Inserting list entries with custom list style, response starts degrading, then 
goes into unresponsive loop. 
System is responsive, but application is dead. The only way to stop the loop is 
with "force quit". Attached is

Step:
1）Create a impress or drawing.
2）Insert->file,select HTML in file type list.
Problem:
I could not find the any *.htm file in Insert File dialog box. But there is 
not the same problem in writer. I can find both html and htm file in writer.
Because open IE and save the file,it's default file name extension is .htm,but 
not html., so if I select the HTML in file type list, I could not find any htm 
file that I need really. Please have a look.

Something difference in linux version of OOo:
There is no text shown in "Not in dictionary" field of spellcheck dialog. and

My testing environment:
OOo_2.4.0rc6_20080314_Win32Intel_install_en-US.exe + Windows XP SP3 English OS
OOo_2.4.0rc6_20080314_Win32Intel_install_en-US.exe + Windows XP SP2 Chinese OS

This bug no longer exists with the original OOo 2.4.0rc6 installation, but, 
with the 
"Linguistic.xcu" file provided by redflagzhulihua, it is reproducible!

On both OS, the Spellcheck popup window will be frozen for a couple of seconds, 
then begin 
to check the spelling.

After clicking ""Ignore Once" button several times, the duplication issue did 
happen. As 
redflagzhulihua said, it duplicates the first Chinese character of a phrase.

I think it has something to do with Linguistic Module.

I'm a freelance journalist. About half of the time I get paid by the word. Or
rather, I get paid by the word count as counted in Microsoft Word.

Further, I work to fixed word counts. If my editor says, 20,000 words, and I
submit a manuscript that's 20,005, it makes me look like an idiot. It would be
like a programmer forgetting to include a matching curly brace -- it's so basic
that if you can't do it right, you look very unprofessional.

This issue affects all journalists and writers, for whom word count is the
fundamental basis of their business. As I've written before, there are tens of
thousands of us who would gladly switch to OOo if they could. Freelance
journalists as a rule don't make a lot of money -- a lot less than programmers
anyway -- so we are an ideal target audience to expand the OOo user base.

I realize that you are attempting to reverse engineer in a black box situation.
As a one-time programmer myself, I can appreciate the difficulty of such a task,
and I thank you for making a start. But unless you finish the task, unless we
make every effort to make OOo word count compatible with MS Word -- including
any bugs that might exist -- then all the work you've put into this issue is of
no use to me nor to any of the other writers out there.

In "Writer Land", we live and die by word count. It is the measure of all
things, and the final arbiter of all disagreements. It is law. And it is law as
dictated by Microsoft.

Please consider implementing this Microsoft bug.

since we are doing reverse engineering on a black box, not implementing by 
spec. 

Even we have their implementation spec, this case may be their bug, I don't have
good explanation why 2 dashs is word separator, 1 dash or 2 "+" is not, and why
2 dash is a word when it appears in the front of a word,  and not a word when it
appends to a word.

I found this case is because I copy/paste a Unix man page for testing, it has 2
dash for command line option. 

And I believe something we still don't know in their implementation.

So the point is how important this case is and how frequently the case will
appear in normal document.

I can try to implement it, but I don't want to spend time to implement their
bug, could you give me a good explanation.

Changed this issue from a defect to an RFE.

Here is my rational.

There is no real purpose in having escape processing turned on for a view
definition in SQL mode. The query analyzer can never be used against it at run
time. The only use for the query analyzer then was to parse the statement for
the GUI designer and the user, or possibly the application ( see RFE 87222 ),
negated this use.

The only affect then of running the view definition through the query analyzer
for 'SQL view' is to raise the risk of displaying an error that is meaningless
in the context of databases engine.

chance that the statement will be such that it can not be parsed by the query

with an error message the definition should be opened in SQL view, with escape

There is one case that is not easy to implement. 

"This--is" and "--help" are 2 words in MS Word, while "This-is", "-help", ""
and "this--" are 1 word.  It seems only for dash, other punctuations are not
like this.

We treat all cases as 1 word in current implementation, and it is consistent for
all punctuations.

If that is acceptable, I can commit this cws, otherwise I have to twist the
rule, and I am not sure how difficult it will be.

This doesn't match the dialog in the vanilla 2.3.1 version at all.

Your dialog is missing the "Automatische Dateinamenserweiterung" checkbox.

implementation is, to integrate it without the need of another toolbar.
Therefore it does not show up in the wiki.

@all: The functionality you requested is handled separately in Writer (revision
functionality, Note functionality). From the user's point of view it is very
similar - I completely agree!

Last week I started a discussion with cj if there is some interest in
integrating Notes and revision functionality. I have no final answer yet (and
unfortunately it is unlikely anytime soon).

If we look at the Notes, there is no need for another (floating) toolbar.
Toolbars are completely separated from the context, the Note, and are often
"lying around" without any good reason :-) Therefore managing the Notes should
take place at the Note itself (e.g. the drop-down menu). You proposed such
contextual actions in issue #87086.

Navigation will be handled with the current functionality available in the
Navigator and the previous/next buttons in the Writer window. This functionality
is already available at a fixed place.

I don't know what issue is solved by selecting the color for the author - today
it is handled automatically. Do you want the same author to get the same color
after re-opening a document? Or do you have anything in mind which I don't
understand? Anyway, as far as I know, the color of the author is handled across
the OOo modules, therefore it does not refer to the current document only.


If we stick with the current functionality there is no need for the toolbar. Do

I can see your point, however I did a little looking and Canon has this printer
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=182&modelid=12892#ModelTechSpecsAct
that retails for $500.  It was a maximum DPI of 4800x2400.
  Now I don't want to go so much into the nitty-gritty details, I think it's
beside the point.  However I do want to point out that printers are getting
better and as they do the user will want higher resolutions.  Why not just set
it up so they can pick whatever they want.  (Then write that help page I
mentioned before to teach people all this stuff about how your resolution
doesn't have to be so high.)
  I have to admit that I did have some misconceptions, and I'm sure now that
discoleo knows more about this stuff than I do.  But at the same time I'm a
believer in over engineering.  That way 5 years down the road hopefully it will
still be adequate.

Some time ago I proposed to add a little placeholder to the Note Side Pane
(similar to the text frames in Impress). This placeholder should be placed at

Some of the issues mentioned above are solved here (no double-clicking, better
discoverability, clear position). The developer mod told me, that an

 Is anything being done on this?  Someone set the status to "Started" but then
the milestone is simply "OOo Later".  I realize that it's not high priority, but
for those of us that use other numbering systems than decimal it would be very
nice.  Even if it was a case of having to hard set each cell to the numbering
system desired it would still be very beneficial.

  For anyone that has tried to open my "Corel Draw Export Dialog.jpg" attachment
I don't know why it doesn't work properly, (at least it didn't for me), but it
did open just fine when I downloaded the "link target".  So the file is intact,
but there must be something irregular about it making it so it isn't displayed
on the website.  If anyone knows how to fix it, I certainly wouldn't mind it
being done.


  Oh, and thanks to cl for pointing out that Draw already has the export
"selected" feature.  Tells you how little I've bothered to use it.

Only that the printer can print only a dot of a single color:
 - either cyan, magenta, yellow or black
 - to print a different color (including shades of gray), it will use
   many of these dots to emulate a single picture "pixel"
 - for 101 shades of gray, it needs 100 dots (a grid of 10 x 10 dots)
 => real resolution: 2400 / 10 = 240 pixels per inch with 101 shades of gray
 [this explanation is slightly inaccurate, because Inkjets use a different
  error diffusion dithering technology than Laserjets]

Bear in mind, that even this Agfa (which is an industry standard Imagesetter,
see http://www.c-doc.com/agfa_avantra_series.htm) does print only 300 pixels per
inch (so called LPI). [Its max LPI is between 400-500, but it usually prints at
300 LPI.]

So what chances do you believe exist, that an office printer matches the
resolution of the Imagestter?
