I have the same problem. I've tried to change the odbc driver with the latest
(july 20th) but nothing changed. I have also tried to use ODBCng driver from
commandprompt inc but it is not in the list of drivers available (in the
registry it has a new entry, not the same of others ODBC drivers and the key 
has no settings).

I checked "Terms.xlsx" with "Ooo 3.1.0 WIN XP multilingual version German UI
activated  [OOO310m11 (Build 9399)]" and can confirm the reported effect. My OOo
showed 2 decimals in A6, to decimals is setting for most of my CALC documents
(and may be OOo CALC default?)

Excel Viewer 12.0.6334.500 MSO 12.0.6333.5000 shows 9 decimals.

It seems that OOo uses the settings that have been inserted in Menu 'Tools ->
Options -> OOo Calc -> Calculate -> Decimal places' the last time, may be
because there is no other information in "Terms.xlsx"?

Steps to reproduce:
0. Dwonload and unpack "TestKit.zip"
1. Open "master3.ods"
2. In menu 'Tools -> Options -> OOo Calc -> Calculate -> Decimal places' 
   modify entry from 3 to 4
3. Save document
4. Click "Link" to open "Terms1.xlsx"
   A6 will be shown with 4 decimals
11. Open "master7.ods"
12. In menu 'Tools -> Options -> OOo Calc -> Calculate -> Decimal places' 
   modify entry from 7 to 6
13. Save document
14. Click "Link" to open "Terms6.xlsx"
   A6 will be shown with 6 decimals

My knowledge is too poor to decide whether "Terms.xlsx" contains useful
information concerning desired decimal places for cell A6, which should be used
by OOo, or whether the current way OOo decides number of decimal places is the
only way that can be handled (OOo can't know anything concerning an unknown
user's EXCEL settings).
Yo can see this using my "TestKit.zip", what contains 2 OOo documents with links
to "Terms1.xlsx" and "Terms1.xlsx", what are identical copies of "Terms.xlsx".

If No. of decimal places is important, user should have used cell formattings?!

Despite the presence of OpenType, there are still a hell of a lot of Type1 fonts
out there in daily use, a huge investment by a lot of people.  One doesn't throw
away a multi-thousand dollar investment just because Adobe declares OpenType to
have "obsoleted" Type1.  Can this please be fixed?  I used my two votes for this
issue.

Hi Eike,
Actually, the OOo locale data in xml files offer various patterns, for example,
DD/MM/YY for date text or HH:MM:SS for time text, which can get by OOo APIs
easily. These patterns could be used as parameters by icu to output formatted
text in accordance with given locale. And I think this solution would not lost
more fine grained format or pattern control of OOo. Now our work begins with
replacing date/time formatting with icu.:) 
I will creat a CWS as soon as possible.

In Y Axis dialog - Positioning - Place labels, there are four list items:
near axis, near axis (other side), outside start, or outside end.

'near axis' is translated into 靠近轴；
'near axis (other side)' is translated into 靠近轴（其他边）；
IMO， I think it is not fitting.
'near axis' is translated into 靠近轴之外；
'near axis (other side)' is translated into 靠近轴之内；

May be there is other appropriate translations.

OK, scratch that, make that *any* Type1 font I try gets turned into garbage in
the exported PDF file.  The "DIN-Medium" in the screenshot was actually
TrueType, sorry about that.  Trying other Type1 fonts ("Frutiger 57 Condensed",
"Legacy Sans") resulted in the same garbage as with "Olympian".

On Mac OS X 10.5.8, with the test build
OOo_3.2.0_090820_MacOSXIntel_install.dmg, I can generate a PDF that subsets the
OTF-CFF fonts, and it appears that their ligatures are preserved.  However, full
justification appears to be disabled or faulty, not only with the OTF fonts, but
any font (tested OTF/CFF, TrueType, and Type1.)  Also, certain Type1 fonts
(e.g., "Olympian") are output in the PDF as garbage (see attachment).

I'm getting same problem on 3.1.0. When I save and then close file and and try
to open it again I get message the object can not be accessed due to
insufiecient user rights. (Linux Fedoar) User rights are ok ! It happen just
with OO version 3 not older ones. But I see no lock file and I also do not have

printing a PDF.

I have recently switched over to Linux for my netbook OS, drawn by the open
source ideology and the promise of an open source equivalent to Microsoft Word.

While Open Office Writer does an admirable job in many ways, the lack of normal
view is a fundamental, deal-breaking flaw. As others have already pointed out,
being able to focus solely on the document at hand is crucial, particularly when
dealing with longer formate creative work.

Moreover, given the reality of netbook screen space, page breaks and top/bottom
margins end up occupying a ridiculous amount of the available screen. Yes, you
can scroll, but to do so effectively takes you out of the "flow" of the work.

I was at first shocked that OpenOffice lacked such a basic and crucial
functionality, but then again, not everyone writes hundred+ page documents on a
regular basis. That said, I am excited that a forum exists to vote for its
inclusion in future revisions. This is a great issue to vote for and, if fixed,
a great fulfillment of the promise of open source.

(That said, given it's been seven years, maybe I shouldn't hold my breath.)

Please include "normal view" as a priority fix!

The rule for MOD is "Computes the remainder of a/b. The remainder has the same
sign as b." Therefore you get MOD(-5;4)= 3 due to the calculation -5 = (-2)*4
+3. Using the other solution -5 = (-1) * 4 -1 would give a negative remainder.

The rule for QUOTIENT is "Return the integer portion of a division, e.g.,
QUOTIENT(-14;5) is -2."
So QUOTIENT(-5;4)=-1 because -5/4 = -1,25

So currently OOo follows the spec. For any changes first the spec has to be
changed. But that is out of scope of this issue tracker.

In the attached file cell A:6 returns the cosine of 5. When viewing under MS
Office 2007 the cell value is displayed as 0.283662185, but in OO its 0.28.

I know that the option 'OpenOffice.org Calc->Calculate->Decimal Places controls'
the number of decimal places that are displayed. It would however be nice if on
reading in an MS document that the decimal place settings in that document are
honored. Note we are importing documents via an automated process so the
appropriateness of the decimal places cannot be assessed.

I suspect you'll say its some miss-match between ODF and MS formats, but I'm
hoping for the best!

There is still something not right. Please see the attached screenshot. If your
argument is correct, then how come Wordpad can display the font name properly?

(My system wide font is window's default, i.e. Tahoma, and I selected "Chinese
(PRC)" as the non-unicode program language from Control Panel\Regional and
Language\Advanced tab).

It looks like OOo does not follow the non-unicode language settings, and chose
to display Han characters with Japanese bitmaps.

When using the functions QUOTIENT and MOD to calculate quotients and remainders
OOo gives the following output:

and warn users that QUOTIENT and MOD do not behave as expected.

• OS 10.5.8 (intel Mac)

• a random selection of OpenType fonts from different manufacturers:
– ITC Barcelona Std 
– Berthold Formata Pro 
– Adobe Jenson Pro 
– Linotype Avenir Std 
– Monotype Gill Sans Pro

• Only the PDF-export is affected.
Generating a PDF through the Apple OS print dialogue works fine though. But 
that worked fine in 
previous versions  of  OOo too.

I cannot reproduce this problem. Tested it with native OO 3.0.1 and 3.1 on
WinXP, ubuntu 9.04 and SUSE 10.1. Do you work on a certain Linux distribution,
e.g. ubuntu or Fedora running the by-packed OOo build? In this case, please
refer to the distributors support or even run the native OOo builds which can be
downloaded from OpenOffice.org.

This should be considered a bug. I make extensive use of conditional 
formatting, and doing so in Open Office stops any further activity on the 
spreadsheet because any row / coloumn changes (add / delete) immediately breaks 
all conditional formatting, and is not acceptable.

If you use relative references in your conditional formatting, you can't add/
delete a row/coloumn that moves your formatted cell. If you use absolute 
references, you cannot add/delete a row/coloumn that will move your referenced 
cell.

This is the single most important reason I can't use OpenOffice, and I can't 
recommend it in this condition. It's that serious of a bug. I use conditional 
formatting to quickly visualise the state of the data and it helps me prevent 
any editing errors, for example. But I cannot do it using OpenOffice, because 
once I design the conditional formatting functions, the document is pretty much 
fixed.

Compared 3.1 and CWS otf01 with the document (prueba_griego.odt) of the
submitter and the Minion Pro font installed on Windows Vista.
- 3.1: font not embedded in the PDF and fallback to "Reprise Rehearsal" font 
instead
- CWS otf01: Minion Pro is embedded and is displayed as in Writer.

I would consider this issue as verified.

Hi, 
I've been sent a document that has mixed letters in words in a table column
after saving. The text is oriented using Format > Characters > 90 degrees.
It has been created using MacOS 10.5.8 and has been reproduced by the user under
3.1.0 Fr and OOo_3.1.1rc1_20090807_MacOSXIntel_en-US and
OOo-Dev_DEV300_m55_MacOSXIntel_en-US.

Strangely, the spellchecker doesn't underline the misspelled word, the first one
should be 'Français' and is 'saiçnaFr'. Copying the word elsewhere in the doc
give various results: sometime the word is well copied, sometime it still shows
the wrong letter order. Copy to gedit gives the letters in the good order.

I've not been able to recreate a document showing the bug under Ubuntu but
correcting the words and saving it again, the letters are mixed again when I
reopen it. I'll attach the original document sent to me.

The issue is really crucial to my work. I like the product, too bad I can't use
it for this minor reason. 

I work in linguistics and in certain linguistic theories (e. g. optimality
theory) there are tabular representations of calculations where dotted
borderlines are crucial. Sounds like another reason to add this.

Regression, it is working in OOo 3.1, and not in m55.
See attached odb file, open form.
The fields in left side bounded to the same varchar_ignorecase type field, and
in right side controls to the same varchar field. Two-two control to the same
field. 
If you enter data into text fields (lower row controls), that case all numbers
stored in table. 
If you enter numbers into formatted fields(upper row controls), the data not
inserted into table. 

I found it when tested issue 101135. Phone numbers stored in text field and
inserted through formatted fields.

This feature does not appear to work for me.  I have a spreadsheet supplied that
I have removed some info (for my companies protection) but it still demonstrates
the problem.

Using 64 bit Ubuntu 9.04 Calc 3.0.1 Build 9379.  

I choose to group by and subtotal on column C.  I did -not- choose to resort, I
want to preserve the existing sort.  I have columns A & B hidden.  The subtotals
do properly insert, but when I go to Page break Preview, it pages normally, not
on the break values.

Well christoph,  thats easy

attached you get the sample-dbf (DPARA1)

However, you may be more interested in the attached picture,
and you will see real fun:
- the original DBF in a viewer - the firstfield is a recordcounter - value 1000
- the file open in OO.o the field is formated as 19.2 but displayed as original 
- store it under OO.o as a copy: the header ist stored correct, but the content
is stored wrong (1000.00)
- reopen the "stored under" version displays right, although the content is 
wrong! 

Make it simple: OO.o produces confusion with DBF-files, and at actual it is
nearly impossible to reopen the "stored as"-DBF-files from OO.o in applications
other than OO.o

issue longer than it already is but to get exact descriptions about
*regressions* and *failed fix*.

Good results under Ubuntu 9.04 and OOo Build 9418. OTFs are seen fine on screen
and prints very well on PDF's. Regarding to kerning problems, not seems to
appear here, not at least in a preliminary review.

Steps to reproduce:

- open a new text document
- add some text (for example use autotext DT+F3)
- in some place add a footnote (or an endnote)
- insert a picture and anchors it to the page (however the problem does not
depend on the type of anchor)
- right click on the picture > picture > wrap > choose "Through" and check
option "In background"
- move the picture so that it is in the background of the footnote anchor
- move the cursor over the footnote anchor => it does not change to show that
there is a link there. If you click on the anchor nothing happens.

This bug has been confirmed for OOo 3.1.1 RC1 on Linux X86 and X86-64, XP,
Vista, MacOS. And for and DEV300_m54 on Linux X86 (Ubuntu 8.04).

I did not mentioned Layout but Professional "Printing" like Books and Magazines.
We produces over 6.000 full color Trade Magazine Pages/year. Just using OO-
writer and Adobe Acrobat for the PDF output :-)

I'm sorry to say it, but in the Mac version (OOo 3.2.0 / DEV300m55 / Build 9418 
running on an intel Mac 
with OS 10.5.8) nothing is fixed.

The regular PDF-export of documents that use OpenType fonts produces only 
garbage, just like in all the 
previous versions.

OOo is not meant for professional layout anyway.

mask  to destinguish the allowed character-input (the first of the 
property-fields)
give it a try, and you will see what I mean: The cursor is behind the spaces
inserted by the system - that looks strange and and is not functional for 
editing .
