- open the attached database document
- open the contained SRB-report for editing
- drag'n'drop the control in the report design near the border so the top border
is over the border. Now the Y-position gets negative this is not allowed.

@Wg, additional information. When you are writing the text in impress.

So this works -> empty page in impress -> paste -> you get the table.

But this does not
page with text, you are typing hello world (impress) -> paste -> you got the
text from the table.

pb: it is fixed by the new property tabpage ("Custom properties"). This page
displays all user-defined meta-data. Here you can delete these meta-data
manually. The "Reset" button does not clear any data but reset the last changes
to the saved information. This fix is part of cws doccustomproperties2

I tried to create a page layout which would have two columns and background
picture with larger margin on the outside of the page. This can be done with
page properties dialog, borders tab and "spacing to content". However if one
is using the headers and footers, then this fails. The spacing to content also
shrinks the header and footer as well and this is certainly not what I aimed
to do.

I put a thread on OO forums regarding this into the url.

I tried to select and copy the whole line, but it was doing only word by word.

To reproduce this issue,

type a line

>From the the end of the line, press "Shift" + "Apple" + "Left Arrow", it does
only word by word select, whereas it should have done the full line select.

When i do just "Apple" + "Left Arrow" it goes to the start of the line, so i
feel this is a bug, and is priority level 1 according to user conveniences.

I'm using a iMac with a Bluetooth Keyboard.

[sw-issues] Is it a Issue - definitely not a bug though

2008-11-23 Thread Balaji Ravindran
Hi All,

I'm using Open Office 3.0 for OSX.

I created a new writer document, and without saving it(doesn't matter
though) i went to properties.

File ---> Properties.

In the properties dialog box, where it displays the properties of the
document, in the first text box where it displays the document title, i
noticed that it was not editable, but it was not disabled,( the cursor was
blinking, but i was not able to edit anything there ).

I was wondering, if it was meant to be like that,

1. then why not disable the cursor from that text box - this is quite simple
to do.

2. At the same time as a better feature enhancement, why not make it in such
a way that, when we type/change something in that text box, it should do the
"Save As" feature.

Just a thought.

(Attached is the screenshot of the file.)

Thanks

Balaji R

Paragraph 'list' styles names 'Numbering 1', Numbering 2', ..., are very
misleading, because they are identical to List styles names. The built-in
'Numbering paragraph styles' are really built-in Numbered-paragraph styles and
should be named 'Numbered 1', Numbered 2',..., to avoid confusing newcomers.
'Numbering 1', Numbering 2', ... are 'real' List styles.

I found the default separator of the caption of an illustration is ":".
Is there a way to remember other character as the default separator?

Currently, when I want to insert a caption below a picture by , I have to change
the separator from : to . (or space) manually *every time*

Platform: windows XP + OO 3.00

I want to change the separator *permanently*
in the context menu (right-click on a copied picture -> Caption ...)

To reproduce error:

1) Format cells in column A as text
2) Enter

 A B
   1 314159 =MID(A1;4;1)
   2 ABCDEF =MID(A2;B1;1)

3) See:

 A B
   1 3141591
   2 ABCDEF Err:504

This works fine in Excel, displaying "A" in cell B2. Assume the problem is that
Calc will not treat numeric strings as numbers when function argument requires a
number. This is a severe defect - a spreadsheet should not be a strongly-typed.

(Also reported under issue 58183, but that issue is closed and may have nothing
in common with this except the Error 504.)

After a failed search, Writer asks: ...Do you want to continue at the beginning?
Reply Yes.
When search fails again, Writer asks the same question.
Why? It should realize that, by now, the whole document has been searched.

When adding a bookmark, the list of existing ones is alphabetical. Same in
Navigator. Good.
When selecting a bookmark as hyperlink target, the list is not alphabetical
--inconvenient. Apparently, it is ordered from first to last (issue 58358).

Another, possibly unrelated 504 error. To reproduce:

1) Format cells in column A as text
2) Enter

 A B
   1 314159 =MID(A1;4;1)
   2 ABCDEF =MID(A2;B1;1)

3) See:

 A B
   1 3141591
   2 ABCDEF Err:504

This works fine in Excel (with commas instead of semicolons in function
arguments - what's the point of this gratuitous incompatibility?)

Running OpenOffice 2.4.0 on Windows XP SP2.

b: Check style CommentChar: it's not hidden. Why?

As of OpenOffice 3.0, word count now reflects Microsoft Word's word count
feature. This is fantastic, but there are some unintended consequences.

First, the spellchecker continues to look at special-character-delimited words,
and not space-delimited words. (example: pai\'sa).

Second, double-clicking a word with a special character in it only selects that
portion of the word the mouse is over, not the entire space-delimited word.

If you define an autofilter that starts below the first row, choosing a Standard
Filter for a column will change the range and include all the rows from row 1.
Steps to reproduce :
-open the file AutoFilterBelow1stRow.ods
-In the filter for column C, choose one the proposed values : A for instance.
The filter works correctly. (see screenshot)
-In the filter for column C, choose All to reset it
-In the filter for column B, choose Standard Filter: the range selection is
wrong (see screenshot)

Insert an object, for example a star and name it 'star'.
Insert another object, for example a rectangle and do not name it.
Open the navigator and show all forms.
Double click on 'star'. Result the object is selected.
Double click on 'form 1' (which is the rectangle). The rectangle is not
selected.

Expected behavior: Double Click on the object in the navigator selects this
object in all cases.

When I paste a writer table into impress I get a table , not just text. Are you
sure that this is really a table you get from writer? Would it be possible to
attach the writer doc you use? Thanks.

The Slide pane jumps back to the currently selected slide, when I try to scroll
down or up the slide pane either by moving the scrollbar, pushing the up and
down buttons on the scrollbar, using the mouse scoll-wheel or when trying to
move a slide by moving the mouse to the upper or lower end of the slide pane.
Furthermore moving several slides at a time is not possible. Only one slide is
moved.
This does not happen to every slideshow. I can only reproduce the problem with
one file yet. I will append the file.
I guess it is because of the "larger" images.

Okay other Arch Linux users seems to experience it to. And I'm told that Arch
Linux does distribute a patched version of OpenOffice.org. I'll file the bug
there, though it seems unlikely that a distribution patch would cause this bug,
I think.

With file paths like: D:\Documents and Settings\Jørgen\Application
Data\OpenOffice.org\3\user\wordbook
D:\Documents and Settings\Kjærgaard\Application
Data\OpenOffice.org\3\user\wordbook
or D:\Documents and Settings\Ã…berg\Application
Data\OpenOffice.org\3\user\wordbook, it is not possible to add words to user
dictionaries, or to create user dictonaries. I also think that other Danish
characters like å, Ø and Æ will cause OOo to fail creating user dictionaries.

ø U+00F8 LATIN SMALL LETTER O WITH STROKE
æ U+00E6 LATIN SMALL LETTER AE
Ã… U+00C5 LATIN CAPITAL LETTER A WITH RING ABOVE

I have tested this with the Danish and the English version of OOo 3.0.0 Build
9358 for Windows.
I have tested with different user names. With one of the tree letters mentioned
above in the file path, Ooo cannot create user dictionaries and it is therefore
not possible to add words to user dictionaries.

To reproduce the bug: Create a new user of your computer. Give the account a
name containing one of the above mentioned characters. Install OpenOffice.org
version 3.0.0 Open a text document, write and misspell a word. Try to add the
word to a user dictionary. Try to create a user dictionary.

After using the Find/Replace window, Find/Replace window will not close. When
the "Close" button or "X" button are clicked the Find/Replace window does not
close it only creates another Find/Replace window so that you now have 2
Find/Replace windows open.

The only way to get the Find/Replace windows to close is to Close the document
you are working on completely

I have recently had some OOo crashes. I cannot figure out why, they just
happend.
Twice while moving an PNG-Image with transparancy in Impress causing all OOo
applications to crash. But I cannot force the program to crash, it just happens
sometimes ...
But that is not the issue im am talking about, since there are other occasions
when i am facing the very same problem, namely:
After those crashes all my data (which was not saved) is lost.

OOo crashes, asks me if I want to store the files, I confirm, restart OOo, OOo
asks my, if it should restore the files, I confirm, but the files are at the
state, at which I saved them the last time manually. All the other information
is lost. Even the information, that should have been stored via tools - options
- load/save - general - save autorestoringinfo every x Minutes ("Speichern von
AutoWiederherstellungsinfo alle x Minuten").
Therefore this feature is currently useless to me. Since it happened to me
several times now, it is somewhat annoying ...

Proposal: reintroduce AutoSave of files (rather than saving restorage info)

Can confirm on OOo 3.0 on linux, the 'Sound' field is empty, but the sound file
plays. Happens with native .odp files and also .pps files. Selecting the field
and choosing 'other sound...' shows the file chooser. Selecting the original wav
file which was formerly used to make this presentation doesn't even work, it
says 'xxx is not a valid sound file'. Very strange. The file can be played in
the Tools/Media player.

There is. Impress and Writer are suppossed to be the same same suite, yet they
are so different.

Have a look at the tables -- do they look the same for you in presentation and
in writer document? Absolutely no, and they should!

So my wish is this -- one app: impresswriter, you need presentation, ok, you
run it in presentation mode, you need text, you run it in text-doc mode. This
way, no matter what you do you have full set of features, and unified user
interface.

Consistent UI matters. And now it is a mess. The same feature in Writer looks
like this, in impress it looks like that.

Please reconsider and reopen this report.

Hi. The sound in the first example presentation is in .wav files encoded with
mp3. Do you have Java and the JMF plugin and the mp3 plugin installed?
(ttp://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/desktop/media/jmf/index.jsp) I think
that is used for sound playback in OOo Impress. I have that, but I am still
struggling to make it work. I am not 100% sure the plugin is installed
correctly, but the Media Player in Impress can play my mp3 files.
But not your file. IT throws an error:

Unable to handle format: mpeglayer3, 8000.0 Hz, 16-bit, Mono, LittleEndian,
Signed, 1000.0 frame rate, FrameSize=8 bits
Failed to realize: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Error: Unable to realize [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Failed to realize: input media not supported: mpeglayer3 audio

Even though mp3 format is supported by my installation. The only thing I can see
is that it is 8Khz format, which the mp3 plugin doesn't list as supported (in
jmfregistry).

The second presentation plays fine. I am using OOo 3 on linux.

@regina
I'm using OOo3 on Arch Linux. Is far as I know, Arch Linux rarely customize the
packages it provides. They should be installed just like the original vendor
distributes them. However I've asked other Arch Linux users if they can confirm
the bug. As soon as someone replies I'll head back here.

The same topic on the Arch Linux user forums

No, I haven't had this problem recently. I'm now using 3.0 on RHEL. I haven't
been using as many large spreadsheets recently, though, so it's possible I just
haven't triggered it. I'd suggest keeping this issue open at a very low-priority
for a while longer. If I see the issue again, I'll post here.

I cannot confirm the behavior. The heading paragraph is always shown in the

Do you use an original OOo or do you use an OOo version from your Linux

Do you use the default document template?

table has fancy background color with blank (no) template

IMHO the table theme should match the template the user picked up. But with no
template the background color should be none -- i.e. white. Yet, when I insert
table into presentation (based on no template) I get fancy shadows of blue.

It would be ok, if my template was "blue colors" or something, but blank means
blank. Please respect the user choice.

> How do you insert the table?

Via button in the toolbar.

> How do you select the cells?

Shift+down, down, down...

> Do you have access to another PC to test it there?

Yes, I can do it.

> Do you use an OOo version from your Linux distributor?

Yes.

Btw. when I select several (!) cells and then I change the font size, let's
say to 40 (from 20), I see 40, but the font is still 20, I deselect rows and
then I see in editbox value 20.

As the summary indicates heading that are given an numbering style e.g. 5
dissappears in the Navigator's headline list. To replicate do following.
* Create a document
* Type "Headline 1", "headline 2" and "headline 3" on three seperated lines
* Give each line a heading format/style/typography accordingly
* Check navigator and verify the nested order
* Edit the Heading 2 style, add Numbering 5 as its numbering style
* Save the style and open navigator. Headline 2 dissappeared.

I've been trying for a while and haven't succeeded making Headline 2 reappear in
the Navigator. Setting the numbering of Heading 2 style to "none", didn't solve
the issue.
