A second click will select the text in Serif™ PagePlus, but Control + Click is almost as good. If a graphic is on top of text with wrap through then the graphic should be selected first, with a second click selecting the text below. Note that two separate clicks is different to double-click, but a modifier key could also be used. A second click would be more usable as it does not require the use of the keyboard. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The behavior that I am seeing is this: 1) Under Options - Load/Save - General, I set "Save AutoRecovery information every" to one minute. 2) Create an new document and enter some text. 3) Monitor the backup directory, and a recovery file is created after a minute. 4) Return to the document and add some more text. 5) Monitor the backup directory and no updates occur. I have even left it running overnight. 6) If I save the file and enter more text, a recovery file will be saved after a minute. 7) Repeat steps 4-5 above, and I get the same result. I found this first with OOo 2.3 on Windows. I tried OOo 2.2 on my Ubuntu Linux system and the recovery file would update every minute. I updated my Linux system with the latest OOo 2.3 and found the same problem occurring. I plan to, but have not yet tried going back to OOo 2.2 on Windows. This problem cost my daughter 2 hrs work on her book report. Maybe now she'll remember to save every once in a while. The problem is especially difficult when using a flash drive, since I have to go up the '/' directory and down into the '/media' directory. I suspect that the majority of users do not know where to find their flash drive in the directory structure, so I believe that this constitutes a severe usability issue for Linux users. My complete list of quibbles on the File/Open Dialog (and File/Save): 1. Important directories are hard to get to (e.g. flash drive) 2. Icons, text are small, hard to read. 3. The only view is 'details' - I would prefer not to see Type, Size, and Date Modified most of the time. 4. It is difficult to find out how to change the settings to use the default file/open dialog of the operating system. Maybe include a little button that says 'switch to '? That way at least the user can get access to the usable interface. Thank you so much for providing OpenOffice. I find that it is very usable in general, and I especially appreciate the enhancements made to the spreadsheet in OO 2.3. That, however, is not the point. The point is that most Windows based office workers do not have the technical capabilities or time to install mysql or firebird on their windows workstation or departmental server, and they don't have the time or technical capabilities to set up a dedicated *nix box to do this either. These people don't have the time to manage these things, and most don't even know what sql is or for what to use it. These workers, which are the biggest potential markets for OpenOffice need a simple out-of-the-box multi-user database. MS Access offers this capability, Corel Wordperfect offfice offers this capability, Lotus Approach offered this capability, Ability office offers this capability, and even the older versions of StarOffice offered this capability (it may still offer this, I'm not sure). The fact of the matter is that many many small and medium businesses rely on these types of shared user created databases to get work done, even though, ideally, these things would be created by dedicated sysadmins on a dedicated server with a dedicated dbms. Most small and medium businesses don't have this kind of knowledgeable database/system administrator available. So, they rely on the office user that's "good with computers" to do these types of things. I'd estimate that, 90% of the time, this person doesn't have a clue about how to set up a dedicated database service on either his/her computer or on a server. So, my point is that the ability to share OpenOffice's integrated database type and make it multi-user is essential for making OpenOffice a viable replacement to MS Office and others in the majority of small to medium businesses. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [installation-issues] [Issue 56638] Error number 1935 during i nstallation / registration of productinformati on in German native Version of OO v. 2.0 towar ds end of installation, installation imposs
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=56638 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Oct 13 12:01:18 + 2007 --- In our user's mailing list a user reported that OOo refused to start up after having run Hitman Pro, and he could not reinstall it. The installation stopped with an error 1935 and then rolled back. With a new attempt he also got Internal error 2908 {D01FF31D-E0B2-4AA9-9A63-C1C93F74088B} followed by Error 1935. An error occurred during installation of cli_basetypes,publicKeyToken="ce2cb7e279207b9e",version=" 1.0.7.0",culture="neutral". (actually the error was in Dutch; my translation here). In the end the problem was resolved after the following steps: - running "msiexec /unregister" from the start menu, followed by running "msiexec /register" - find all directories having to do with OOo (such as in Program Files and in Documents and Settings//Application data) and removing or renaming them - find on the harddisk any files named cli_types.dll and removing or renaming them - back up the registry, then delete any groups and keys having to do with OpenOffice.org - removing or renaming mscoree.dll from \Windows\System32 After the last step, logged in as another user, he was able to reinstall OOo. This had not been possible until mscoree.dll was removed, so that seems to be an essential step. Whether any of the other steps were actually necessary is unclear. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I use spreadsheet documents for printing invoices. On the first table, the data is specified which is used on the following tables for a printout preparation. So there are printareas defined for the tables #2...#n. The first table #1 is never printed. I only need to print a specific page number out of the defined printareas. I use this method for a long time (since OOo 1.x...). In OOo 2.3 I cannot print anything when the table #1 is shown. A requester tells me, that there are only empty pages (don't forget I try to print a page that is defined as a printarea). When I change the tab at the bottom of the window to a table which is in the printarea and try to print that specific page, there is no requester but alas no printjob is sent (Printqueue stays empty). If I print ALL pages, all pages within the defined printarea are printed. This is a little bit annoying, because I have to keep an older version of OOo just for printing my invoices. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
