The reason why libfreetype.so has a package of its own was to make it easy to
not install it on systems that already have one.

Actually, with the move to Solaris 10 as our Solaris baseline, I don't think
there are any X11 based OS/desktop(s) left, which are supported but do not have
a system libfreetype.so. Therefore I opened the CWS rmfreetype, which
unfortunately was shifted to OOo 3.1 target.

mod->cmc: is it correct that doc files do not even include this information, so
we therefore just take the current time?

I think you mentioned once sth. about new doc files, that they now include the
date/time, if this is the case, could this be added to the code?

(I am not sure I selected the appropriate subcomponent)

There are times, after editing a document and adding/removing a significant
amount of text, when a preexisting note no longer is in an appropriate location
in a Writer document and should be moved.

Right now, the only way to move a note is to select the character immediately
after the note's triangle insertion point/sub-caret (I don't know what the
proper term for it is) and then dragging that character to the spot you want the
note relocated to.

If the character cannot be used in the place you want to relocate the note to
(because it is not in a word in that vicinity) you must edit the note, copy the
contents to the clipboard, delete the note, create a new note in the desired
location, and paste the clipboard back into the note.

Having the ability to drag and drop the note's attached/insertion point without
affecting the text in the document would be a wonderful feature.

As discussed in the dev mailinglist:

In some cases it would be great to have an debugable version of an
OpenOffice.org production release (e.g 2.x.x) to clarify problems. When using
the API of OOo (for example within an extension or an external java program) and
OpenOffice.org crashes under misterious circumstances this could the best way to
isolate the problem and report issues with higher quality.

@tiberx I have tested this with both 3.0 Beta m3 and Dev300 m_25, connecting to
an Access MDB file. The scroll bar displays as expected in all cases I have run.

If you have some other information that would allow me to confirm this I will
close this as WORKSFORME.

->FL: After lots of discussion it is still unclear what should be implemented.
I propose to have sample texts in Arabic and Hebrew and show them depending on
the locale set for CTL within the same dialog.
The same should be done for CJK as this is the same problem.

After I confirmed this issue, my PC has lost the ability to run 3.0.0 beta 2.
Uninstall / Install always seems to be successful, but when I try to run OOo, I
always get the message "Das System kann die angegebene Datei nicht finden"
(Translated: "System can not find the stated file"). Deleting Profile does not
help. Anyhow I was able to reinstall and run m25

Multilayer concept and merging operation makes hotspots and too many I/O waste
and string ops at OO runtime, and cause bad performance.

When a slideshow is marked Slide Show > Slide Transition > Apply to Selected
Slides > Random Transition , the slide show will hang (in my experience it has
always been on the third slide) and not proceed.

A workaround is not to use Random Transition.

This implies to me that the generation of the random transition is in some way
faulty, perhaps in calling "No Transition" as an one of the transitions?

When you try to view a .doc file (from Word 2007) that has formatting changes

When importing/viewing .doc or .docx files from Microsoft Word 2007, some

whatever type of bullet was supposed to be there.

On Walter Sonius behalf, I forward his mail, to add furtheer information on
that issue :

  quote """
Hi I can't find a way anymore to add a post to the issue so I'll email you
directly:

Having a usb wireless keyboard on a mac was first not possible only via
logitech, when having a
windows keyboard on a mac, you just use the KEYBOARD modifiers in "System
Preferences" and do the
relinking, no Terminal hacking etc, just normal actions.

Here is a new scenario, I just put the modifier keys back to normal:
windowskey or alt + shift + ;then e <--gives a U or an E
ctrl + shift + ; then e <--CRASH

New Scenario: Apple Slimline Aluminium Keyboard, with newest firmware...
MODIFIER KEYS are set to normal,
CTRL + SHIFT + ; then e <--CRASH

Can you post this mail, except for my mail adress in the issue-post?

Cannot exit "JRE is Defective" error message on macro tabpage. The erroe happens
on two computers if I open object menu Tried uninstall/reinstall Java and OO.
Does not help!

It happens only after opening in object menu/macro tab for the equation objects
from the file originally created with MS World with equations created using MS
Equation Editor and not converted into OO format. The equations on double click
in OO will be correctly edited with MS Equation Editor from the MS office
installed on the same computer. I have printscreen bmp file with bug.

The bug cannot be reproduced with other objects, like pictures. It can be
reproduced only with equations from MS Equation Editor.

If the text cursor is in the middle of word, and you go to "Insert" menu and
select "Note", the spell checker will then treat the word as two separate words,
split on where the note was inserted.

For example, if I have the word "Discussion" and the text cursor is between the
"u" and "s" when I insert a note. The entire word will get the red squiggly
underline (because each portion isn't a recognized word). If I right click on
the word for spelling suggestions, I will get suggestions for the portion of the
word I happened to right-click on, either "Discu" or "ssion".

Yes, the implementation can be improved. But I think, that a solution with expm1
and log1p would be better than cutting the series. I have not yet compared it,
but calculating (1+r)^n-1 via expm1(n * log1p(r)) works for me.

Such would increase the accuracy in other extreme cases too. For example
RATE=1e-12, NPER=600, PV=-3000, FV=0 results in 4,9993660135E+000 but should
be 5.150250E+000 (as MuPad and Gnumeric calculate).

=PMT(4.567E-015;10;1000;0;0) is not OK. It returns -9,7058450071E+001 but it
should be -1,002512E+002.

It seems this phenomenon has been already fixed in the latest developer build
DEV300_m26 with the CWS cmcfixes47.

In the following method of sw/source/filter/ww8/ww8par6.cxx
void wwSectionManager::CreateSep(const long nTxtPos, bool /*bMustHaveBreak*/)

Revision 1.177 (OpenOffice_2_4_0)
aNewSection.maSep.fUnlocked = ReadBSprm(pSep, (bVer67 ? 139 : 0x3006), 0 );

Revision 1.177.46.2 (OpenOffice_2_4_1), for the issue 90306?
aNewSection.maSep.fUnlocked = eVer <= ww::eWW2 ? ReadBSprm(pSep, (eVer <=
ww::eWW7 ? 139 : 0x3006), 0 ) : 0;

Initially, the bug document (cond para without end notes with page count.odt)
does not grow in size, and simple cycles between
Page 1/41
Page 1/40
Page 1/29
but after about a minute or two does consistently start growing in size.

@walterav

If I read correctly, your configuration is not the usual configuration (you are
even using a PC's
keyboard)

What is the default behavior of the keys, without remap like you did ?

To verify, the most simple could be to rename OpenOffice.org-aqua in
~/Library/Application Support ,
and retry using a brand new configuration (waiting, I'd strongly suggest you to
use a real Apple
keyboard)

OpenOffice.org 2.4.1 when encountering a file that has both
conditionally-displayed content and a page count field is unable to maintain
cursor location in the document. The document jumps up and down in the UI,
interfering with user ability to edit or read the document.

Two sample files to be attached:
cond para without end notes or page count.odt does not display the bug.
cond para without end notes with page count.odt displays the bug. The only
difference between this document and the other is that page one has the page
count field inserted, followed by the word "pages."

Behavior of cond para without end notes or page count.odt (51.2 kb):
1. Open document in OOo 2.4.1.
2. After less than 30 seconds, note in lower left corner of the UI: Page 1/28.
3. Command-end to go to end of document.
4. Note in lower left corner of the UI: Page vi 28/28.

Behavior of cond para without end notes with page count.odt (52.2kb):

1. Open document in OOo 2.4.1.
2. After less than 30 seconds, note in lower left corner of the UI that the page
count does not stabilize:
Page 1/41
Page 1/40
Page 1/29
repeat cycle
eventually the page count starts climbing continuously
3. Command-end to go to end of document.
4. Note in lower left corner of the UI that the page count does not stabilize
and the UI display jumps back and forth between the end page and another page
earler in the document.
Page vi [climbing number]/[climbing number]
Page 14 [climbing number]/[climbing number]
Page 12 [climbing number]/[climbing number]

Workaround: Enter and maintain page count manually.

akkana wrote: I use the mousewheel to scroll down and continue proofreading.

I think, I have the same problem with my mouse, after I used the weel. I don't
know, why it happens, but sometimes after I only scrolled down with the wheel,
the window jumps back, where the cursor is. I'm not sure, if it's a problem with
refrehing the screen and have the cursor outside and used to scroll the wheel.

Rendering problem when importing Impress tables in Microsoft PowerPoint 2003

When I create a simple table in OpenOffice3.0b2 Impress (see attachment
oo3_tabellen_feature_test01.odp) and save it as a Mircosoft Powerpower 2003 file
(see attachment oo3_tabellen_feature_test01.ppt) and open it up in "Microsoft
Office PowerPoint 2003" or ("Microsoft Office PowerPoint Viewer 2003" ) the text
in the tables is not showing up correctly (see screenshot comparison
openOffice30b2_bug_renderig_tables.png)

Opening the file in Microsoft Office 2007 works fine.

The only other issues I found regarding PowerPoint and tables are
Issue 24582 and 59195 and seem only to cover import not export problems.

I connect to my server via IMAPS secure SMTP (ports 465 and 993) and have
configured OOo to do the same. When I hit "Test Settings", it responds that it
failed to establish a network connection or find the outgoing mail server (which
is on my LAN). I am using the FQDN of the server and cam ping the address from
the Mac and get a valid response.

Mac OS X 10.5.4, MacBook Pro.

When attempting to check for an update, the process initiates, then returns this
message:

Checking for an update failed.

My Internet access is working correctly (via LAN) on this system (MacBook Pro,
OS X 10.5.4).

Proxy (in OOo) is set to System; tried with None, same result.

Yes. You can CC yourself to that bug to track its progress. You are only
supposed to open a new bug when you encounter a new one yourself, not when you
read a web page that says the bug exists (because the information may not be
current). If it's still current, then it's likely that the bug has already been
reported so that you don't have to file a new one.

One thing I noticed is that opening a .sxc or .ods ODF spreadsheet the
preference for Calc has the option "Enable regular expressions in formulas" uner
"Calculate" checked (or maybe that is saved in the file?). Opening a .xls
spreadsheet that is never the case so I have to enable it always when I open a
.xls spreadsheet using regular expressions.

I became aware of this different behaviour when I switched back to using .xls
for a spreadsheet that I originally created in the OOo 1.x .sxc format. So I
guess this "feature" exists since the early 2.x versions when I started using
.xls instead of .ods

I don't know if checking this option causes problems with .xls spreadsheets but
if that is not the case I would suggest to use the same default preferences as
with ODF spreadsheets.

The formula for PMT (payment at end) is

[p(1+r)^n - f]r / ((1+r)^n-1) where

n = number of periods
p = principal (the capital sum borrowed)
f = the final balance owing after n periods
r = interest rate (fixed rate) per period

derived here:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/How_Tos/Calc:_Derivation_
of_Financial_Formulas#PMT

With extremely small values for r we get too close to divide by 0

Example:
=PMT(1E-016;10;1000;0;0) gives #VALUE!
Note that
=PMT(4.567E-015;10;1000;0;0) is OK - larger, but with more displayed digits -
so we have not run out of precision with the rate.

Excel has the same problem, giving #DIV/0!.

The solution may be to trap low values and apply another algorithm, also
provided on the linked page. rate=0 is trapped anyway.

This error will not arise in real life, so this should be low priority and I've
marked it enhancement rather than defect. It is bad to have a function that can
be beaten though, and there should be a record of the fact.

Since I haven't seen any progress of the vista file picker recently, here's my
suggestion. I'll post a patch, which will add the missing features. (see issue
90908 and others).

In addition, I made the following changes:
- I removed the autoextension check box, instead I let the file picker handle
the extension.
- I use IFileDialog::SetClientGuid(). The dialog will remember certain settings
and the last folder location, depending on this guid. I associated a number
GUIDs with the different template descriptions for the file picker. Different
template descriptions are used for different file tasks in the application.
Although not a perfect solution, e.g. the export file picker will remember its
settings independently of the regular Save As picker.

Of course these changes should be subject to discussion. Everything else should
be more less straightforward implementation of the missing stuff.

I hope that this will still go into 3.0.

Sorry, don't know how this works. But was/is Issue 5556 a valid bug and is it
being worked on? Do I continue to follow 5556 to see if/when it's
resolved/worked around?

Thanks.

Ha, small workaround:
this
X + newline Y
does not work, but this

X + {}newline Y

does. If you want to put newline before add {} after newline.

Note: this is technically not a valid bug report since the user has not even
used OOo to confirm the validity of an alleged bug.

That said, he is referring to this wikipedia article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenOffice.org_Calc

which refers to Issue 5556 about the said bug.

That means this is a duplicate report of Issue 5556.

*** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 5556 ***

Regina, actually, I don't do anything. Kinda mislead you. While I was
enthused to download OOo, I haven't done so because of the following criticism
in Wikipedia re OO0 Calc. At the bottom of the entry it states -

"OpenOffice.org Calc has been criticized for:

When editing a date, the date is displayed in US date format irrespective of
the users' Locale, which is surprising given its international aspirations.
Users can enter ISO 8601 dates, but may only edit them in another format."

I've checked other links re this issue and there are quite a few with the same
issue stymieing them.

That's why I'm choosing to hold off until it's fixed.

Were I to download it, my settings currently within Windows OS are:

Regional and Language Settings - English (Canada) - which has its date values
set to:

Short Date: 20 Jul 2008

Long Date: Sunday, 20 July 2008

Perhaps if I were running Linux there wouldn't be an issue?

I tried with OOo_3.0.0beta2_20080707_Win32Intel_install_wJRE_de.exe and now can
confirm that problem.
"C:\Programme\ooobeta2test\OpenOffice.org 3\program\soffice.exe" will not run, I
get an error messate "File not Found" after I tried to start OOo with a double
click on "soffice.exe". It seems that that problem only appears with localized
builds?!
