This has caused confusion with a number of users. A number of them have posted inquires on the OOoforum board. The user wanted a fully functioning desktop database, but without Writer also being installed they are not able to create forms or reports. The installer should be enhanced to do one of the following: A) Not allow a Base only installation. B) If a Base only install is selected inform the user that features will not be available. C)Install the needed files to support forms and reports. Testing under OOo 2.3m_211 when this is done the forms and reports sections of the Base window are disabled, as are the context menus for creating a form or report. The table wizard however still offers the option to create a form in the last step. If this is selected a window is opened and the application appears to hang at this point. In fact it is not hung as the window can be closed. Users do not always realize this however. Here is the latest report from a user at OOoForum "Guys, Building a table is so easy! But OO won't let me create a form based on the table! No matter what I do it won't! 1) I first built a table in design view - after I was done, I right clicked the table, but no option to build forms came up ... all I saw was copy, delete, edit etc. 2) I then tried building a table in wizard - after I was done, I chose to build a form based on the table ... OO then opened this window ... and started loading something before it just hung! I have no idea what to do! The last time I asked this question nobody even bothered with replying me! Please help! Jacc188" There have been a few users all entering similar messages on the board over the last month or two. I did not test this under 2.2 but did uninstall 2.3m_211 and then reinstall only the Base module. Attached is a screen shot when I used the table wizard to create a new table and selected create form in the last step. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Using PrintKey (freeware) i have taken a cut of what i mean from an example and will see if can upload the image. Notice the words worl auo caswes markl. This was when i only had 512mb of memory. Pasting the above typos into an test document now marks them, or at least part of them, so it is likely a problem with Vista's great demand for memory. [www-issues] Re: [Issue 76881] Column width changed on switching printer type and saving as xls
Hello Frank, Many thanks. Tested and here is the result. With the 'Printermetric' ticked. I can see physically on the screen that the column width change after sending to another type of printer. But checking width with the right click shows 2" (i think not updated). Save the file and reopen it and it shows 2.05". With the 'Printermetric' not ticked There is no physical change seen on the screen. all other behavior as described previously. For both cases, other than being able to physically see the width change, all other behavior is same as previously described. tkj --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: > http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=76881 > > > > > > --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu May 3 09:13:55 + > 2007 --- > Hi, > > please have a look at Tools-Options-OpenOffice.org Calc-General-Use > Printermetrics for textformatting. > > Frank > > - > Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from > Issue Tracker. Which server? You mean the website? Or do you mean "in the tree"? Which cws then? If it's not fixed in the tree (i.e. in some cws) this issue shouldn't be marked as fixed since the tree is what this issue was and is about. (and you probably should mention the cws if it's committed to some cws). *If* the issue depends on 71993 (which you set yourself) it can't be closed either since it waits for the fix to actually happen. Prolly worth having a poke to see how other suites do this. we should work out why this keybinding is different to people's notion of the standard - and fix that. Also - this function is not a 'make superscript' 'make subscript' feature - but a more powerful rotation through a set of options eg. State ActionNew-State subscr Ctrl+ normal normal Ctrl+ supers supers Ctrl- normal etc. [ at least, this is how I remember it being some decade ago - perhaps things have changed (?) ] - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The ERROR is probably invalid. For details about the CSV-format, see e.g. http://www.creativyst.com/Doc/Articles/CSV/CSV01.htm#EmbedBRs (actually the wgole document is interesting). 1.) Fields that contain double quote characters must be surounded by double-quotes AND the embedded double-quotes MUST each be represented by a pair of consecutive double quotes - this csv-file contains lots of fields like the following one: ...;"some text"> more text"even more text";... those inner quotes are probably invalid 2.) Fields that contains embedded line-breaks must be surounded by double-quotes - this csv-file contains many lines that contain an ODD number of quotes, therefore, the filed DOES NOT end on that line, but would extend on the next line until an ending quote is reached!!! see e.g. line 184 in the original csv-file: - it contains 21 quotes I will append a simple gawk-script that can be used to detect lines with an ODD-number of quotes, therefore these are probably INVALID CSV-Files (IF one line is supposed to be equivalent to ONE record)! - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. What would be nice is to be able to select which formatting elements you are going to pick up with the brush. For example, if I select some text that is part of a bullet list, bold, italicized, green, in Courier font face, and 10 point sized, I may want only the font face, bullet paragraph, and color. But the format brush is all or none. The improvement can leave the main functionality as it currently works: click button once, pick up the complete format for one time use; double-click to pick up the complete format for ongoing use. But the new capability could be exposed by putting a drop-down option on the format painter button, similar to how the Undo and Redo buttons have drop downs. The drop-down could have options for "Just Paragraph Formatting" and "Just Font Face" or "Other Options." Other Options could open a small window of check-box options allowing you to pick up "Character Elements" (font face, font size, color, superscript, etc.), "Paragraph Elements" (bullet, line spacing, indents, etc.), and other options. This would make our format brush better than Microsoft Offices and show that OpenOffice development is innovating beyond Microsoft Office, not just replicating it. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. This goes against most user interface guidelines and is very frustrating for users who use the keyboard commonly to navigate menus. For example: In all, the File Menu - the letter "D" activates both the "Export as PDF" and "Send" In Impress, the Insert menu - the letter "U" activates both the "Duplicate Slide" and "Picture" menu items. It is likely easy enough to review the menu structure in the resources for the app to find these duplicates, so I won't try to highlight all of them. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. It would be extremely convenient to be able to disable spell checking for a particular document. Even better would be sections within a document, but that would likely incur too much overhead. In any case globally disabling spell checking isn't the best solution and having a ton of squiggly red lines all over a technical document is hard to look at. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. However, I was ask to report this issue upstream to get a definitive answer. The problem description is a cut and paste from the originally reported defect. Problem - I have setup my display size with Yast. Yast detected my screen exactly, that means it detected the right displaysize in mm. But when I open up OpenOffice Writer and zoom my document to 100% it is bigger than a real DIN-A4 page. That means OpenOffice doesn't use the right DPI settings from Xserver automatically so that documents do NOT appear on the screen in correct size. With another version of OpenOffice on another distribution it worked so that my documents had the same size on the screen like a real paper (can't remember which version it was) How to reproduce: 1. Change your DPI settings of your Xserver to the right values 2. Open OO Writer and your document will have another size than a real DIN-A4 paper for example. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
