by default. So, people who are coming from Excel are unaware of the problem. b) Data loss occurs, but it mightn't be immediately apparent. People waste a lot of time as a result. c) The checkbox is not easy to notice. An inattentive or unsophisticated user will conclude that OpenOffice CSV export is broken, and will likely go right back to Excel. d) If need full precision, the odds are that you need it all the time. Remembering to uncheck the box, and making those extra clicks, is a nuisance. So, to summarize, this checkbox is terrible for people who care about decimal places. In contrast, somebody doing accounting type math: a) (I surmise) does not need CSV export as often. b) Does not suffer a major setback when a CSV is saved with full decimal places. c) Can achieve the desired effect even without finding the checkbox: by using ROUND, by doing search-and-replace in a text editor, by hand. So, the current state of affairs royally screws a (smaller?) group of people, and gives a small benefit to (larger?) group of people. I propose a variation on hvbakel's suggestions. The save dialog should look like this when CSV file type is selected: File list [...] File name: File type: [x] Automatic file name extension [ ] Save with password /grayed out/ [ ] Save cell contents as shown (may lose decimal places) /after the initial install, this is *off*; the checkbox remembers its state between save dialogs/ | More options This is an expanding pane, instead of the silly dialog. It is hidden in the initial install, but it remembers its state (hidden/shown) from one save dialog to the next. It contains: Character set [...] Field delimiter: Text delimiter: [ ] Fixed column width This modification addresses: a) Dataloss by default b) Discoverability of the option c) Annoyance at having to set the option to your preferred value every time I also snuck in change dialog to a pane, but this is optional. From Beyond Adobe Reader in Adobe Reader 8: Standard Forms Adobe Reader allows users to fill out standard PDF forms and print them. Data entered cannot be saved directly back into the PDF File. This means that you will not be able to save the form data. I even tried it with an unprotected PDF (exported from your .odt attachment) and it allowed me to save in Preview, but gave the same error message as in the attachment, which is expected. With the attached PDF, Preview (A Mac OS X application) it will not allow a save. In Adobe Reader 8, it is the same as above. When I performed steps 9-11 after downloading the provided file, I get both texts flying in at the same time. This happens even though under the Custom Animation properties the Effect Fly In for shape 2 is set to start after previous, where previous in this case is shape 1. As soon as I change an option in the Effect Fly In for either of the shape and then hit F5, the the execution is in-order. At this point, if I save the file and perform steps 8-11, the texts will fly in at the same time again. It seems that the problem only occurs when you save the file in OOo as a .ppt. I open a large file and read several pages and then come across several white lines. There are no paragraph markers or tabs or spaces or anything to hint that something is missing but I know its missing. This white space cannot even be seleced. I've found this is intermittent and may have something to do with large files (of 30 pages). Closing and reopening the document may or maynot bring the missing text back.
