directly to me, if by bad luck I may not see them in the issues ML and nobody
else is assigning them to me they will just loiter around, probably until
someone else makes a new comment and have them appear in the ML once more.

tl->nemeth: won't it be possible to take care of this in the spell check
dictionary or hunspell itself? I'm just asking because removing them in the
SpellCheckerDispatcher will have the following two side effects:

a) the replacement word will probably also not provide diacritics which may look
somewhat odd if all the surrounding text is using them.

b) if there ever were another spell checker implementation for Hebrew that could
properly work with diacritics and provide them in replacements as well, then the
patch will effectively suppress that feature. 

Thus I'm a little hesitant until told this patch actually has to be the solution
to take.

Just to update you, after cleaning with the registry editor and deleting
everything found from a disk search, the install worked.
So this is one work around for the bug, wherever it is.

I am taking your suggestion because I really DO want to upgrade.
The bug part of this issue is that the Hebrew install leaves some unknown mess
around which PREVENTS installing the English version. I didn't do an upgrade
from Hebrew 3.1 to English 3.2, but rather I uninstalled the Hebrew version and
then attempted to install the English version. This failed, and did so 
consistently.

Now I have done regedit, searched for all keys with openoffice, and deleted all
of them. After that I search drive c: for any other openoffice entries and
deleted all of them as well. Now I am downloading a fresh copy of English 3.2.1
and HOPE that it will work.

This is something beyond most users, and it shows a bug. I will let you know if
the English version succeeds. Hopefully, if I removed all traces of previous
versions, it will.

When a newly opened .odg drawing is exported to svg, OOo crashes without 
exporting.
It also leaves the .~lock* entry in place.
(An error report was also submitted automatically)

I have a moderately complex drawing.
The initial version contained a lot of text, but deleting most of the text did
not help.

Steps to reproduce :
1) Open a .odg drawing, which displays correctly in OOo.
2) export to svg format
3) crash !

Note that I was exporting it to svg to use in a CAD program, as it was becoming
too complex to easily modify in draw.

Steps

1. Create an empty Presentation
2. When you see Click to add title, click
3. Write "kaksi sanaa"
4. Select text "Kaksi sanaa" with mouse so that it is "painted".
5. Execute the menu command: Format - Change Case - Capitalize Every Word
6. You get: "Kaksi Sanaaaksi sanaa"

So there is extra copy function for orginal text less first letter which is
already automatic changed to Capital Letter.

I find no use for these copy feature so I think it is defect.  It works in many
languages and operating systems too but it is quite useless in all of them.

Yeah, agreed. In retrospect my window manager was running from a UTF-8 locale
while OOo was run from a non-UTF8 shell.

The other part does seem to make a difference for me. This is fairly edge-case
stuff though, so I don't feel strongly about it

Normally financial functions are using their own string "Rate" as string for
argument. For example check PV and YIELD functions in Calc's Function Wizard.

For some reason NPV function is using string "RATE" and I guess from string for
RATE function's name.

1) RATE is somehow ugly string as an argument
2) In Finnish localization the names of functions are still in English. So this
RATE string is in place of more suitable "Korko" as normally argument string
"Rate" is translated.

I don't know if there is any reason use "RATE" string here?

1. screenshots how it looks like and how it should look like or better
2. attach an file, where one can see, what is wrong (say: You have found this in
Impress, than create an Impress file) and one, where it is OK (maybe this works
in Writer? Than it would be nice to compare the same text in Writer as in
Impress to see the difference ... ;) ).
And it would be nice, if you could give us some information about the system,
where you have found it: Which OS/architecture/version ... ;) As 3.1.1 RC2 is
rather old, it would be nice, if you could test it with OOO330m3 again ... ;)

I did  try to toggle the view field off of the view menu but the data still 
does not preview in preview mode or print out, just the field names show. For 
the data base I only have one record filled, but you would think that it should 
at least show that record in one of the lable sections.

Still doesn't work for me in OOo 3.3-beta1 (OOO330m3, build 9519) using the
"Linux 64-bit" build. To clarify: if I open wg's bugdoc I see the text animation
correctly in preview; if I start the presentation from slide 2 I see the
animation in presentation mode too; but if I start the presentation from slide 1
I still see no animation (and no text at all, actually) on slide 2.

I stumbled upon this issue during my TCM test for OOO330m3. On my system
(Germanophone version of OOo, Debian SID/Experimental AMD64) the text animation
works not only in text but also in presentation mode ... :) Could you (or
someone else with an other system/architecture) test it as well, if it solved,
please? And close this issue, if it is fixed?

yes, now the iso encoded name does not display correctly anymore. I think we
should leave out the "set title" part of the patch - if someone actually works
in an non-UTF-8 locale, he's more likely to encounter non-UTF-8 encoded
filenames. My guess is that locale switching is a rather rare occurance.

This is not intuitive. This should be changed. No person in their right mind
works on a document without saving in increments. Or no smart person does. This
feature has no use, doesn't do what the words mean, and either should be removed
or changed. My fault for assuming it was working i.e. Always save version on
closing? Checked = yes. Therefor on closing the version should be saved. Simple
question statement, however what you saying is not that. Based on what your
saying is how it works the question statement should be.
If you haven't saved, and are closing the document do you want a version saved?
imho: if the file has changed from it's opening saved time stamp, then on exit
the current version should be saved. This is how I thought it was working. If
the time stamp thing isn't possible, then if the box is checked, it should ask
on EVERY close.

This seems like a really old issue that was fixed a long time ago, but I think 
I am seeing the same thing in OpenOffice 3.2.  When I save a spreadsheet 
in .xls format and open it in the Microsoft Excel Viewer, cells containing 
formulae appear as zero.  It doesn't do this every time, but I haven't figured 
out what triggers it.  However if I open it in Microsoft Excel or OOCalc the 
cells always display correctly.

Any help would be much appreciated!  Our specific problem is not actually with 
the Excel viewer; we have our own parsers which read the .xls file to create 
other files based on its content, and it is this which is breaking when the 
formulae results are not saved.

Formulas in existing documents and creating new formulas doesn't work properly 
anymore. Brackets () and + signs become centered dots, SetN etc. become 
ordinary capitals in some font etc. Maybe this bug is caused by exporting a 
file (text-document in which formulas were included) to xhtml. Any file i open 
has corrupted formulas. I tried closing OOo and restarting my computer, nothing 
helps :(

I cannot reproduce this problem. Tested it with native 3.2 on WinXP and SUSE 11.
Do you work on a certain Linux distribution, e.g. Ubuntu or Fedora running the
by-packed OOo build? In this case, please refer to the distributors support or

Sorry, i didn´t try this, yet. But i downloaded my uploaded defect File, 
renamed it to vcl.xcu and placed it into the "C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 3
\Basis\share\registry\data\org\openoffice" i get the errors in all programms. 
After clicking to times "no", the program started.

I take care on about 700 Clients with automated installations of OOo, an i have 
only two reports (til now) about this error. 

We just migrated to Vista, so the installation should be a clean one. Even on 
updating an existing Version, I delete the existing one.

I cannot reproduce this problem. Tested it with native 3.2.1 on WinXP, Ubuntu
10.04 and SUSE 11. Do you work on a certain Linux distribution, e.g. Ubuntu or
Fedora running the by-packed OOo build? In this case, please refer to the
distributors support or even run the native OOo builds which can be downloaded
from OpenOffice.org.

1. Create an OOo writer document.
2. Save it.
3. Goto File -> Properties and change the title.

I would expect this to trigger a save required.  However, that doesn't happen. 
I can't save the document manually (the save button is grayed out) unless I make
some other change to it.  And the property change isn't automatically saved 
either.

1. When pasting HTML the program becomes unresponsive. Have to force quit. 
Program will not start until reboot thereafter.

2. When paste special>HTML and then trying to save file, the program closes 
without pasting the HTML. When starting Writer and it will recover and the HTML 
has not been pasted.
