[sw-issues] [Issue 81097] pdf export - selection of text coding (CMYK or RGB)
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=81097 --- Additional comments from ir...@openoffice.org Sat Aug 15 08:54:00 + 2009 --- Inside a PDF, the RGB / CMYK / Gery color space is saved as an ICC profile. Usually RGB=sRGB IEC61966-2.1; CMYK=U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2; Grey=Gray Gamma 2.2 At least, that's what Adobe Acrobat does. OOo does not use anything like the ICC (International Color Consortium) standards. It only uses RGB values, which is not great since any RGB value may look different on different display devices (especially comparing screen with printer). See Issue 18674 I don't think anything like this will be possible until the whole color system gets revamped to use the ICC XYZ color space with profile matching instead. Nearly all graphical programs use this method (at least all professional quality programs). Not many word processors though, but it shouldn't be difficult if the color space is introduced to have the same functionality throughout OOo. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Each of the texts has a spacing to borders set to 0.00cm and then aligned to the rectangle below. The 2 lines below that is split into 2 text objects since the space next to each character varies between characters. This is not the case in other programs (e.g. Scribus) which aligns the actual character to the specified side of the text box. So an align of a multi-line text box aligns all the characters correctly. This would be wonderful! It's got my vote! I just think a tabbed interface may look better in the actual titlebar (maybe on the right, just left of the minimize, maximize, close buttons). But then again, this may be too different from what people are used to in FF. FF's tabs work so easily, can be understood so quickly, as to be a no-brainer. It shouldn't even be a query on if this can be implemented (i.e. FEATURE REQUEST). It should be a REQUIREMENT! BTW, wouldn't it be nice to then also add something like the tab addons in FF. E.g. [graphics-issues] [Issue 20819] add polynomial regression type
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=20819 --- Additional comments from hedleyro...@openoffice.org Sat Aug 15 11:02:25 + 2009 --- I absolutely need polynomial fits for my engineering analyses, most recently to display device repeatability during temperature cycling. For this case, I need access to the polynomial, as I subtracted the polynomial from the data to produce a graph of the cyclic errors. It's been suggested I could write a programme to create polynomial fits - and in principle I could. But if it really is a job that can be done by a user in a sensible time-scale, why is it taking so long to find its way into OpenOffice? So, in spite of everything, it's back to EXCEL. BTW, I'd really like to be able to use minimax algorithms instead of regression. It would also be good to be able to choose the weighting that I apply to the fit (for example data density versus uniform along the line). But the regression technique used by EXCEL does the job (with only a modicum of poet-adjustment), so I'll happily settle for that. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Ideally, it would use ISO 3166-1 codes to reference counties (e.g. DE for GErmany and US for USA) and ISO 3166-2 codes to reference regions (e.g. DE-SN for German Saxony or US-TN for USA Tennessee) and use other GNU projects to draw the maps (e.g. Earth3D or Marble). The world, counties or zoomed regions could be colored according to the Y-values. Example 1: highlight one country http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ commons/7/78/People's_Republic_of_China_(orthographic_projection).svg Example 2: show population density within one country http:// upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/74/ Bevoelkerungsdichte_Chinesischer_Provinzen.png Of course, this wish is not top priority but maybe a great value for v4.0. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. See the attached screenshot and testcase. In testcase start for example at 160% zoom and begin to zoom-out. You'll see that the overline element is jumping over the element below it (I mean the distance between both elements changes notably across zoom levels), and at some zoom levels, they overlap, for example 155%, 135%, 115%, 85%, 75%. Something similar happens with the bar element, but only al 75% zoom. This also happens with formulas inserted in a Writer document. I tested with OpenSymbol v1.21 (you can get it in issue 99047), 1280x800 (Vista) and 1024x768 (XP SP2) resolutions and subpixel rendering on. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I have some master files which contain large tables of data in multiple tabs. I have other spreadsheets which perform LOOKUP functions against these master spreadsheets. They have always worked properly - Until I upgraded to OpenDoc 3.1! I have several different examples where this is happening. All my files are on my network, and I can prove it is an OpenDoc 3.1 issue, because when I open the exact same files from my other computers which have older versions of OpenDoc, they update the cells correctly! So to summarize... 1. With Open Doc 3.1 2. If you have a master spreadsheet containing data on MULTIPLE tabs 3. And from a separate spreadsheet you use the LOOKUP function to find values from that master spreadsheet, the values that come from the first tab of the master appear to work correctly, but values that are supposed to come from the 2nd, 3rd, etc tabs often are not correct. More unfortunately you do not get an error, but rather the system pulls values from the wrong tab! This obviously has big implications! 4. When I load the same files from an older version of OpenDoc, all works correctly. I can provide separately copies of my spreadsheets if you wish, but they do contain sensitive information, and of course the LOOKUP functions include file path names that will need to be changed on your end. Let me know. Thanks...Chris - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. If this is the pledge for having a (NEW) parameter in these features for finding exact match, which returns a N/A if it does not exist, that is okay, and welcome. But touching the default behaviour is not welcome. Bytheway: The example is not that serious, as it consists only of descrete values of strings. But very offen these functions are used to group values, like group of 1 2 3 4 5 and what is the indexed value for 1,25 And bytheway: since years I worry about the wrong searchorder in all these functions: Example: Having a telephonebook and looking for B gives should give the first of the B's, not the last of the As like in OO.o, but that is another story Martin - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. In the case of the first paragraph there is no page break and then no page style applied. You have to apply the page style you want for the first page by using styles and formatting (F11). From a word processor good practices point of view, I think there is no good reason to have an Heading_1 style paragraph as first paragraph, other than for a document which is part of a master document. So, necessarily, you have something before the first heading 1 paragraph, and page break with page style works as expected. You can overline and underline it too. But AFAIK there is no way to enclose an element in a box, I mean to draw a rectagle outline around it. An ugly workaround is to use: overline underline abs {your_elements} or (even uglier): overline underline left lline {your_elements} right rline If you're working in Writer, as another workaround which is not always applicable, you can separate the part you want to enclose in a new formula object, set a border around it, and then continue you formula in another formula object. But this is not a good solution, especially when you're working with very complex formulas, because you have to split your formula and besides that you have to deal with alignment problems. I don't know if this feature would requiere any change in the file format. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 14224] Frame caption positioned w rongly

When you click on a frame and then choose Insert-Caption, it asks whether you want it above or below. I think this implies that the caption should go either above or below the frame; not inside the frame. In many technical documents, the typical format is to put a box around a diagram and then put some form of numbered figure caption under the box. This seems to be impossible in OOwriter. (Impossible, without importing the picture... suppose I want to draw it inline within the frame). Go to styles and formatting window (F11) : On whatever style you put the mouse on : right mouse = modify indents and spacing, before text = 1 after text = 1 outline and numbering = numbering style = change to List1 = OK Now, go back to the styles and formatting window : On that same style, right mouse = modify outline and numbering = numbering style = change to List2 = OK you will find the indent got inadvertly reset back to 0 - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
