[graphics-issues] [Issue 111248] OLE object are not saved when document is recovering from OOo crash

But in about 2 hours of testing, I only managed to replicate the problem two times (using the example odp I provided earlier). This time I had to save te restored document and reopen before the OLE objects dissapeared. But unfortunatly I was unable to find a consistent way to reproduce the problem.. I could only prove that the problem does exists.. I will try a dev version soon, and see if I can reproduce the problem again. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. When OOo was restarted it recovered this Impress presentation, and the document looked good at first. So the document was then saved and closed. Then after reopening the document, we noticed that a lot of those OLE objects where replaced by a single icon 'OLE' and no way to recover the original OLE object. I also noticed that after the recovering, and saving the document was suddenly only half of its original size, but still looked good after the recover. Only when the document was then closed and reopened, a lot of the OLE objects where broken (not all of them). We have been able to reproduce this a few times and the number of OLE objects that where broken after the recover - save - close - reopen seem to be completely random. This document however contains a lot of confidential information so I'm not able to attach it here. I tried to reproduce this same problem with a new test document that I can attach here, but I couldn't reproduce it with the exact same result, however a similar result came up: After recovering the document a lot of OLE objects where already broken without even first saving, closing and reopening the document. Steps to reproduce: - Open the attached document - make some changes to it (add new slides and put some calc OLE objects to it) - add some animations to those objects (not certain if this has anything to do with it, but this is how I did it) - wait for OOo to take an automatic backup if the file - change some more on the document - kill all soffice processes - start OOo - Recover the document --> a few or a lot of the OLE objects are now broken - If not, then save the document, close and reopen --> a few OLE objects should now be broken I think this should certainly be fixed in the next version (3.2.1? or 3.3?) as one should be able to trust the automatic recovering feature of OOo - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. And have the same issue: The option Paste special is missing from Impress and Draw I've found out that when I completely remove my user profile (C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\OpenOffice.org) the option comes back, so it seems to be some error in my user profile. This user profile however existed since OOo 2.3 and has been migrated with almost every OOo version (2.4, 2.4.1, 3.0, 3.1).. Has there been a migration error somewhere? I also checked with a few other users (ones who had the same migration path, and ones that skipped OOo 3.1), but most users seem to have no problem with this issue - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I see this problem as such: - When a column is only TEXT, NUMBER or DATE, the mail merge shows every value - When a column is mixed TEXT and NUMBER and/or DATE, the mail merge only show the TEXT values. Other values are not imported/shown - When a column is mixed NUMBER and DATE, then all NUMBERs are shown as DATE values in the mail-merge. [framework-issues] [Issue 99971] New file not in front wind ow

And I can imagine that many people will think alike and will block OOo versions with this problem in professional environments... I also heard from a friend who has his own IT services company and tries to promote OOo and convert as much other companies as he can to OOo, that he also can't use versions with this problem (even though he did try for a while, but had to downgrade them all because of the many user complains). Please don't underestimate user-complaints, such an unintuitive thing like this can prevent people from starting to use OOo..and should really be fixed as soon as possible. I'm not an expert, and didn't look at the source, but if you want the OS to decide if a window can come to the front then, in the Windows case, shouldn't it be done by calling the Windows SetForegroundWindow Function as this function brings a new window to the front when the calling thread is the active thread (with user-focus). If the thread has no user-focus, the new window will start blinking in the taskbar, not stealing any focus. Exactly like any other application in Windows.. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I can simulate it using CSV and ODS queries too. Steps I use to reproduce: - create an ODB file containing queries of any form (native, CSV, ODS, mysql, ..) - create an OSD file and add a DataPilot using the query as the source - select a block of cells somewhere in the file and remove the cells, moving the other cells up or left - insert or remove one or more rows or columns somewhere in the file - repeat last 2 steps a few times after repeating those last 2 steps a few times I've seen following different behaviours: - OOo stops responding, using full CPU and needs to be killed - OOo pauses for a while, then starts reponding again but doesn't refresh the screen (inserted or deleted rows/columns or cell-blocks are still shown) until the deleted cells are scrolled out of sight and back. Any subsequent removing/adding of cells/rows/collumns then show the same behaviour. And when window is closed, OOo crashes completely with the Visual C++ Runtime error. Please set this issue to a higher priority, and consider it as a blocker for 3.1.1? As it makes one of the great powers and features of Calc unusable and undependable and should be resolved asap. But this dialog is displayed within the context of the already opened window and doesn't get focus on Windows XP (Maybe also on other windows versions?). When I choose to open a new copy of the document, the document opens with the name "Untitled 1 (read-only)" The new document is now still read-only and can't be changed...This can't be right? Also when I initially chose to open the document read-only, and then click on the toolbar-icon to re-open the document in read-write mode. I get a question about using this document as a template for a new document. When I answer Yes on that question, again a new document "Untitled 1 (read-only)" is opened with the contents of the original file.. But also here the new document is read-only and can't be changed. This is new behaviour since v3.1 as in v3.0.1 it still worked (despite that it was also displaying "(read-only)" in the title, the new document was actually read-write) I can't simulate this with a document where the Extra -> Options -> Security -> Open in Read-Only mode is not set. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. And when a change has to be made it has to be well thought of. Already from the time we used MS Office (Excel) we marked those documents to be opened read-only by default. And when a change has to be made, it can then be reopened in read-write mode. This way we are certain accidental changes are (as good as) excluded, and I don't have to find out who opened the document first and thus has the lock on the file, before I can change the document. If there is a lock on the file, then we know someone is actually editing the file and not only having the file open for reference. When we migrated those documents to OpenOffice (v2.3 back then) we set this option again on those files: Extra -> Options -> Security -> Open in Read-Only mode (translated from dutch, don't know the actual English notation) And at first it seems to work as expected: When the file is opened, it opens in read-only mode by default. But when a second user tries to open the file for read-write, OOo complains telling the file is already in use for read-write by another user (since OOo 3 it even gives us the username of the user who opened the file first). Only when the first user toggles from the default read-only mode to read-write mode and then back to read-only mode, the lock on the file is released and a second user can switch to read-write mode. Steps to reproduce: * Open an existing document or create a new one * Set Extra -> Options -> Security -> Open in Read-Only mode * Close the file * Re-open the file --> The file is opened in Read-Only mode * Have a second user on the network also open the file --> The file is opened Read-Only * Have the second user click on the Open for editing-button --> The user will get an error about the file being in editing mode by the first user * Have the first user click on the Open for editing-button --> The file will be reopened in read-write mode * Have the first user again click on the Open for editing-button --> The file be reopened again in read-only mode * The second user can now press the Open for editing-button and edit the file. We have seen this issue as of OOo 2.3 through 2.4, 2.4.1 to 3.0. The OS we use is Windows XP on PC platform, but I assume this is OS and platform independent? I think this is a defect since a user never expects that he is locking a file for read-write by opening it read-only. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [framework-issues] [Issue 95547] User opens a file in read- only mode if hasn't writing permissions on fol der
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=95547 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Nov 26 10:34:50 + 2008 --- I have experienced the same behaviour. User has read-only permission on directory and read-write permission on a file in that directory. OOo 2.4(.1) was able to open the file in read-write, and OOo 3 can only open it in read-only mode. I assume this is because of the lock-file which is introduced in OOo 3, that can't be written to the directory because the user has no rights to create a new file in that directory. Maybe it is a good idea to revert to the old method, used in OOo 2.x, when there is no permission to write a lock-file? (Although I'm wondering how MS Office handles this, because if I'm correctly remembering this, Excel for example, also creates a new file, a copy of the original, in which is worked. And when saved, the original file gets deleted, and replaced by the working-copy...) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sc-issues] [Issue 83606] Data Pilots can't be copie d as a Data Pilot
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=83606 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Nov 14 14:03:10 + 2007 --- Sorry, my fault, I didn't find that issue before.. But I don't fully agree with the duplicate status, since Issue 27611, covers only the part about copying a "whole" worksheet. Can this issue be reopened, as enhancement, only for the part of normal copy-pasting a DataPilot, since this can also be a handy feature, and actually is not covered in Issue 27611. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sc-issues] [Issue 27611] Copies of Datapilot are no n-functional
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=27611 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Nov 14 13:47:23 + 2007 --- I don't see why this is not seen as a bug, but as an enhancement? I can understand why selecting a datapilot, then copy-paste it, and have a functional data pilot again, is an enhancement and not a bug, since it was originaly not intended to do so..the copied datapilot also doesn't look like a real datapilot anymore: there are no grey buttons anymore. But when copying a whole worksheet using the Move/Copy worksheet method, it looks to me, and probably any end-user as normal behaviour that the resulting copied worksheet, is identical to the original worksheet. And thus this should be considered as a bug, since the copied worksheet is not identical anymore, because the datapilot, which btw still looks like a functional datapilot, is "broken" on the copy. This was never done before, can in this case also be seen as: this is a bug that has always been there. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=83154 Issue #|83154 Summary|Group By on fields using BETWEEN or IN or ... criteria | are not interpreted well, causing the Group by to dis |sapear on those fields Component|Database access Version|OOo 2.3 Platform|PC URL| OS/Version|Windows XP Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|none Assigned to|dbaneedsconfirm Reported by|chojin --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Oct 31 10:04:24 + 2007 --- I'm using OpenOffice 2.3 (nl) Base with MySQL 5.0.24a-community-nt trough JDBC Create a simple query like this, using design view: - Field Date, Function: GROUP BY, Criteria: BETWEEN #11-20-2006# AND #12-30-2006# - Field Weight, Function: SUM Resulting in this SQL-string: SELECT `date`, SUM( `weight` ) FROM `openbase`.`bakken` GROUP BY `date` HAVING ( ( `date` BETWEEN {D '2006-11-20' } AND {D '2006-12-30' } ) ) Executing this query works correctly But when the query is saved, closed and reopend in design mode, the GROUP BY Function of the Date field is dissapeared. The SQL string now looks like this: SELECT `datum`, SUM( `gewicht` ) FROM `openbase`.`bakken` WHERE ( ( `datum` BETWEEN {D '2006-11-20' } AND {D '2006-12-30' } ) ) And executing the query results in an error stating that using Grouped functions like SUM without a Group By clause is illegal. This also happens when switching from Design view to SQL view and back to Design view. So I assume the problem is in the interpreting of the SQL.. This however doesn't happen when when another Criteria is added to the Date field: - Field Date, Function: GROUP BY, Criteria: BETWEEN #11-20-2006# AND #12-30-2006#, or: #01-01-1997# - Field Weight, Function: SUM results in: SELECT `date`, SUM( `weight` ) FROM `openbase`.`bakken` GROUP BY `date` HAVING ( ( `date` BETWEEN {D '2006-11-20' } AND {D '2006-12-30' } ) OR ( `date` = {D '1997-01-01' } ) ) which gets interpreted correctly and the Group By function is kept on the Date field when the query is closed and reopened in design-view or when switching between SQL view and Design view. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
