Its use is demonstrated in the attached screenshot. This fix could also be considered as a workaround for issue 56746 Besides its normal use as: nospace {a b c} the new operator has been tested to work reasonably in cases like nospace {} //empty group nospace a ... // missing group in such cases the nospace operator is ignored. The attached icons are needed for the selection toolbar. They belong to ./default_images/starmath/res Concerning the positioning of the new button in the selection toolbar I would propose a modification which has not been included in the patch. I think it is a good idea to interchange the positions of the new button for "nospace" and the button for "newline". Pros: 1) The newline button will be the only button in the row, which is favorable since it is an important and very often used feature. 2) All gap related buttons: nospace, `, ~ can be found in the same (last) column. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [graphics-issues] [Issue 51785] Impress Seems unable to Ed it Hyperlinks in PowerPoint Show files
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=51785 --- Additional comments from rush2...@openoffice.org Sun Feb 7 04:42:50 + 2010 --- Description: I could not reproduce the problem of being unable to Edit Hyperlinks in PowerPoint files within Impress. This issue seems more related to it being unintuitive in editing hyperlinks in OO Impress, similar to Issue 89455. I found that the text within the textbox has to be highlighted in order to edit the existing hyperlink. This was true of imported PowerPoint files as well as editing hyperlinks within a new OO presentation. This is not equivalent to editing and creating hyperlinks in Microsoft PowerPoint, where the hyperlink is disabled in design mode, and you can click on the textbox and immediately highlight the hyperlink text. For example, You can then right click the hyperlink text and edit, open, copy or remove hyperlink associated with text. (This was observed with Microsoft PowerPoint 2003.) ** 'Insert -> Hyperlink' ** I was able to edit hyperlinks in the attached file PBCMenu.pps with, - Open Office 3.1.1 OOO310m19 (Build:9420), and - Open Office OOo-dev 3.3.0 DEV300m70 (Build:9478) using the following steps: (1) Download the attachment from the original bug report 'PBCMenu.pps' (2) Launch OpenOffice Impress, and open file 'PBCMenu.pps' (3) Select the textbox containing the hyperlink. I had trouble selecting the textboxes with hyperlinks in this presentation without inadvertently clicking the link. *To remedy this, I held down the Alt key, and clicked the box. (4) Press F2, to open the textbox for editing, and highlight the text. (5) Select Insert -> Hyperlink. (6) The 'Hyperlink' dialog menu opens up, and the path to the hyperlink is present and can be edited there. *Please see attachment below (using DEV300m70) demonstrating the above steps: Insert_Hyperlink.avi ** Hyperlink Toolbar ** Using the Hyperlink Toolbar, however, does not initially allow existing hyperlinks to be edited. Only until I follow the steps above to edit the hyperlink with the dialog menu 'Insert -> Hyperlink' first, does the 'URL:' show up for that hyperlink in the toolbar. (1) Start by adding the 'Hyperlink Bar' to the toolbar, select View-->Toolbars-->Hyperlink Bar. (2) Follow Steps 1-4 above, the hyperlink text appears in the left drop down menu of the 'Hyperlink Bar', but the path does not appear in the toolbar textbox 'URL:'. (3) Continue with Step 5 - 6 from above, when the menu opens do not edit anything, just click 'Apply' and 'Close'. (4) Now view the 'URL:' field of the 'Hyperlink Toolbar' and the path for that hyperlink is now visible and modifiable there. *Please see attachment below (using DEV300m70) demonstrating the above steps: Hyperlink_Bar.avi Configuration: Acer Aspire 4730Z Laptop Operating System - Windows Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 1 Processor- Intel® Pentium® dual-core mobile processor T3200 (1 MB L2 cache, 2.0 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 35 W) Memory (RAM) - 2.00 GB System type - 32-bit Operating System VGA - 14.1" WXGA high-brightness (200-nit) Acer CrystalBrite TFT LCD, 1280 x 800 pixel resolution Graphics - Mobile Intel® GL40 Express Chipset with integrated 3D graphics, featuring Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M (Intel® GMA 4500M) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=108917 --- Additional comments from stelukunti2...@openoffice.org Sun Feb 7 04:21:34 + 2010 --- Hello, Just tested with OOo 3.3.0(build 9478) on windows vista machine and the issue seems to be alive. Here's how to reproduce: 1. Open Impress with a new or existing presentation. 2. From the Insert menu, select Comment. 3. We Can See the Comment box open, Now We Can See Small Button in lower right. 4. Left click on the Small Button. Effect observed: The menu strip of the comment disappears when I Left click on the small button on the comment feature but would appear and stay only when we hold on the button (Left Click and Hold). However I tried to see this issue in different systems and in other program (writer). In Writer for example (Following the Steps mentioned above), the comment pull- down menu still remains set to the last (stay for a While) used, which is much more user friendly. But in Other Program (Like Drawing) I could replicate the issue as in Impress. But in Spreadsheet there is no button in right corner of the comment feature. We would have select the cell and right click on the cell to get the features of the comment. Follow Up Tests Use case 1: I Tried the Sequence of Steps as mentioned above on a Windows 7 Machine with Open Office 3.3.0 (build9478).I could replicate the issue in Impress, Drawing but it Seems to work fine in Writer. Spreadsheet: I don’t have any button for comment feature in the spreadsheet . Use Case 2: I tried to replicate the issue using different Open Office 3.2 .0 (Build 9483) on windows vista machine but in this case instead of clicking left click in comment feature button I hit right click and now the pull down menu appeared and did not disappear and remained for longer time. This menu strip is different from the first one but had all the options as the first one. Look for the attachments for reference. Same case observed in Drawing program. Spread sheet: There was no button on the right hand corner .we would have to select the format cell and then right click it to view the options for a comment. Writer: When I Right Click on the comment button I don’t get see the menu strip that I have seen for presentation or Drawing. As mentioned above the comment menu strip seems to have strange Behavior, It Seems to have different behavior in all the Programs Writer, Impress ,Drawing & Spreadsheet. Although this seems to be minor issue but can give customers some bad feel about the product as it seems to be lacking some consistency of the feature within the programs. System Configuration Windows Vista, 4GB Ram , Intel Processor 2.40Ghz Windows 7, 4GB Ram, Intel processor 2.20GHz. Open Office 3.3.0(DEV300_m70,build 9478) & Open Office 3.2 .0 (Build 9483) Cheers, Srikanth - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I imported previously existing Powerpoint presentations and have made several new ones, all of which were able to be saved, opened, and edited properly. Procedures: Importing previously existing Powerpoint.: 1. Created Powerpoint presentation in Microsoft Office Powerpoint 2007. 2. Saved as .ppt extension. 3. Opened with OOo Impress. 4. Edited presentation. 5. Saved presentation. (Repeated with saving as .ppt and .odp.) Creating new presentation in Impress: 1. Created new presentation (repeated with both empty and from template) 2. Saved presentation as .ppt. 3. Closed Impress and reopened Impress. 4. Loaded and edited presentation. 5. Saved changed. (Repeated with saving as .ppt and .odp) I was unable to reproduce the bug by following either the preexisting Powerpoints made with Microsoft Office or with OOo Impress. Since Impress's performance is affected by the up-time of your computer, you should monitor the other processes that are running (especially other OpenOffice processes) and see how they interact with Impress. If that doesn't result in any useful information, try switching out hard drives to see if its a problem with writing to the disk. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [graphics-issues] [Issue 103348] Format Default on selecti on should not reset paragraph properties
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=103348 --- Additional comments from yyang2...@openoffice.org Sun Feb 7 04:03:55 + 2010 --- I have already replicated this failure successfully. Configuration information: OOo version: 3.1 Sony VAIO VGN FW 590 laptop Operating system: Win 7 Steps to replicate the failure: • Create a new presentation in Open Office. • Choose “Title, 2 Text Blocks” as layout. Any layout other than default layout. ( for example I chose Title, 2 Text Blocks layout.) • Copy a paragraph from the webpage and paste it into both the two textboxes in the Open Office. This paragraph has to be same in both the textboxes. • Highlight the whole paragraph from the left textbox and select Format- >Paragraph. Change the Line spacing into double. • I clearly see that the Line spacing of the whole paragraph in the left textbox has already changed into double. • Highlight part of one sentence in the left text box. Select Format- >Default Formatting Expectation: As we know, the default row spacing of Open Office is single. So my expectation is that row spacing of highlight part of sentence changes into single but other parts of paragraph in the left textbox don’t change. Result: The row spacing of whole paragraph in the left text box (both the highlighted part and unhighlighted part) changes into single. Follow Up Test I am not sure that this is a bug so I test the same situation on the Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office version: Office 2003 Chinese Steps to replicate the failure on Microsoft Office: • Create a new presentation on Microsoft PowerPoint. • Choose the same layout I chose on Open Office. • Copy the same paragraph and paste them into the two textbox in PowerPoint. • Highlight the whole paragraph from the left textbox and change the row spacing into double. •The row spacing of the whole paragraph in the left textbox has already changed into double. • Highlight part of one sentence in the left textbox. Because there is no such options like “Default Formatting” in PowerPoint 2003, I have to select Format->Row Spacing and change the row spacing into single. Expectation: I expect that row spacing of highlight part of sentence changes into single but other parts of paragraph in the left textbox don’t change. Result: The row spacing of whole paragraph changes into single. In addition, I did more follow-up testing on Microsoft Word and got the same result. This failure does fail to achieve customer’s expectation. As a result, it is a bug. However, in my opinion, most users will not have the same operations and they will not meet the same failure. I think this is not a serious bug. Also, I think that this bug is probably hard to be fixed because it is impossible to set two paragraph states in one paragraph. So I think that it is better to defer or reject this bug. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I used Open Office version OOO310m19 (Build: 9420) I performed all the steps that have been described by 'dazzling0126'. I was not able to see width column activated, it may be due to reason that this issue has been resolved now with the new version of Open Office. Follow up Test ; 1)Click ‘Format’ menu in the menu bar -> ‘Line’->Line Dialog Box appears. In Line Tab -> The Default Arrow style was set to NONE for both the left and right side of arrow and Width for both the columns were DEACTIVATED.(This was the issue what was raised.) I changed the Arrow styles to Arrow, width column was activated. I again changed it to None, width was deactivated. I tried with all other Arrow styles (at both ends) and change again to none and found the result as same. Hence, I was unable to replicate it with new version of Open office. 2)I found one thing inconsistent with similar kind of behavior. If user select some Arrow Styles say both styles as Arrow and when you change Style in Line properties as Invisible, everything gets deactivated other than Arrow styles width. Activated Arrow style width in invisible style seems to be little inappropriate. This is important to users because partial rights are provided in invisible mode. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I'll try to be more precise: Formulas can be inserted into documents by the "Insert - Object - Formula" command. This command is available in all Open Office applications - Writer, Impress, Draw, etc. When a formula is inserted in a document, it can later be edited by double click. [graphics-issues] [Issue 70602] Custom animation list alwa ys scrols to top
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=70602 --- Additional comments from cwid...@openoffice.org Sat Feb 6 23:00:32 + 2010 --- I was able to reproduce this issue with OOo-dev 3.3.0 (DEV300_m71 build 9481) on Windows XP using the original steps described by ftack, as well as the follow-up example attachment provided. If you have a high resolution screen, exploring this issue may be easier if you re-size the Impress window to be smaller, so that fewer items are displayed in the “Custom Animation” object list. The following tests can be done with either a new or an existing presentation. Behavior with the “Change...” and “Remove” buttons: 1) Add a rectangle to the screen. By default the shapes toolbar is at the bottom of the screen. 2) Copy the rectangle on the slide until there are more items than will fit in the list in the “Custom Animation” section of the Tasks pane. Resizing the window will help minimize the number of shapes needed. 3) Select all of the shapes on the slide and click “Add...”, then apply the “Appear” effect. 4) Deselect them, and scroll down the list and select one of the last shapes created. 5) Click the “Change...” button, and change the effect, as mentioned in ftack's steps. 6) The list of objects will automatically scroll to the top, but the selection will not change. The object that you just modified will remain selected, even though it is not currently visible in the list. Clicking “Change...” again will allow you to change the effect on that object. 7) Repeat steps 1-4, but then click the “Remove” button. The list automatically scrolls to the top, but the object is no longer selected. Clicking “Add...” will not allow you to add an effect to that object. This seems to be the correct behavior, as the object is no longer in the list (since it no longer has any animation), but it could still be confusing to the user given that modifying an object's animation causes the same behavior from the list of objects. Effect changes from the main screen: 1) Add a rectangle to the screen. By default the shapes toolbar is at the bottom of the screen. 2) Copy the rectangle on the slide until there are more objects than will fit in the list in the “Custom Animation” section of the Tasks pane. Resizing the window will help minimize the number of shapes needed. 3) Select all of the shapes on the slide and click “Add...”, then apply the “Appear” effect. 4) Deselect them, and scroll down the list to one of the last shapes created. 5) Select it, and modify the settings without using the “Change...” or “Remove” buttons. This includes changing the “Start”, “Property”, or “Speed” dropdown selections. 6) The object list will automatically scroll back to the top. Changes made to the animation effect without opening the “Change...” dialog also cause the list to scroll back to the top, but leave the current object selected. This behavior appears to be consistent will all types of objects (charts, pictures, tables, etc), not just shapes. Clicking the “Change...” button causes the issue even if nothing is actually changed. The list scrolls to the top when the change dialog is closed, regardless of whether anything was actually changed. I agree with ftack that this can be an inconvenience for users working with many animated objects on their slides. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I was doing an experiment to see the impact of block-size on partitions using Crystal DiskMark 2.2, so I wrote this document (http://uploading.com/files/396mmab4/blocks.xls/), and when trying to generate a diagram, calc was unable to do it correctly when there was fusionned cells ("Seq", "512K" and "4K" on my document). So Calc generates this (http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/1840/calct.jpg), I was unable to get a correct generation despite modifying diagram's proprieties. But when using Microsoft Excel (2003), the result is just awesome (http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/7007/excelv.jpg) BTW, where is the uploading feature mentionned? Why reporting a bug is so long to find (it took me 30min of hanging on this site to find it ...) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I searched the database but the closest issue I found is 101503 (it is differet though). So here it is: 1: Created sheet/workbook in (Office) Excel Pro 2003 11.512.5606 (eng) on a XP pro SP2 (eng) machine. (business machine) 2: Protected sheet (without p/w) to avoid unintended deletion of formulas and fixed contend. 3: Opened sheet/workbook in OOO 3.1.1 (OOO310m19 (Build 9420)) (deutsch) on a XP pro SP3 (deutsch) machine. (private machine) 4: Unprotected the document (sheet) by: Ticking the box 'Dieses Tabellendokument fuer andere Benutzer freigeben' in 'Extras->Dokument freigeben' 5: Saved the file as requested (in Excel as well as OOO format). Closed and re-opened it. 6: A info box pops up confirming that the file is 'freigegeben' and may be modified by all users. The box (see step 4) is still ticked. 7: If I try to modify any of the protected cells e.g. A3 (all but B39 and B40) I'll get a message 'Gesperrte Zellen koennen nicht geaendert werden'. I can provide the files .xls and .ods once I found out how to do it (I am pretty new here). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [framework-issues] [Issue 97055] no warning when save file if there is hidden content
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=97055 --- Additional comments from e_christen...@openoffice.org Sat Feb 6 09:54:50 + 2010 --- I confirm the described behavior on Windows XP, Oo version 3.1.1 (OOo310m19- build 9420). The help says "Select to see a warning dialog when you try to save or send a document that contains recorded changes, versions, or notes.", which is quite a bit different than the title over the checkbox, which includes the wording "Warn if document contains recorded changes, versions, hidden information or notes." Probably worth including separate checkboxes for hidden paragraphs/sections and characters formatted as hidden or the same color as the background. Assuming the title on the checkbox is correct, then, at a minimum, the help should indicate what hidden information is involved, and, if invisibly-formatted characters aren't going to be detected, that tidbit. Perhaps the author of the dialog box meant to say "Warn if document contains hidden information such as recorded changes, versions, or notes". - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
