I cannot reproduce it on a OOo2.3.0 coming with Ubuntu 7.10.
So, it's either a regression or we needs some special basic conditions to
experience this result.

Finally I got it working.
My public/private keys had been generated in /cygdrive/c/ instead of
/cygdrive/home/cygwin/user/.ssh/
moving the keys in the .ssh directory solved the issue. I am now able to
connect. It would be interesting to document this in the doc I guess..

The download page states If the following Bouncer links do not work then please
select one of the mirrors listed at the distribution page...
There's currently a problem with Bouncer that's the reason why the information
has been put onto the download page. Alternatively you can use
http://download.openoffice.org/680/index-nojs.html
OSUOSL.org (they're hosting Bouncer) has been informed about that. Therefor I'll
close this issue as worksforme

I believe what's currently committed will build and maybe install though I've
yet to complete a build.

I know on the other hand that I haven't implemented the rather complex return a
small struct in multiple registers thing or the even more hairy returned struct
consists of multiple floats which are multiplexed in return registers or
something baroque like that

Reproducible with 2.4m241 on WinXP - you need to position splitter low enough

I rechecked this on the OpenSUSE 10.0 system, the split is removed if the
Gallery/Data Source display pushes it off the bottom of the screen. Vertical
splits are also affected in this manner (my first test had the split in the
middle of the screen).

When the SearchReplace is used to change certain text string in the cells all
advanced character formatting (bold, italic, underline etc.) is lost in whole
cell.

For example I have cell which coutains this text: The quick *red* fox jumps
over the *lazy* brown dog. (asterisks stands for bold)

I call search for the string fox and replace it for dog.

Bold in the words red and lazy disappears then.

Moreover the undo function doeas only undo replacing fox for dog. Character
formatting is lost for good.

OO.o's builtin styles cannot be renamed, but the Name field of a builtin style
is not grayed, thus giving users an impression that it can be renamed. But it
does not accept any keystrokes, users get frustrated and think it is a bug.

IMO this is a usability bug. If a style does not allow renaming, then the Name
field should be disabled.

internally added a document content protection flag (in scsheetprotection CWS),
but it's just a flag to store the check box state for now.

http://eis.services.openoffice.org/EIS2/cws.ShowCWS?Path=SRC680%2Fscsheetprotection01

Instead of making this a distinct menu item, why not provide two check boxes in
the password dialog, one for the structure and another for the content, as
protection options?

In OOo 680m238 (pre-2.4.0) I display the regression function for an exponential
curve (recently implemented in issue 7998). OOo gives the function
f(x)=26.45*1.03^x while Excel 2003 gives y=26.445*e^(0.0252*x). When I work off
both of these, OOo's displayed equation does not match the data well. Could OOo
please show a little more precision?

I am able to replicate all the actions described here.

(a) Using the ToolsCell ContentsRecalculate (F9) route gives no changes.

(b) Using the EditLinksUpdate route as described by gaf314159 does update the
cell, but only to the last saved position in the source sheet.

(c) Using the FileReload options described by cloph works but only if I reject
any other changes I may have made to the document. Whilst this is a possible
workround, it does lead to the possibility of a loss of data - never a good
thing!

As a recent convert from MS Office and WinXP, I am kind of used to the F9
refresh route giving me this function, and something around that solution would
be my preference. However, the solution (b) is just as valid.

One further observation with option (b): The link that I am updating did not
allow me to change it to an automatic update (the radio buttons on the dialog
box are greyed out). There may be an occasion where this is preferable to a
manual update of the data - for example, a reporting spreadsheet that collates
numerous totals from several sources.

I am using the following setup:
 * OOo version   : 2.3.0 + X11
 * System Version: Mac OS X 10.5.1 (9B18)
 * Kernel Version: Darwin 9.1.0
 * Boot Volume : Macintosh HD
 * Boot Mode : Normal

hope the info helps out with resolving.progressing this issue.

[sw-issues] [Issue 85007] Paste of large quantity of text fails after 65535 characters are pasted from clipboard

Using Firefox, I copied a large quantity of text from a web page. When pasting
it into Writer, only the first 65,535 characters (10,619 words) were pasted into
Writer. These statistics are from Writer's Properties Statistics acquired by
opening a blank document and pasting the text into the document. Attempts to
position the curser immediately after the last character pasted and paste the
remaining chunk of text fails to paste any characters. Moving the cursor in
Writer to the line immediately following the last successfully pasted character
permits the paste of the remaining characters. However, moving to the beginning
character of the newly pasted section and hitting backspace to join the 2 pasted
sections results in a major portion of the initially pasted section being
deleted (suspect it is equal to the amount of the second pasted section but
haven't validated the exact size).

Steps to reproduce:
1. Using the text from the following web page,
http://www.freshpatents.com/Bladeless-conical-radial-turbine-and-method-dt20050929ptan20050214109.php?type=description
2. Begin a copy where the patent is being described [0001]... ending with
### near the bottom of the web page.
3. In a new document in Writer, paste the content you just copied from your
browser into the new document.
4. You will notice that the content stops after ...interconnecting with
existin instead of the ### that you highlighted from your browser.
5. Position your cursor directly after the last character n.
6. In your browser locate the paragraph [0104] and find the spot where the last
character was correctly carried over in the word existing. Highlight the g
through the ###, copy it to the clipboard.
7. Back in Writer, paste the contents. Result, no content pasted.
8. Move to the next line in Writer and paste. Result, content is pasted.
9. Move to the beginning of g that was at the beginning of your second paste
and press backspace to join the 2 sections. Scroll up and notice that you have
many missing paragraphs (indicated by the bracketed numbering of the
paragraphs).

Actual Results:
You get a partially pasted set of text done in 2 steps with a portion of the
initial pasted text removed -- you have lost much of what you would have
expected to be preserved.

Expected Results:
Would have expected that all text from the clipboard would have been pasted in
one chunk instead of 2 chunks. Would have expect to be able to begin the second
paste immediately after the first pasted text. Would have expected the
backspace to join the 2 pasted chunks instead of deleting or overlaying a major
portion of the first chunk pasted.

During the past 4 months, I have done a lot of work in Chinese in OpenOffice and
have not experienced this problem. I do not know whether it is because I have
changed my work habits in a way that prevent the problem from recurring or
because it has really been fixed.

I'm running OO 2.3.0 right now.

Since I no longer experience this problem, I think it would be appropriate to
close the issue.

Dialogs that are created in the IDE are displayed with incorrect width. The
problem is intermittent. I have not been able to find a sure way to reproduce
it all the time but it happens to me quite often so it is not a rare occurrence.
(I just don't know why sometimes the dialogs appear with the correct dimensions
and why sometimes they don't.) This problem happens in two different set of
circumstances:

1. It happens when dialogs are being displayed by OOBasic code. That is, when
the dialogs are displayed to be used by a normal user.

2. It happens also in the IDE. If a dialog is opened in the IDE to be edited,
the dialog will appear with its correct dimensions for a fraction of a second
and then its dimensions will be reset without rhyme or reason by the IDE. Only
the width seems to be affected.

This happens with my own dialogs and with dialogs that have been created by
other people. I've also tried it with dialogs bungled in OO and found the same
problem there. So it is not a problem due to the way I create my dialogs.

Just a note to report that I can no longer reproduce this problem in OO 2.3.0.
Cutting and pasting Chinese from gedit to oowriter now works without problem.

Perhaps it should be closed?

I've attached a clip of the actions I perform to reproduce the problem. Note
that the same set of actions I perform in the clip does not *always* result in
the bug showing up. I once had to repeat it 3 times before I got the bug to
occur.

Use slow motion towards the end of the clip to see the dialog box appearing
first with the correct size and then being resized by the IDE.

- open the attached hello.odb
= provided your security settings (Tools/Options/OpenOffice.org/Security/Macro
Security) are at level 2 or higher, you will get a message saying that the
   document contains macros.
- close the document
- via Tools / Options / StarOffice Base / Databases, register the hello.odb
  under an arbitrary name
- open a new text document
- press F4 to open the data source browser
- in the context menu of the newly registered data source, choose Edit database
  file ...
= the database document opens again, but this time without any message about
   it containing macros
- open the form Hello! by double-clicking it
- press the button contained in the form
= nothing happens

(If macros were enabled, a message box would be shown when pressing the button.
However, it seems they are completely disabled without any message to the user.)

Microsoft has recently released visual studio 2008 express (free) edition with
c++ 64-bit compiler - It's beyond my skills to wade through the ins and outs of
compiling ooo for 64-bit (my brief bit of reading on it left me with no doubt on
this). It would be great if someone with the necessary skills could provide a
vista 64-bit version of ooo

:-)

I don't know exactly what's the defect but normal spreadsheet file with some
charts takes over 5 minutes to load. Same file exported to xls format takes
about 5 seconds to load in MS Excel. This is something that everydayjoe
encounters with openoffice.org and decides it's better to continue buying MSO
upgrades...

I'll try to attach the problem file here if possible.

This problem could only be triggered on dmake 4.11 W32 runargv because it
returned
0 when the command did finish, the unixy runargv never returned 0 even if the
command did finish and this made the problem only possible on W32.

This problem did only occur for multi targets because they automatically set the
.SEQUENTIAL attribute for its children.

The previous patch fixes these problems.

@shay: If you want to fix the problem in a special CPAN dmake 4.11 version, then
you only need to apply the second hunk of the patch.

liushibo.
the area you circled in red is not created by intraparagraph spacing. It is
created by line spacing above, which is not well reflected in preview - look
at the screenshot I attach - 7.7cm gap above the paragraph is barely noticable
in preview.

So I change the subject and confirm the issue, if you do not mind.

Summary: Current bug reporting web interface is completely counter-intuitive,
counter-productive, and probably detrimental to the poor devs. Manifestations
may include but are not limited to:
 * Seasoned geeks are unable to even find the 'proceed' link to register a bug
report, despite having registered several before.
 * Completely unintuitive and hyper-technical for usage. This leaves developers
with:
   1) Under reported bugs due to painful interface by users.
   2) Poorly registered bugs as a result of complex and strange selection boxes.
   3) No redundancy check in bug topics / summaries resulting in duplicate bug
reports and laborious triaging.
   4) Wormy snakelike http path to even get registered to file a bug report.
Predictable net loss for developers as end users will be unable to traverse the
path.
   5) Complete inability for mainstream users to post serious bug reports. This
has been tested on at least two individuals of estimated mainstream abilities.

Frequency: Always (5/5 trials for manifestations)

Reproduction: Attempt to create a user account on OpenOffice.org. Attempt to
register a bug. Attempt to maintain sanity while performing step one and two.

Workarounds / Solutions: Seriously considering a bug tracker migration might
help to not only increase viable bug report but also reduce wasted developer
time. Consider the very real byproduct that a large project such as Inkscape as
experienced over an extremely short period of time having migrated to Launchpad:
