Personally, I prefer to always use styles instead of direct paragraph formatting - but for character formatting of a few words in a paragraph I use direct formatting, such as Ctrl+B and Ctrl+I. When I insert a note for the first time and start entering text, everything is fine until I press ENTER upon which all the text I entered into the note disappears. However, I can highlight the text (even though I can't see it) and copy/delete/modify it as I please. The note text does show up when I start editing it. As Chris mentioned previously, editing an existing note is problematic, although I don't have the problem with the text turning black, my experience is that the text simply disappears (but, again, is still able to be highlighted). I've even seen a case where creating a brand new note and pressing ENTER multiple times while creating the note makes the text higher up disappear even though text at the bottom of the note is still visible. When a Graphics Styles menu window is open, and the style is changed and a
different tab is selected in the menu, the previously changed styles are applied
to the graphics prematurely (before "okay") is pressed. This doesn't seem like
an issue, except if the user presses cancel, the redrawn graphics remain even
though no new style was applied. Follow the steps below to reproduce this
problem. A sequence of screen shots are attached.
1. Draw any shape (a rect in our example)
2. Right-click on the shape, and click "Edit Style"
3. Alter pretty much anything (for this example, under the "Line" tab, change
width to 0.50"
4. Click another tab ("Transparency")
5. Drag the "Graphics Styles" window across the shape underneath. It will
redraw the shape under the path of the window with the changes made in step 3.
6. Click "Cancel" on the "Graphics Styles" window. The part of the shape that
was directly under the window will redraw with the original settings, but the
changes will stay applied to the changed "dragged" area.

Sure, I can tab through and get the line highlighted but then right-clicking and trying to get the object properties pulls up the regression line formatting issues. If there is a regression line then right-clicking on the highlighted data line pulls up the regression object properties which forces the user to highlight the data line using the tab key and then going up to the menu bars to be able to change the data object properties. In short, there are 2 ways to alter data object properties - going to the menu bar or right-clicking (if no regression line) but when a regression line is present then the user can ONLY go to the menu bar to change the underlying data object properties and they MUST use the tab key to get there. Honestly, this SUCKS as a user interface and if this is going to be left as-is then don't shoot the messenger when people complain about inconsistent user interfaces. Problem solved apparently had nothing to do with openoffice code at all it in
fact was result of two RH patches.
1. This one was a problem at start because built without hunspell, later I built
hunspell and included this patch again. Solved autospell check issue was able
to type more than one character with enabled
openoffice.org-2.1.0.oooX.lingucomponent.systemhunspell.patch
2. This one was a issue with cppuhelper I resorted back to a patch supplied with
2.0.4 package and the crash when going to options was solved

My primary work involves auditing the whole medical activity taking place in a
big county. One frequent task is to count the number of different diagnoses for
individual patients.
The string looks like this: "B18.1; G20; I20.9; I12.9". These tokens represent
individual ICD10-coded diagnoses. So, I would like to count how many diagnoses
are there (i.e. FindCount(";",'the_string') + 1).
2. I found the code for *REGEXP* searches inside the ScInterpreter::ScSearch()
function. Unfortunately, I do NOT understand much of it and I fear that there is
NO good documentation on it.
I will try to implement a ScSearchCount() function later, just by cloning the
ScSearch() function.

I then download postgresql-8.2-504.jdbc4.jar class, removed the old class from the Java class path and added in the new one, and tried it with the same results. The Postgres database version is 8.2.1 running under Windows XP on another PC.
