I had read somewhere that Lotus Symphony was supposed to be based somehow on OOo, but briefly looking over the app makes it look like it's built on Eclipse; perhaps it just borrows code from OOo for .odt support, and thence the confusing media articles? This problem doesn't occur under Suse Linux (also using a release candidate of OOo like Ubunutu is currently doing) and also not under WindowsXP (with neither OOo 2.3RC and nor OOo 2.3final): If something else than Ubuntu is used, the OpenCards menu bar always appears. Note: This bug is not related to OpenCards itself (which is still alpha), but only to the extension infrastructure (i.e. the processing of its Addons.xcu) The strange workaround for the problem is to install another impress extension which also has a menu bar like the mOOo Impress Controller. Than both (!) menu s are visible. This means that extensions interact although there is no reason to do so. For some reasons I don't understand the mOOo menu also appears when being the only installed extension. One possible reason might be that mOOo does not use any icons in the menu. It hangs at 100% CPU in 2.3.0 Windows with all parameters set to their defaults. I removed my 2.2.1 Windows when installing 2.3.0, so I use 2.2.0 Linux for my old version when testing. I presume that developers have better access to multiple versions. To produce the problem, my steps are: 1) Open the attached file in 2.2.0 Linux. Writer starts without incident. 2) Shut down Linux and boot into Windows. (I do not have WINE or that virtual-processor stuff, so I just dual-boot.) 3) Delete the ApplicationData\OpenOffice.org2 directory. I do this in order to guarantee that I have all default values for all of the options. 4) Open the attached file in 2.3.0 Windows. Writer goes to 100% CPU. Background: The original document contains about 85 Chart objects, all made in Calc, and then copied and pasted into Writer. These charts are mostly sinusoidal functions plotted as 360 points per curve. All of the charts are the XY Scatter type so that I can control the presentation of the abscissal (X) axis. Additionally, there are about 90 Draw objects. The document is about 170 pages. My investigation shows that the application was hanging up on the first chart. I created a new document with just that first chart, and verified that it has the problem. The chart in the attachment was created using 2.2.1 Windows. In the Notes, Handout and the SlideShow views it looks OK, but in the Slide sorter and in the Slides view in look as befor (not the same as in the normal view). Take a look at the new snapshot. More info: Take a look in normal view at the space line under Julian Beaver's when I'm clicking there the curser in about the font size of 18. In the tool bar the font is ARIEL 88. After doind so a came up with a way to reproduce the bug: 1. Create a new empty pesentation. 2. Add a text box a littel bit under the top of the slide. 3. With the defult font (arial 18) write some words. 4. Press Enter key. 5. Write a second line. 6. Move to the 1st line and select it all. 7. Chang the font of the 1st line to size 88. 8. Move to the end of the 1st line. 9. Press Enter key to add a spce line. this line is added in the font size of 18 but in note the tool box - the font size there is 88. 10. Select all of the seconf line of text (without the space line) and Chang the font size of it to 88 or bigger. 11. Look in the slides view. I have posted how it looks on my PC.
