I'm afraid that Microsoft won this battle, because instead of having decent RTF support and excellent DOC/XLS support, we will have 50% RTF and 75% DOC/XLS support and forever-doomed partial OOXML support. Everything available but nothing perfect. I think there should be one REALLY good bridging format.
