However, if the program seems to be stuck and the tool does not start
automatically, you can start the tool manually:
Go to the {office_install_path}\ program folder and start the crashrep.exe file.
After OpenOffice crashed, neither automatic nor manual start of the error
report
tool worked as documented, therefore this is a bug. I re-installed OpenOffice,
and manual start still did not work. I have not reproduced the original crash
for the sake of testing automatic start of the error reporting tool.

Clicking on calc: Immediately crash. Opening writer, typing one (!) letter: works fine. Typing a second letter: Boom! Opening writer, simultaneously hacking on many keys: All chars appear fine. Wait a few seconds, type any key: crash. Crash on pure letters/numbers mostly, not on Shortcuts like Command-V, Shift-Cursor-left or similar. Never at the first letter, mostly the second, sometimes later. Crash is different: The tests before had some seconds "beachball", then crash while some thread remains, OOo has to be closed by kill. In m45 the first typed char needs two seconds. But the char which produces the crash does that immediately, and the OOo process doesn't stay. On a different computer (which probably isn't affected by this bug anyway) using 10.5 no crash occurs with m45. Don't assume the calc crash is related to the phenomenon of this task, suggest to ignore it. But the crash in writer probably is the same. However, with the correct key-strokes, all the data re-appears. History: Trying to create page of labels. Page 1 has a table (TABLE A) of 3 columns, 7 rows. Page 2 has two columns, each the same size as the 1st & 3rd columns of TABLE A. (created Page 2 because the sub-tables I was trying to place into TABLE A kept disappearing). Built tables B and C on page 2. Table B & C each had a one-line paragraph immediately preceding them. Copied the one-line paragraph and table B from Page 2 and pasted into Table A column 1, row 1. Then pasted into column 1 row 2, row 3 etc. Copied the one-line paragraph and Table C from Page 2 and pasted into Table A column 3 row 1, then row 2, etc. down the page. Saved. Printed. All good. Closed OO. Went to START, Documents, selected the just saved odt file and opened. Table A, column 1 only contained the one-line paragraph - no table. Column 3 contained the one-line paragraph and the table - exactly as it had been when I saved the document. Page 2 was the same as it was when I saved it. Difference between Column 1 and 3: Table B (which was in each cell in Table A, column 1) was pushing the boundaries of the cell. With the paragraph mark afer the table (which I could not get rid of), the height of Table B was probably greater than the height of the row. Table C was the same width but contained fewer rows and therefore fit with plenty of room left over. When I turned on View Non-Printing Characters, I could see the top of the Paragraph Mark below the Table Bs in Column 1 of Table A. The bottom part of the Paragraph Mark was hidden. More info: I copied Table B from Page 2 and pasted it at the end of the one line paragraph in Table A column 1 row 1. First cell of Table B appeared in Table A Col 1 Row 1. 2nd cell of Table B appeared in Table A Col 2 Row 1. 3rd cell appeared in Table A Col3 Row 1, etc. Did a CTRL-Z and Table A appeared as it was when I saved the document - all the cells in Table A Column 1 were restored. I only pasted into one cell but the CTRL-Z not only undid the Paste but also "brought back" all the other missing cells. So the data but still have been there but was not appearing on the screen. To further verify that the data was there but just not visible, I did a Find & Replace for one of the words in Table B. Find found something but I could not see it. Hit the Find button several times and it moved on down the page stopping the correct number of times (once per missing sub-table). Just found an easier way to make the missing tables re-appear. Moved the mouse to the top of Table A, column 1 until the down arrow appeared. L-clicked to select the entire column. All that was showing were the one-line paragraphs. Hit the Delete key. we're working on a project for promoting the use of the new (smartcard and
certificate based) Spanish National ID Card (called DNIe) on Open Source
environments. The project is promoted by CENATIC, a working group of Spanish
public administration organisms (Spanish Ministry of Industry and some local and
regional governments among others) and some private corporations (Atos Origin
Spain, Sun Microsystems Spain, etc.).
Within the scope of our project, we've found a few interoperability problems
between the DNIe and OpenOffice.org (OOo). I'll try to describe the problem and
how we're trying to fix it (you can find our patch at the end of this
description):
Problem description:
When parsing RFC 2253 DN's for showing the available certificates for signing
the current document to the user, OOo does the tokenizer directly using the ','
character as separator, but the Spanish National ID Card (smartcard-based) has
certificates with their principals according to the following format:
CN="NAME SURNAME1, SURNAME2
(CERTUSE)",givenNAME=NAME,SN=SURNAME,serialNumber=...
So, instead of showing the Common Name as:
"NAME SURNAME1, SURNAME2 (CERTUSE)"
OOo shows:
"NAME SURNAME1
Because the ',' between SURNAME1 and SURNAME2 is interpreted as token separator.
The bug is critical, since there are two certificates on the Spanish ID card,
one for digital signature and the other for authentication, with CNs as:
"NAME SURNAME1, SURNAME2 (SIGNATURE)"
"NAME SURNAME1, SURNAME2 (AUTHENTICATION)"
But OOs shows them as:
"NAME SURNAME1
"NAME SURNAME1
That is, with the same description for both certificates, which leads users to
confusion, because you cannot identify which certificate is for signing and
which is for authentication.
Our Fix:
Now, ',' characters enclosed between a pair of '"' characters are not
interpreted as token separators.
We've changed only the "String GetContentPart( const String& _rRawString )"
method of the OOO310_m11/xmlsecurity/source/dialogs/resourcemanager.cxx file,
but not the other variants (there's at least another variant that allows to
choose which RDN to retrieve, "String GetContentPart( const String& _rRawString,
const String& _rPartId )"), mainly because only the changed one was used for
showing certificate descriptions (CNs) to the users.
We've contacted Peng Chandler (author of the patched code), and although he
finds the patch right, since he's no longer involved on OOo development he
suggested we should send the patch and bug description to OOo directly.

In OpenOffice Writer 3.0, one can create a Bullet List (via direct Formatting) and then mark the rows and define a new Paragraph Style on the Selection. After that, it is possible to define an indentation in the Paragraph Style that will be used in the List.
