Ever since I upgraded to 3.1.0, after the splash screen closes the box asking if

I'd like text to wrap in a Rectangle, but there seems to be a default gap of 1
pixel to the edge, which looks too tight at high zoom, and is actually touching
at lower zoom.

I get a completely different result if I create a Text box and then apply the
Default style; the Text automatically wraps with a fixed border, and it disables
both Adjust to contour and "Spacing to borders".

>From the user's perspective, both Rectangle and Text can yield a similar result
depending on styles, so it's confusing and inflexible that they behave so
differently and with different limitations.

I suggest that the most flexible way to represent both Text and Rectangle would
be as a Text component within a Rectangle, where the Text component may always
be indented using "Spacing to borders".

(hopefully this has no impact on the document format; naturally that would make
require a clever extension to ensure that existing documents render the same as
today)

Missing characters of a font were replaced by OpenOffice.org automatically by
the corresponding characters (same unicode) of another font that includes these
characters. This replacement is done without warning the user. Furthermore the
font name box in the “format” toolbar (or the menu item “format > character”)
pretends that the concerning character is existing in the original font where it
doesn’t exist (resp. is missing) in fact. Unfortunately there is no possiblity
to turn off this automatic replacement in settings.

calculated by CONVERT_ADD and the MUST checks for units such as 'u' or 'e' or
'Wh' because the factors of those aren't exactly binary representable in IEEE
754 double when compiled from the constants. To solve one had to work out bit
patterns with better approximations or do some intelligent rounding when
constructing ConvertData.

Ever since I used OO.o (which is great), I've always wondered why the
installation-process is so strange. It's the only program which asks me where to

@rafaelda - pulled down your files and opened them w/ XP (SP3) OO.o 3.1.1 
(final).

After adjusting the path to the mdb file it opened fine, I was able to browse
and edit existing records, add new records and delete records.

Although there does seem to be a problem with:
the screen update after an insert
editing the table structure seems to issue an erroneous error message
...will look more at these.

There is a new open-source program which is geared towards producing epub
documents professionally. It's called Sigil. I think that OpenOffice should
integrate with this feature as soon as possible. It would be great to have an
"Export to Epub" feature right next to the famous "Export to PDF" one. Using
code or methods or whatever from Calibre, OOo could also convert to .mobi and
.lrf. Ebooks are the future and if one of the world's most popular word
processors got on this boat early then I think we'd see yet another spike in

I see similar bug in OO Impress (OpenOffice.org 3.1.0 OOO310m11 Build 9399)
under Debian/unstable.

Namely, OO Impress writes the attribute style:writing-mode= for the same object
in content.xml several times, resulting in a broken presentation file.

Here is a testcase.zip containing testcase.odp (working presentation) and
broken.odp (broken presentation with multiple style:writing-mode= attributes):

1. Start OO Impress and load testcase.odp
2. "Save As..." it under a new name, say, result.odp

I checked with a small, old 64MB USB thumb drive and "Ooo 3.1.0 WIN XP
multilingual version German UI activated  [OOO310m11 (Build 9399)]" and can NOT
confirm the reported effect. Opened an existing document on USB drive, modified
it, detached drive, reattached drive after 1 minute, modified again and pressed
"save" icon. Document has been saved on USB thumb drive without any problems. 

Same result with "2.4.1  Multilingual version German UI WIN XP:

I installed "OOo_3.1.1rc2_20090820_Win32Intel_langpack_ar.exe" and did some own
tests. 

Result: All words "Page" in UI are written in the same way as the word
complained by the reporter.

Please explain what in "scrambled_text.png" is the "wrong" text, why do you
think that it's wrong, how did you create the page information in the page
(footer?)  ..., and all this if possible n a way that it can be understood
without Arabic language knowledge.
