To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=83920 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Jan 19 08:38:31 + 2008 --- I send you necessary docs to repeate the bug : - text_to_merge : the text to merge, with fields to be read in the database file, - data_to_merge : the database file, - merged_pdf.pdf : the resulting doc after merging. Step to got PDF file : - Open ODT text, - Open ODB databse, to be sure that text document is able to read is data from it, - then with text doc, choose Printing, answer Yes to merge doc, the choose print TO A FILE, option To A SIMPLE FILE, and to PDF format. As you can see, text doc has 2 rows by page, and the database has 4 rows in this example. So, PDF document should have 2 pages, with 2 records on each. The problem is that, when merging, each merged page is followed by a unsollicited blank page. So, you can see final PDF document has not 2 pages, but in fact 3. If you put 1000 records in the database, the PDF document will have 500 merged pages + 499 blanks pages (strangely, the last page is NEVER blank). Anyway, thank you for you care, and spending time for community ! - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I have seen no indication that there has been any fix on this six-year-old issue. You are right that sometimes things are fixed and we don't know about it, because the issues aren't marked that way until much later. And often things are fixed or enhanced and not even mentioned in the release notes. For example, when 2.3.0 came out, OO *finally* had the ability to use a page size greater than 48 or whatever the max used to be. But I ran across it completely by accident- this major new ability was not mentioned anywhere. In any case, I have 2.3.1 installed and no, it is not fixed. When I export to a jpeg (or other raster format), I am not asked what resolution I want, it doesn't tell me how big the raster file will be (in pixels), the export resolution is mysteriously based on page size, and the maximum rasterized output resolution was 2250x2048. Nothing has changed. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=83947 User janssege changed the following: What|Old value |New value Status|CLOSED|UNCONFIRMED Resolution|WORKSFORME| --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Jan 19 15:52:00 + 2008 --- For me, the field doesn't display exactly the same in Word as in Writer. I have attached some screenshots to illustrate this. By the way: please ignore the first screenshot attachment, I used the wrong mimetype for that one. I downloaded my first attachment (Fill-in OOo import issue.doc) to create the screen shots. They were taken without changing anything to this document. This document has got a Fill-in field with: - Default Value as default value - Testvalue as value actually filled in by me via the appropriate dialog box. In the screenshot of Ms Word you can see that Word displays the value I had entered the previous I edited this document: Testvalue. In the two other screenshots you can see that Writer instead always displays de default value Default Value and never the value that was entered the previous time the document was edited. So my point is not that the dialog box isn't working. It's true, this works exactly like in Word. My point is if a value was entered into the dialog box, Word saves this value with the fill-in field. The NEXT time you open the document, this saved value is redisplayed in Word, but not in Writer. Writer seems to completely ignore such a saved value. To make things more complicated: - The test document has been generated by Word 2000. - When I open this in Writer, the saved value of the fill-in field is ignored - If I put a new value in the fill-in field via Writer, and save the document again as an MsWord document, both Word and Writer will display the saved value for the fill-in field the next time the document is opened. = So apparently, it's only with documents NEVER edited with Writer that this problem appears. Once Writer had a go at it (even if the document is still saved as Word) the problem disappears. This info could serve as a workaround for some people. For me though, that's not a solution, because I have literally hundreds of Word documents with fill-in fields. I don't know the values I should enter anymore, as they are hidden as by Writer. It would be very cumbersome to manually convert all these files. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. However, since ICU per default uses the collation definitions of the CLDR database, to get this corrected once for all applications using ICU or the CLDR database I strongly suggest you push the change into CLDR using the survey tool, please see http://unicode.org/cldr/survey_tool.html By the time OOo3.0 will be released we expect ICU 4.0 to be released too and have upgraded to that, so if the change gets into CLDR early chances are that ICU 4.0 will have the change and we don't need to tailor collation. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=85394 Issue #|85394 Summary|Line spacing in Writer is too big under Linux - Wrong |line spacing Component|Word processor Version|OOo 2.3 Platform|PC URL| OS/Version|Linux Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|formatting Assigned to|mru Reported by|johanneseva --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Jan 19 17:35:20 + 2008 --- Under Linux Mint 4.0 and Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10, the default line spacing for normal documents is far too big. Bug reported and confirmed on Launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/126784 Apparently it doesn't concern Fedora. I observed this bug on OOo 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4 snapshot 680_m2. On Windows, No problem, the line spacing is ok. The same document opened under Linux shows a far too big line spacing (about 140%), so the whole document looses its Layout. It is very problematic since OOo becomes really unusable. I have to use the bugfree windows version on a Virtual Machine since there is no fix! This bug shows up on all 4 machines in my Family, all PCs under Ubuntu or Mint. The bug also existed on Ubuntu Feisty 7.04 This bug is also mentionned here: http://www.linuxjournal.com/node/1000178 And there is a solution, too - namely install the msttcorefonts package. Why does the line spacing grows when msttcorefonts is not installed? I hated OOo for that bug many years, without finding any clue for how to solve the problem - until today. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Now mark all these three words and make new autocorrection rule (name it for example fst to auto change for first second third). Click OK, and try - it means to work but... Open one more time autocorrection rules and look what happend with your new rule - sometimes theres nothing in exchange for place, or you may onle see first - whithout second third. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [framework-issues] [Issue 83943] saving files
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=83943 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Jan 19 19:44:20 + 2008 --- I am having this same problem. When I choose File Save (or Save As ...) from the menu and save the document from Writer, it saves as a generic file. It does this regardless of the file type I choose (I usually use .odt or .doc). When I find the file in WIN EXPLORER, the icon doesn't show up as the OOo icon, and there is no file extension. If I then try to open the file (from WIN EXPLORER, OOo File menu, or from OOo or WIN dialog), WIN EXPLORER opens a dialog box asking me to choose the program I want to use to open the file. It has been doing this since Nov. 2007, about 1 month after I downloaded OOo. Previously, the problem didn't exist. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
