See a snapshot file for details. This phenomenon can be observed with 2.3.1, but cannot be seen with OOO300_m2. Reproduction: Prerequisites - A bugdoc which includes a special character u301C. - IPA font files version 001.000, which do not have a glyph of u301C. Steps 1. Open the bugdoc attached. 2. File Export as PDF. 3. Open it with a PDF viewer. Results, running on Linux: Version Result == = 2.3.1 A special character is wrongly drawn as another glyph which appears in the same line, prior to the special character. 2.4.1 No problem can be observed since the glyph level fallback system works well. DEV300_m14 soffice.bin sometimes crashes for SIGSEGV, segment violation when a similar bugdoc is exported into PDF format. Probably caused by another reason somewhere else. It seems that some area in a memory is polluted. It is said that the set of IPA font files of version 001.000 has some problems that let GhostScript malfunction. OOO300_m2 No problem can be observed since the glyph level fallback system seems to work well. Background: A special character encoded in Microsoft Codepage 932, Japanese, aka Shift JIS, has two different counterparts in Unicode for some historical reasons. Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) recommends that the character is equivalent to u301C, WAVE DASH while Microsoft maps the character to uFF5E, FULLWIDTH TILDE. For the reasons, UNIX variants offers two mapping tables for iconv to meet both requirements. (a) iconv -f SJIS -t UTF-8 maps the character to u301C. (b) iconv -f CP932 -t UTF-8 maps the character to uFF5E. u301C: http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U3000.pdf uFF5E: http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/UFF00.pdf Most Japanese font files have a glyph of uFF5E while a few Japanese font files include a glyph of u301C since most font files were originally delivered for Microsoft Windows before Unicode was introduced. From the beginning, the shape of the special character was same as that of uFF5E, not u301C. After the Unicode was introduced, JIS published recommendations on what character defined in JIS could be mapped to what code point in Unicode. Some mappings, about 10 characters, were mapped to its counterpart in Unicode in a somewhat doubtful way which differed from existing de-facto standard. INFORMATION-TECHNOLOGY PROMOTION AGENCY, JAPAN (IPA) released a software embedding Japanese TrueType font files under a certain license, for free of charge in 2004. IPA is an independent administrative institution. The font files were ipagp.ttf IPAPGothic ipag.ttfIPAGothic ipagui.ttf IPAUIGothic ipamp.ttf IPAPMincho ipam.ttfIPAMincho It is said that they have the same geometries as font files available in Microsoft Windows Japanese. The set of IPA font files has three versions. Version Released Download === === 002.03 Feb 2008 http://info.openlab.ipa.go.jp/ipafont/fontdata/IPAfont00203.zip 002.01 Oct 2007 http://info.openlab.ipa.go.jp/ipafont/fontdata/IPAfont00201.zip 001.000 Jul 2004 no longer officially available, but widely spread. IPA-fonts-001.000.zip is attached in this issue. The font files of version 001.000 have no glyph of u301C but uFF5E. The font files of version 002.03 have no glyph of u301C but uFF5E, either; The 002.03 does not have a glyph data of u301C; it, however, has a pointer to the glyph of uFF5E for the code point u301C. Potential Flaw: See a sample patch attached for details. That can be considered one of the causes of the phenomenon which is observed with 2.3.1. The glyph level fallback system in the version 2.3.1 does not work well or has not been implemented yet, the value of glyph number is expected to be determined before the method is called, but the value of it is set to zero because the

[framework-issues] [Issue 92845] Unicode Characters Display ed Incorrectly
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=92845 Issue #|92845 Summary|Unicode Characters Displayed Incorrectly Component|framework Version|OOo 3.0 Beta 2 Platform|All URL| OS/Version|FreeBSD Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|code Assigned to|tm Reported by|ondeaander --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Aug 17 13:56:53 + 2008 --- Unicode characters are mis-displayed, such that all characters appear as the same glyph (i.e. 'abcde' might appear as '1'). Results in OpenOffice 3.0.0 Beta being virtually unusable for Unicode text for some character sets. Occurs independent of font (assuming the font supports the Unicode range in use). Does not affect all Unicode ranges equally. Affects the 'Runic' characters very strongly (U+16A0 - U+16F0) - see attached document and screenshots. Also affects Russian Unicode text in certain cases: For example, when using a large font size (i.e. greater than approx. 32pt) and zooming in close, the text disappears (probably because the falsely displayed glyph happens to be a space). Did not explicitly test other Unicode ranges. Affects: OpenOffice.org 3.0.0 Beta (Writer, Calc, Draw, and Impress) on FreeBSD systems. Probably affects Linux systems and other users of X Windows. Does not affect Windows XP. Problem was not present in OpenOffice.org 2.x. Attached .zip file contains: Two True Type fonts which support the 'Runic' Unicode range (U+16A0 - U+16F0), an example document, and two screenshots of the example document. The example document requires that the attached fonts be installed on the system (or you may experiment with another True Type font which supports the aforementioned Unicode range, if available). The document contains two examples, each using a different font. Both runic and non-runic characters are typed in the same font, but only the runic characters are corrupted. In OOo 3.0.0 Beta, the mis-displayed text changes appearance if you (1) zoom in/out or (2) change the font size. In OOo 2.4, the text is correctly displayed all tested font sizes and zoom-levels. The first screenshot is of OpenOffice.org 2.4 correctly displaying the example document at 200% zoom. The second screenshot is of OpenOffice.org 3.0.0 Beta incorrectly displaying the example document at 200% zoom. Screenshots were obtained from OpenOffice.org 3.0.0 Beta, BEB300m3 (Build:9328), and the same problem has been observed in at least two earlier versions of 3.0.0 Beta. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. In OOO300 a Window appears with a dialog in it which allows one to pick a document type. Attempting to create a second instance (for creating a second instance of an office document type) by re-clicking the swriter desktop icon does not yield a new instance. Instead, one needs to use either File-New-Text Document or go through the Windows Start menu to locate the OOo entry and within that the appropriate document type. Assuming, that this behaviour is only planned for OOo300 I lowered the priority to P4, but thought to file an issue to not overlook this particular issue as it would be quite distracting for end-users who came to expect from clicking soffice icons to open new instances. [framework-issues] [Issue 84774] MAC and UNIX formatted tex t files open in Calc instead of Writer
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=84774 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Aug 17 19:39:09 + 2008 --- Additional experience: Starting Writer the other day brought up the OpenOffice.org Document Recovery dialog. (I don't remember the state at the last previous exit of Writer, so I don't question why that dialog appeared.) Clicking Next for a file and Recovery in progress yielded the Text Import dialog, which didn't say Calc but it looked like it was going to import into Calc, since a window within the dialog appeared to present a spreadsheet. The dialog promised a crash report tool, but when I exited Calc the result was that all of OOo exited, meaning Writer also had exited, and the exiting left me no crash report tool. While I understand that in recovery for Writer to know the file type might be a stretch, on the other hand defaulting to a non-Writer format also seems like a stretch. I mention this in this OOo Issue's context in case the cause is the same. Thanks. -- Nick - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=92042 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Aug 17 23:38:56 + 2008 --- Here is a partial patch for Kendall correlation. Since a column in OOo Calc can be up to 65536 elements, reasonable performance requires a non-straightforward implementation of the Kendall correlation algorithm. The straightforward implementation runs in O(N^2), this one runs in O(N log N). As I am not familiar with the code base as a whole, and setting up a proper build environment looks fairly difficult, I was not able to create a complete patch that integrates this function into the interpreter, or to test the integration of this function into OOo as a whole, but the core functionality for Kendall correlation is there. I would guess that from this point, integrating this functionality would be trivial for someone who is familiar with the code base and has a proper build environment set up already. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. One thousand should be 1000, not 1,000 One milion should be 100, not 1,000,000 But, on Draw, 1000s separaters are put automatically for a demention line. 1. Open Draw 2. Tools - Options - OpenOffice.org Draw - General - Settings -- Unit of measurement: Milimeter - Scale -- Drawing scale: 1:30 3. From Lines and Arrows tool bar, select Demention Line 4. Draw a demention line which is longer than 1 meter (1000 milimeters) 5. 1000s separator is automatically put, so it looks 1,000mm I think whether 1000s separators are put or not should be optional. If you right-click a demention line and select Dementions..., you can view Dementioning dialog. Here is my proposal. How about adding Put 1000s separators with a checkbox under Show meas. unit? We have a cool script that converts a article to az. That is perfect for OpenOffice.org - az OpenOffice.org. However the newly added translation uses a(z) as article what is common in Hungary UI translations when the one does not know about the next word's first character but we use a for product name. Please use a article for product name as we did before. An example of wrong article usage: svx source\options\optimprove.src 0 string RID_SVXPAGE_IMPROVEMENT STR_INFO50 hu Segítsen optimalizálni a(z) %PRODUCTNAME minőségét 2002-02-02 02:02:02 the correct one: svx source\options\optimprove.src 0 string RID_SVXPAGE_IMPROVEMENT STR_INFO50 hu Segítsen optimalizálni a %PRODUCTNAME minőségét 2002-02-02 02:02:02 Can you fix it for 3.0.
