For example, I have the first page with an index (I use index1 and index3 styles) and a second page where the first line is a title in Times New Roman, bold and size 16 (I use no specific style here), there are 3 blank lines and a text in Times New Roman size 12. Sometimes when I close the file and I re-open it the first line of the second page (that is the title) is shown in Times New Roman size 12 (no bold). Are we so sure that the current chosen modules (GDI+, XRender, Drawinglayer) are the one the OSes now (!) are powered to do these kind of tasks??? May be that the chosen modules are obsolete (at all or at least for these kind of tasks) and maintained by the various OSes only for retro-compatibility? I ask myself this question because I have in mind that in the 3D graphics we frequently deal with 30 or 40 fps (frames per second!!!) and here we are on the contrary speaking of 1 frame in 20 or more seconds and so 1/20 fps that is 0,05 fps...!!! Is this caused only for the pour 2D performance with respect to the richest 3D one or are the chosen modules obsolete as supposed by me? Do you think there are something that sound wrong? And this is not the sound card nor pulse audio! ;-) Carlo - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Without the presenter console the slideshow should default to the primary display. And the primary display is the one with index 0. So this is a tough one, should the mere existence of the presenter console switch the setting to index 1? Or should the presenter console ignore the setting? Bad Idea IMHO. Currently I have no idea how this is done sane. As always I think that solutions using 'Magic' never work. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [graphics-issues] [Issue 116307] Display the presenter scr een on the right monitor
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=116307 --- Additional comments from er...@openoffice.org Wed Jan 12 12:48:58 + 2011 --- @af: If I understand you correctly then the dialog box fox selecting the screen works as expected. Yes it does It just is not very user friendly? In fact, the right user frendly behavior woud be to NOT have to open any dialog box at all. Yes, I agree with you on that. :-) But I have another idea of a solution: Add a button to the presenter screen for exchanging the displays. Well, I agree with that, but with this solution, we do not avoid the user to click. The initial request is : open the file, and launch the presenter screen on the right display, doing nothing else. Imagine somebody double clicking on the .odp document : the result is systematicaly wrong, because the monitors are swaped by default. Can you be more specific about the details? I'll try Please note that most of the issue is caused by the fact, that there is no other way to exchange the monitors than opening the dialog box AND click OK (this is imho, due to a deep limitation in OpenOffice.org, asking to click on OK buttons with modal dialogs, but that's another debate ;-) ) How to programatically identify the displays of laptop, beamer, desktop pc, etc. I traced on Mac and Linux (not Windows), and so far, when only one monitor is detected, it is seen as number 0 My choice is : the Presenter screen must be blind and rely on what the void SdStartPresentationDlg::InitMonitorSettings() returns ( sd/source/ui/dlg/present.cxx:187 ) How does it work ? sd/source/ui/present.cxx and sd/source/ui/slideshow/slideshow.cxx will do the job The principle is simple to add +1 to the selected monitor, and let the Presenter screen use them 1) Modifications in present.cxx SdStartPresentationDlg::InitMonitorSettings() instantiates xMultiMon instance. The number of monitors is returned by mnMonitors = xMultiMon-getCount() If mnMonitors is = to 1, no need to use the PresenterScreen. In the opposite case, means if two or more monitors are detected, we are in the case the Presenter screen is used. In this case, we check for system properties MultiDisplay (boolean), and DefaultDisplay ( nPrimaryIndex ) will help. Last if bMultiScreen is true, we'll not start the Presenter screen either, because it means the frame is shared in several monitors, and it does not make sense to use the presenter screen here. Behind the UNO interface, we have in fact the real work done in vcl. e.g. GetDefaultDisplayNumber is defined vcl/inc/salsys.hxx and implemented in svapp.cxx, in Application::GetDefaultDisplayNumber(), itself using pSys-GetDisplayScreenCount() ( pSys is a pointer of SalSystem object type, defined in salsys.hxx ). What I did is : if !bMultiScreen and nMonitor 0 and in the case the nSelected == 0 ( the default display ), then I select nPrimaryIndex + 1 as default display. In present.cxx: maLBMonitor.SelectEntryPos( (USHORT)nSelected ) means that the selected monitor who will appear in the listbox (if ever we open the dialog box) is the one matching with nPrimaryIndex +1 2) Modifications in sd/source/ui/slideshow/slideshow.cxx Because the Presenter screen has no setter, we do the work when starting the presentation, more precisely in void SlideShow::StartFullscreenPresentation( ) : pWorkWindow-StartPresentationMode( TRUE, mpDoc-getPresentationSettings().mbAlwaysOnTop ? PRESENTATION_HIDEALLAPPS : 0, nDisplay +1 = this exactly forces to display the presentation on the right monitor, doing nothing. At the end, in PresenterScreen.cxx, I did : - increment the nScreenCount and nScreenNumber, to match the case ( nMonitor 1) - not swap the monitors, because it is no longer needed. Unfortunaly, my patch is not perfect and needs some work. Sorry if I was not clear, but I'm not a native speaker. The difference would be that in the symbol define dialog you can explicitly choose which font is to be used whereas you can not influence what font gets used if you simply type that character in the edit window. Also if you are already using 3.3 or a current developer snapshot you can now easily see the Unicode position of the selected characters. You can also try to set ALL the top 4 fonts listed in the Format/Fonts dialog to a font that actually contains those characters, because at least on my Windows box the Times New Roman does NOT contain those characters which might be part of the problem. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sc-issues] [Issue 110384] Extremely slow scrolling in calc when charts are displayed
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=110384 --- Additional comments from a...@openoffice.org Wed Jan 12 15:45:08 + 2011 --- AW: I really wish it would be soo easy :-( DirectX and OpenGL are 3D renderers, which: (a) cannot paint offscreen (b) do not AA at all basically (c) do not paint PolyPolygons, nor fat lines (a) means that You only can paint to screen directly and accept a return of flickering screen contents. Currently the repaint goes into a offscreen surface and gets copied to the front to avoid flickering, thus only renderers which can render to offscreen surfaces are usable. Second possibility is switching two contents (e.g. of a window). Problem here is that the whole OOo window IS a system window, the UI elements around the paint surface (toolbars, side panes, ...) are no system windows, but VCL (virtual) windows which would be overpainted. In both cases, the whole VCL and apps need to be adapted/rewritten to be flipped completely/to not paint in regions of VCL windows. (a) also means You have no way for printing; the resolutions would be so huge in print output preparation that you would need another method of preparation for that (2nd renderer). This also needs renderers which can work offscreen, if bitmap preparation for printing is needed (e.g. the case for transparent parts in objects). (b) means that you would need some e.g. 4x4 oversampling; besides the video mem needed (remember OOo is also for small devices and older machines) You never get the full 256-step-AAed view 2D renderers can do. A quality loss. (c) means that You would have to generate the filled polygon geometry for the fat lines and triangulate them. This means (esp. in the examples) megabytes of data You need to buffer if you want fast repaints. Also triangulation (despite we have it) is not cheap at all. Believe me, currently what we use is pretty much the best you can use. Without a complete rewrite (or a very huge adaption) of OOo with those concepts in mind, this cannot be done (unfortunately). You may try it out, it's open source. The better way would be to make VCL thread-save and being able to stop the current paint when the user scrolls (kinda lazy-repainting of complicated regions). This is also a huge task (people tried to make VCL reentrant and thrad-safe for some years already), but it's more doable than using 3D renderers. Sorry for the bad news, but it's more complicated than a first look may show... - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=4183 --- Additional comments from do...@openoffice.org Wed Jan 12 19:36:00 + 2011 --- I've just uploaded an attachment with my attempt to use the customize keyboard interface to approximate emacs key bindings. I only hope this can be made available to others through OO itself (like eclipse has an emacs key binding option). It would be nice if it were mentioned somewhere in the help, or if a search could show it. I can't believe I'm the first to take the trouble to do this, and yet I see no evidence of such a thing. Emacs mode approximation via Tools - Customize (keyboard) === Control Chars === A to line begin B to character left (=left)(why not go left?) C D (no delete command?) currently using a macro that does forward, backspace This does the wrong thing when at the end (deletes backward). E to end of line (=end) F go right (=right)(why not to character right?) G H I J K delete to end of line (doesn't kill end of line though) L M N to line below (= down) O - drat, still does open file P to top line (= up) Q R, S = find replace T (maybe a macro can do this?) U V next page (= next) W cut X Y paste Z / undo === ALT characters === A to previous sentence B to word left C D delete to end of word E to next sentence F to word right G H I J K delete to end of sentence L M N O P Q R S T U V previous page W X Y Z === top of wish list === - alt , (to start and end of document) these seem not to be custom keys; there is a 'to end of document' but no 'to beginning of document' - c-a-F,B - set mark, switch point and mark (backspace works, as does delete) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
