This would be in the normal office run, not in the headless case. I agree that setting an object as its own delegate is quaint (to say the least) - it would have been cleaner to separate the delegate messages in an own object. Nevertheless the delegate needs to be set or you get different behavior. Furthermore drawing is not only done to screen or window but also to virtual devices (aka offscreen bitmaps). And even window contents is not considered write only by vcl, although read access should really only occur on virtual devices. You need a context to read from (well, actually the layer created from that context) in AquaSalGraphics::getBitmap, which can be called for both windows and virtual devices. Of course in the headless case you will not see any problems directly, but for instance PDF export occasionally creates a virtual device to fill a background bitmap pattern which then gets exported, a non functional vdev (since it would also not have a layer created then, right?) would break such features. Anyway the CGBitmapContextCreate call in question is only for VDevs and indeed wrong. Apparently I did not run into that if case (which I should have verified, I apologize). It is possible to insert a cross-reference based on a numbered paragraph. It is possible to number a paragraph over its style attributes (vs. hard attributes) It is possible to apply a style to a specific level of TOC entry. But it is NOT possible to get a working reference to a numbered paragraph in a TOC. Guessing why: each time a TOC is updated its content is thrown away, re-inserted, the format re-applied. Let a Sheet have some of this charts (not even complex) and memory explodes. We already had some iterations of tasks from people whom the footprint is too big, and they have valid reasons. I am still wondering about system draw performance; as stated above (and checked in debugging) the geometry (fat lines here) is pretty directly dumped to GDI+ (in Windoes case), so it's not the architecture of the OOo graphic subsystem in general. A problem still is that there is no way with VCL today to check if the view has changed again during paint and break it cleanly.
