I can confirm that annoying behaviour (but with some differences in details), every upgrade is a little wordbook lottery, and I always loose - the wordbooks are lost. I upgraded from "2.0.2 German version WIN XP: [680m5(Build9011)]" (with user wordbooks in 'C:\Programme\OpenOffice.org 2.0\share\wordbook\de) to "2.2.0RC2 Multilanguage/German version WIN XP: [680m9(Build9124)]". The new version had new User wordbooks in 'C:\Programme\OpenOffice.org 2.2\share\wordbook\de' and 'C:\Programme\OpenOffice.org 2.2\share\wordbook\en-us'. I was receiving the same error except 'suitable' was spelled correctly. I
resolved the problem the "hard" way, but I'll provide my input in hopes that it
will help troubleshooting efforts.
My OOo-2.1.0 build was working correctly for about a month. I am using a Cross
Linux from Scratch-1.0.0, multilib AMD64 base system with an Xfce-4.4 DE on top
of Xorg-7.1 (with shared libXau) with all of the patches released by Xorg (and
no others) applied. Gtk+-2.10.9 is patched so a sed can be used to change
hardcoded lib paths in various Makefiles. Everything built with gcc-4.1.1,
binutils-2.17, and glibc-2.4. I do NOT have SELinux installed.
OOo-2.1.0 was built from source:

Recently, I installed the following packages:
GTK-Engines, GNOME-Themes, GNOME-Doc-Utils, GNOME-Desktop, GNOME-Backgrounds,
GNOME-Menus, libwnck, libsoup, Evolution-Data-Server, GNOME-Panel, GAIL, EEL,
libexif, libgsf, Tracker, Nautilus, Metacity, libxklavier, Control Center,
GNOME-Session, GNOME-Terminal, libGTop, GNOME-Applets, libgnomecups,
libgnomeprint, libgnomeprintui, Yelp, GNOME-User-Docs
Afterwards, OOo stopped working whether I used the original Xfce DE or the newly
installed GNOME DE and I started to receive the referenced error message.
I rebooted my machine using the backup partition which did NOT have these 28
packages installed. OOo worked as expected from the backup partition. Thus, I
conclude that one of the 28 packages above borked OOo. Metacity stands out in
light of the error message.
I then rebuilt OOo-2.1.0 on the production partition (the one having the
problem) using the same set of OOo tarballs. After the rebuild, everything OOo
worked in both Xfce and GNOME. I no longer receive the error message.

I've opted out of ever going back to using a Microsoft Office platform and vowed to stick with learning how to create all my previously made MS forms in OOo; which includes business cards, address labels, CD\DVD coverart, and word documents into pdfs. I realize it isn't going to be easy. Although it's not as difficult as the transition from MS-PC to Linux, it shouldn't be so that difficult to go from MS Office to OOo. Maybe by the next version upgrade of OOo it'll be allot easier for users like myself. See attached screenshot: I got the Control Forms box to display and see the [ABC] text box icon, 3rd down on the right column, yet it's gray and shaded. I went into the drop-down menu and looked to see if the icon choice was checked and it was, so it should be showing and work for me to enter a text box. It seems to work fine in an ordinary word document but it shows up grayed out in the screenshot of the business card template. I'm not a secretary nor transcriptionist so I don't know any technical stuff outside of what is either visible or readable in a manual. I understand your point but I believe this design decision was originally faulty because: 1) Office computers very often do not have speakers. This is so for the 100 computers in my office. However sound is not explicitly muted, so no visual bells. Therefore sound feedback may not be working (same for my linux laptop, sound turned down so bash autocompletion doesn't annoy me). 2) The whole point of an autosave function is to save intermittently for safety, but to do so unobtrusively. Interfering with text input is not cool because the user is not always looking at the status bar or working with volume turned on. This means the user will wierdly not see keypresses made, which is counterintuitive - enough that I have noticed it several times. You need to listen to your usability testers. 3) "Current doc is being saved so it can't be edited" is really a strange point to make. OOo makes the decision to flush the keyboard buffer after autosave, does it not? If so reversing that decision would solve the problem. I hope you will reconsider. As more business people use the software this point will come up again and again. I don't think this happens in MS Word at least. I am unconvinced that enough effort has been made to ask real world users whether this is a problem or not. I believe it is and have just finished typing 10,000 words with it happening only once in this document. If you really don't want to fix it, how about at least making the screen flash or something in addition to your beeping or whatever the auditory feedback is during saving which I have never, ever heard due to (1) above. I can *guarantee* you that people who are just using OOo as a tool for work, who work in an office without speakers on their computers or with speakers turned off (very common I believe) would call it a bug for their keypresses to be willfully ignored silently, especially if they can easily be pasted at the cursor when autosave is done at least using 1980s technology. Not trying to seem annoying but to give you the reasons for my post. Thanks for your efforts!
