So the decision not to activate the patch was right. I don't know if the users
of the go-oo.o build prefer new features over product quality, I don't believe
our users will do it.

We have reported the bug to the go-oo.o guys at the OOoCon in Bejing last year,

How to reproduce it
1 Create an Writer doc with OOo3.1 and save it as FieldsAuthor.odt
2 Open the file created at step 1 with DEV300m51
3 In DEV300m51, Insert - Fields - Other, Fields dialog opens, switch to 
  Document tab, Type:Author, Select: Name, OK

Result
Insert the Author of DEV300m51, but not user data in OOo3.1

Expectation
should insert the Author of OOo3.1

According to help doc
Author:
Inserts the name of the user who first saved the document. 
To view the name of the author, choose File - Properties, click the General tab,
and then look at the Created line. The name of the author is appended to the
Created line only if the Apply user data check box is selected.

Note
In Drawing and Impress, Insert - Fields - Author, insert user data from
DEV300m51, it is the same as Writer (Insert - Fields - Other, Fields dialog

Hi naoyuki,

Please consider the localization of somewhere where use this setting. For
example, in the note.

Seems the display of the author are not localized in the note. So if you
localize this options setting, the display of author in notes need localized. or
it will display family name behind, which is not suitable for us Asians.

Hebrew is usually written without diacritics. However, sometimes the diacritics
are written as special marks located within, above, or below consonants. The
diacritics are represented internally as separate Unicode characters. Hebrew
dictionaries check for words without diacritics and will continue to do so for
the foreseeable future.

This patch filters the diacritics out of a word, before spellchecking it.
(Using breakiterator is not appropriate, since we don't want word-breaking at
the diacritics)

I don't know whether this functionality is needed for other languages as well,
perhaps Arabic or Persian, or maybe some LTR languages. The patch is written in
a generalized way, so that adding a language is fairly easy:

1) add another "case LANGUAGE_WHATEVER" to the "switch (nLanguage)" statement,
and create a string with the diacritics to be skipped 

2) add "|| nLanguage == LANGUAGE_WHATEVER" to the assignments of the boolean
variables

Another file corrupted.  Perhaps if we don't know the cause, we should issue an 
alert bulletin to all users that the excel format frequently corrupts files so 
they can no longer see any data.  I don't know why this is happening with this 
build of the 3.0 version.  Never had any problems up until now. To say that the 
fix is just to save in ODF format is very myopic.  This issue needs to be fixed 
because if Open Office cannot reliably communicate with the greater world of 
MicroSoft Office, then this product is doomed!

In Writer, the inserted 'Note' by Insert->Note shows the author name in it.
The order of First and Last names is fixed, but it needs to be dependent on
user's locale.
In zh_CN, zh_TW, ja, ko locales, it should be Last name First name order.

complaining about this. The critical thing about this bug is that you never ever
can unlock a section in a word document after it has been processed by go-oo

Hi blueice7 and jeongkyu, could you please revert the translation for
"First/Last name/Initials"?
This issue will be solved by issue 103200 (thanks bluewarf for providing patch!)
and new message "Last/First names/Initials" will be introduced for 3.2 
localization.
Consequently "First/Last name/Initails" will not be used for 3.2 option dialog
in CCJK locales , so reverting is not so critical , but problematic translation
should be corrected anyway.
When you finished the reverting, please add comments to this issue. Thanks!

Please consider the localization of somewhere where use this setting. For
example, in the note.

Seems the display of the author are not localized in the note. So if you
localize this options setting, the display of author in notes need localized. or
it will display family name behind, which is not suitable for us Asians.

Some glyphs in a PDF export are displaced with Burmese text using the Padauk 
font.

The fix for i100522 uses an abs to fix the problem with 180 degree rotated text.
This assumes that the glyphs are strictly in left to right order. However, the
abs also takes affect when you have a negative advance between two glyphs with
zero rotation causing incorrect positioning. A better fix would be to invert the
sign of the correction only in the case where the angle is really 180 (PI).

When trying to save any OOo spreadsheet document (even a new blank one) in 
either one of MS Excel 2003 XML (.xml), OpenDocument Spreadsheet flat XML 
(.fods), or Unified Office Format spreadsheet format (.uos), the following

when cursor moves to an hyperlink, the icon is a
moving-hand, but not a pointing-hand. I can't tell which finger is
pointing to the target. This confuses user a lot especially in calc.

I work with tables, alot, when I type in a table, and move away from the
location of the blinking icon, in less than 3 - 4 seconds, the screen moves back
to the location of the table. So if I was to copy something from a table, and
move to another page, as soon as I stop to a second location, the document
scrolls back, and starts to flash at the previous location.
Is there a fix for this?

In the version of the patch we received the protected section feature was broken
by the new code. I wonder why someone integrates a fix with a half-done feature
and breaks another very important feature with it, but anyway, it's not like I
want to do it.

I don't know if the problem with protected sections was fixed in the build you
mentioned. I'm still waiting for an answer from flr.

In Draw 3.0.1 on Debian when I perform a drag action it is by default 
constrained.

I mean: moves are constrained to horizontal/vertical, resizes are constrained to
keeping the aspect ratio. 

When I want to draw a rectangle it is constrained to a square, and so on.

To do unconstrained drags I need to use shift-drag.

Under Windows this behavior is opposite. Using shift then switches to the
constrained action.

Using both platforms this behavior is confusing to me. Can a select the Windows
behavior under Linux?

This is an issue for non-windows users.  On Linux you have to modify your
LC_TIME settings to get the date formats in a way you prefer.  Not the best
approach but if OOo doesn't use the locale format that is on the account/system,
then it would be better to be able to set the default format within the
application properties.

In a multi-user setting where users set up their home accounts with different
locale settings, it may be necessary to look at the individual user locale
settings instead of the system wide settings.  Again, setting the locale
settings within the application make this easier.

There is no such thing as a standardised ASCII character set for anything with a
codepoint > 127 (that's why Unicode had to be invented)

If you want to exchange documents reliably, use UTF-8. OO.o is interpreting your

Dear OpenOffice team,

I have created Crash.odt and NoCrash.odt by C# programming.
Both files have no macro and toolbar.

Crash.odt is crashing when we close the document, but NoCrash.odt is closing
without crashing.

Crash.odt and NoCrash.odt are similar, except Crash.odt has one more word 
(node).
We found crashing at this point.

if we remove any single word(node) from Crash.odt, it will close without crash.

You would think, based on the "install_en-US.dmg," that it would be an English

Tables in impress is a new feature added in OOo 3.0. OOo 2.4 does not know about
this feature. If OOo 2.4 loads a document from OOo 3.0 with tables it displays a
static displacement image of the table. When OOo 2.4 saves such documents, the
original table feature is lost and only the replacement image is left.

If you work with features that are added on the OOo 3.0 code line, please be
careful to only edit such documents with OOo 3.0 and newer versions. It is
technically not possible that OOo 2.x deals with features it does not know 
about.

I get the problem now. It has nothing to do with manual scaling, but it comes
along when using values near zero for the y-axis. Then the chart wall is drawn
on a wrong position.
In your case, change the values to E-009 size and you will see correct charts.

This problem is known already traced in issue 99915.

That way this bug can't be reproduced. Starting OOo from the terminal as you
recommended no key presses appear in the OOo window. Whatever had the focus
before clicking into OOo window gets the key events. There is no menu, so the
submenu crash also can't be generated. Opening documents, selecting and pasting
clipboard works fine. Have to end the program after closing the window using
Ctrl-C. But no crash as I can't type ...

Thought about writing some AppleScript that sends key presses, but am not sure
if that would help reproducing the crash. Do you have a better idea?

Following a crash in the new 3.1, the recovery system did not activate.  Opening
Oo again just opened it up as though nothing had happened.  There were no error
messages to report.
The crash recovery has always worked flawlessly for me in previous versions. 
Could be a fluke, a coincidence that the first time it fails is the first day I
use this version, but if others report similar it may be a problem.

On pasting from clipboard, only the used cell styles are created in the Calc
document. On reepeated pasting, existing cell styles keep unmodified (equal
behaviour as pasting Calc->Calc).

Also I tested the same file on 3 Computers (2 X86_64 and one X86) the file was
created originally on the ubuntu 9.04 X86, then it was opened on the ubuntu
8.10s X86_64s and then back at the 9.04 x86, in all of them the tables where
unable to be edited.

working in impress (2.4 and 3.01) ubuntu (8.10 and 9.04) in a x86, I inserted
several tables and write on them just fine, in different slides, saved the file
(odp) and went home. There I opened the file on a x86_64 and when I tried to
edit the information inside of it, I was not allowed since the table became
static (as if it was just a regular text bod) and the only edition that was
allowed ended as regular text over whatever lay below it (the actual table
information), it won't recognize the table's columns nor lines.
The only way to change the table was to insert a new one and then rewrite the
hole content with the corrections.

Works well in DEV_300_m51, too (UI and doc Language = EN_US, platform Solaris
Sparc): As soon as the "r" in "Ther" is deleted, the red wavy line vanishes as
expected.

Fixed in cws os133. 
The key combinations shift+ctrl+a activates the anchor of objects. This makes it
possible to move the anchor with the cursor keys.
Additionally the selection of graphic anchors is also possible now. I don't know
why it was only enabled for form controls, drawings and text frames.
